Chapter 36 - Death Knight

It didn't take Liam too long to finally finish off the commander, while it's attacks were rather fast they were quite simple. It would thrust it's spear towards vital points mainly the chest or head or try to sweep him off his feet, so with no other distractions Liam just avoided what came his way and countered.

With the commander finally down the barrier around the necromancer started disappearing. The necromancer opened with another new move, it summon a wall of purple fire in front of itself. The wall was about 5 metres long and there was no way for Liam to just charge through without taken some heavy damage, especially considering he isn't at full HP yet either.

While Liam was thinking of a way to get to the monster, the being in question started casting a fireball spell. The spell went through the fire wall and Liam noticed that it was somehow bigger than the last time it was cast.

'How did it get larger?' Liam looked towards the firewall and noticed that it was slightly dimmer. 'Huh! Did that fire wall boost it's power somehow?'

The fireball was moving faster than before and had reach Liam almost instantly. He managed to avoid the purple flames in time but he could still feel the heat generated by the flames as they flew past.

Meanwhile the necromancer continued firing spell after spell each being powered up by the wall of fire in front of it, giving Liam no choice but to go on the defensive for the moment.

As Liam had noticed earlier it was no more apparent as time went by that the firewall was losing it's colour and size meaning that he may be able to get at the necromancer soon. And soon came quicker than Liam expected.

Once the firewall dropped Liam charged at the monster and got his single hit in before he watch as the necromancer used and got out of his range. It then proceeded to cast it's spell before Liam could get close again.

Like before the area in front of the necromancer was filled with falling purple flames, these flames seemed to be in less quantity than last time the spell was used. The fireballs themselves size were almost double in size and when they hit the ground they caused small explosions making them almost impossible to dodge.

Seeing this Liam though better of going into deathtrap and instead waited at the edge of the spells area of effect, taking care not to get caught in any stray explosions.

The spell lasted 6 seconds before clearing up but it didn't mean Liam had it any easier as the necromancer was casting it's fire balls and arrows at him once again. Thankfully all it's big moves have large cool downs.

As soon as Liam was in range for his skill he immediately used it before slicing the necromancer three more times bringer it's life below 25% before another shield appeared around it.

Of course Liam knew what this meant, so instead of wasting time attacking he used a potion to bring his life back up to almost full. As he didn't know what he was about to face it was better to be safe than sorry.

It didn't take long before a shaped took form within the purple smoke where the last bone pile of the area was. Liam could see that the silloette was on four legs with a height of about three metres, it was in the shape of a horse and was carrying someone on its back.

As the smoke gradually cleared up with the monsters form finally taken shape Liam gulped at the sight.

What appeared in front of him was indeed a horse, it's bones were completely pitch black with patches of purple skin and muscle running along it's legs, neck, head and back. It had a pair of cold red eyes that were looking at Liam with a huge amount of killing intent, or thats what he thought. There was also purple flames around it's hooves and spraying from it's mouth.

However there wasn't just a horse. Sitting on top of the beast was a headless knight. It was wearing an intimidating looking set of black armour with same same sword and wings motif on its chest. In its left hand was a large halberd easily 4 metres in length with 2 sharp blades spikes on both ends of the pole.

"Holy shit!" Liam couldn't help but shout out as he saw the next opponent. He knew he was in for a rough ride against this.

'Neigh'

The horse made a sounded that was extremely grating on the ears as Liam watched it buck onto it's hind legs before it went back down and charged at Liam with extreme speed. The knight on top pointed the halberd at its opponent intending to skewer him as they rushed past.

'Shit, how am I to fight this?'
