Chapter 24 - Chapter 23 Hannah

Hannah starts waking up as the sun starts shining through her hospital room window.

"How are you feeling?" Mrs Smith asked.

"I'm fine," Hannah told mrs Smith.

"Good, I think Sarah's leaving today too, so maybe you'll bump into her on the way out; if not, then you'll see her in a few days anyway," Mrs Smith added.

"It would be nice to see her. I have missed her," said Hannah.

"You'll have time to pack and get ready in the few days before you head off to university. I know you have already started packing, but I know you have stuff to finish, so over the coming days you can do that, and then you'll be ready for UNI," MRS Smith told Hannah.

A doctor arrived a few hours later.

"My name is Dr Marley, and I have come to let you know that you can be discharged and sent home," Dr Marley told Hannah.

"OK, thank you," said Hannah.

Taking the medication out of a cabinet, Dr Marley stated, "I've also got medication for you to take home with you for any pain you might suffer due to your arm." "You'll have to visit your local GP and ask them to arrange a prescription if you need any more over the next few weeks." Dr Marley told Hannah.

Hannah took the pills. Hannah was given a backpack by Mrs Smith that Mr Smith had grabbed when Hannah was asleep.

Hannah then put them in her backpack to keep them safe.

"As soon as you're ready, you can be discharged," Dr Marley told Hannah.

"Thank you; we will help her get ready to leave," said Mrs Smith.

"That's fine unless you have any questions you want to ask, then I'll leave Hannah to get ready," Dr Marley said.

"I have no questions," Hannah told Dr Marley.

"We don't have any either," Mrs Smith told Dr Marley.

"That's fine; if any of you have any concerns, then please contact us, and we will let you know what to do," Dr Marley said.

"We will," Mrs Smith said.

Doctor Marley then left the room.

Mr and Mrs Smith helped Hannah get ready to go home. Mrs Smith gave Hannah a pair of fresh clothes that Mr Smith had retrieved for her when he got her backpack.

By noon, Hannah was ready to leave.

"Just to let you know, your phone was damaged in the cave accident, so you're going to need a new one. I'll get you a new one as soon as possible," Mrs Smith told Hannah.

"That's fine; I do want to ring Sarah and check on her before university if possible," said Hannah.

"You could always use the house phone; we have Deidre's number saved, and Sarah hasn't got a phone presently either, so you could both use your house phones if you'd like to," Mr Smith told Hannah.

"I didn't even think of that; it would be good to hear her voice and hear her tell me herself that she's OK," Hannah said.

"If you would like to talk to Megan or Olivia, we most definitely have their numbers saved too," Mrs Smith said.

"I'll probably wait to talk to them as they'll need time to rest and recover, so I'll probably wait until they contact me, then I'll know that they're ready to talk," Hannah told her mother.

"Of course that makes sense; if they want to talk to you or check up on you, they will do so, so the phone works both ways," Mrs Smith told Hannah.

Shortly later, Hannah went into the bathroom connected to her room, got changed, and shortly returned, picked up her backpack, and left the room with her parents.

"I'm glad to be going home. I want to sort out the rest of my university stuff and start to get back to normal," Hannah told her parents.

"Of course, that's what we want as well, for you and everything to go back to normal and for you to go to university and put all of this behind you," Mrs Smith told Hannah.

As Hannah and her parents turned the corner, she came face-to-face with a familiar person. It was Sarah; nothing could stop Hannah from running towards Sarah and wrapping her in the best hug she could manage with her broken arm.
