Of course things would never be that easy. Since the strange man said it was indistinguishable, then it really was.
Instead Minos focused on the fourth rule, which he believed was critical. The strange man had said this was a test of wit, which meant there must be a way in order to tell whether the Blood Honey Wine was poisonous or not.
He even went out of the way to clarify that it was a trial of intelligence rather than fortune, which in Minos's mind was a subtle hint, pointing towards the fourth rule.
'The fourth rule… Since this is a test of intelligence, then there must be some way to distinguish between death and life. The strange man made it clear earlier that the different wines were impossible to tell apart, and from what I've checked so far, I don't think he was lying.'
'Which means the answer wouldn't lie in the wine, but what else?' Minos kept thinking, before a light bulb suddenly went off in his head.
'I was thinking in the wrong direction, the fourth rule isn't pointing towards any objects, rather it's referring to the other inheritors.'
'What if the fourth rule was something along the lines of 'Anyone with a poisoned glass would be told discreetly'?'
'If that was the case, it meant five people actually already knew that their Blood Honey Wine was the lethal version, but they also knew that if they were the first ones to jump out, it would likely raise the others' suspicions, hence everyone's held back until now.'
As Minos thought deeper, he felt like his idea was very close to the truth. He continued inspecting the crowd, trying to see if anyone looked suspicious, and almost immediately he noticed something interesting.
About half the crowd was more interested in checking their own glasses out, checking to see if there was anything wrong with it. Meanwhile, the other half was actually paying more attention to the other test takers.
It naturally stands to logic that if everyone was given the same information, then assuming they were about equal in intelligence, then most people should make similar moves.
While one or two may stand out, it likely wouldn't be a majority. On top of that, even if there were a few odd men in the crowd, they probably wouldn't make the same actions, yet the five people Minos was suspicious of all acted the same way, as if they all had received the same information.
With all of this in mind, Minos was about 90% certain in his theory, of course he always reserved a little room for error just in case.
Minos quickly memorized the faces of the five suspicious characters before he decided to get to action. Since he wanted to win, then it was naturally time to make a move.
"Excuse me everyone. I have something to say." Minos said in a loud voice, immediately drawing the crowd's attention.
"What do you want, kid?" Said the purple sword cultivator, still clearly annoyed over having lost his first place position to Minos.
"Boy, we only have an hour, and I have no plans on dying, so you better speak fast." Said the large man who had come in third place.
"Make it quick." Venix also piped in, pretending as if he didn't know Minos.
"Have you all noticed something? The rules never said that you weren't allowed to have no Blood Honey Wine, so technically, as long as you empty your hands, you are guaranteed to win."
"That's fine, but the problem is who would take the risk of getting the poisoned glass." Replied a beautiful young woman, of around 20 years old.
The crowd quickly agreed with her, mocking Minos for his stupid suggestion, but before they could keep going, Minos interjected.
"Since I'm the one who proposed the theory, I'm naturally willing to take the risk. Honestly my cultivation is too weak, and without the Blood Honey Wine, I likely won't win the test after this one, even if I do pass."
"So you're willing to risk your life for this inheritance." Asked another member of the crowd, clearly suspicious of Minos's intention's.
