Olivia made her way carefully out of the hospital, taking care not to trip or put any weight on her injured leg. She finally made it downstairs to the parking lot. She then made her way to the car.
Mrs Meadows came around and opened the door for her to help her.
"Thank you," Olivia said, then placed her crutches in the middle seat and held on to the door as she got it. Mrs Meadows then shut the door.
Mrs Meadows got in the passenger seat, and Mr Meadows then started the ignition and started to drive away from the hospital.
"I know you probably feel bad that Megan cannot be released today with you, but it's OK to feel happy that you're leaving and going home; no one would think badly of you," Mrs Meadows told Olivia.
"I know, but I can't help it; I am glad to go home. I'll be more glad when Megan is released; it'll make her feel better too, and we can spend some time together; she'll like that." Olivia said. "Is it all right if I use the house phone later to check on Hannah and Sarah just to make sure they're OK and that they got home all right?" Olivia asked.
"Of course, sweetheart, I'm sure that they are fine, but it's always good to check just in case," Mrs Meadows told her.
"They will also probably be wondering if you are all right as well, and they will probably be glad to hear from you," Olivia's father told her.
They sat in silence for the rest of the drive home.
They finally arrived home. A short while later. Mrs Meadows got out and opened the car door. Olivia picked up the crutches from the seat, got out of the car, and carefully made her way into the house.
Olivia went to go upstairs, and her mother noticed.
"Do you need any help with the stairs?" Mrs Meadows asked.
"No, I'm OK, thank you," Olivia told her.
"Okay, be careful," Mrs Meadows told her.
"I will don't worry," Olivia said, smiling.
She slowly made her way up the stairs; by the time she got upstairs and to her room, she was exhausted, so she laid on her bed and put the crutches by the bedside cabinet. She thought about everything that had happened in the last few days and how it could've all ended so differently. She thought about how any one of them could have died, and she was glad that none of them did. She felt bad for Megan, now having to deal with a new permanent issue, but was thankful that she had survived.
