Chapter 15 - Emergency Relief

At Raine's behest, Avril took on the task.

No matter what anyone said, he couldn't do anything else anyway. Even if he fished three bodies, he would at least get 1.5 pearls, which was more money than transport.

Avril went to the back and retrieved the portrait, a middle-aged man, and a middle-aged woman with two young girls. The four people standing on a fishing boat, laughing and having a good time.

"Captain, let's go!" Avril said in a lowered voice as she returned to the boat.

...

This time no one was finally paying attention to the wood behind Raine's ass on the way. Their position was not yet out of the shipping lane, where there were often transport vessels hauling all sorts of goods. Raine's wood was quite naturally assumed to be a trading market consignment as well.

Both Avril and White were excited to take on the task and the two were very energetic. Which combined with the wind allowed Raine to reach a speed of three knots.

"Captain, why did you let me take on this search and rescue mission?" Avril asked curiously as she cranked his prime thrusters.

"As long as they're not particularly far away from me, I can find them." Raine said confidently, "And we can't take on a transport mission."

Avril thought for a moment and said thoughtfully, "Is that how you found me in the water in the first place?"

"Yes."

Raine's radar covered a thousand meters in diameter. It could find lost fishermen as long as they were within that range. Hence his urgency in getting Avril to take the job.

"By the way, how much wood does a white pearl buy?" Raine asked casually, thinking of the question.

"You can buy ten standard timbers, and a standard timber is about two and a half meters long." Avril said, "I reckon the quest was posted by this woman in the portrait. If all three find it, she'll need to pay three white pearls to us and one more to the trading market. 4 white pearls can buy 40 timbers, which is close to building a small fishing boat. The guy called Goldwell said they don't even have their own fishing boat, so maybe this money is what they're saving up to buy a boat."

"One white pearl buys 10 timber? Then wouldn't 3 be..." Raine came to life. If he could find three living people he could earn 3 white pearls and buy 30 heels of timber, just 30 timber short of his evolution!

"Come on, let's pick up the pace!" Raine said impatiently, "Try to bring back as many live ones as we can!"

Perhaps because she had just been shipwrecked and lost a loved one herself, Avril felt extra sympathy for the family and was touched by Raine's urgency, "Captain, you are a good man. I wish they were all still alive. No, I have to speed up!"

On this point, Raine and Avril inexplicably agreed.

...

Twenty nautical miles wasn't close for Raine either, but after Avril's outburst of power, they arrived in just 10 hours.

"Let's take a look around," Raine said as he kept a careful eye on the radar.

Avril controlled direction while looking anxiously out to sea. White stuck his neck out of the boat to search constantly.

Raine was busy too, he tried to communicate with the radar at such an important time!

"Brother Alarm Clock, come on! Now is the time I need you, show up!"

"Brother, get up! Hey, don't sleep!"

"Brother, look how beautiful the night is. Come on, be a good friend, give me a holler."

"Brother..."

After calling out an unknown number of times, a long-awaited voice finally rang out in Raine's head.

[Human spotted at 284 degrees northwest, 497 meters]

"Eh! Here we go!" Raine instantly perked up like a chicken, "Avril, steer the ship, I found one!"

"Captain, how did you find them? I didn't even see them."

"Don't ask so many questions, sail the boat!"

With a clatter, the boat sailed rapidly and approached its designated position.

It wasn't long before Avril saw an exhausted man, but they were clinging to a plank of wood with a death grip. Avril rushed to wake him up and threw the life preserver down.

The man finally woke up and climbed up with all his might, "Thank you, thank you, quick, help my daughter!"

Not caring that he was shivering from the cold, the man said anxiously, "They're nearby."

Avril hurriedly continued to steer the boat.

Within minutes, a second person was rescued.

"Dad, Dad!"

"Armin!" The man hugged the girl tightly, "Where is your sister?"

"She was around here earlier, then we got separated. Quick, sister, please, help us!" The girl begged as she clutched Avril's hand tightly, crying.

Avril nodded, "We'll do our best, just sit down."

The boat continued to travel and finally, after half an hour, Raine spotted the last person.

"Arsan!" As soon as the father and daughter pair saw the girl, they hurriedly threw down their lifebelts. But Arsan was in such a bad state that she could no longer get into the boat on her own.

When Avril saw it, she looked at the other two. While gritting her teeth, she jumped into the sea herself to save her.

With a lot of effort, Avril and the middle-aged man pushed and pulled the dying Arsan into the boat.

By now, the whole family had boarded the boat, but Avril was still in the water. Saving people in the sea is very physically demanding, and many strong people may even drown themselves in the water.

If they had taken the boat away at this time, perhaps no one would have known.

In this day and age where everyone is in it for themselves, that possibility could not be ruled out.

The family anxiously checked on the condition of this Arsan, and as each minute passed, Avril's worry grew heavier.

After a few minutes, Arsan's condition finally improved and the man was finally relieved. He turned around and found Avril still in the water, he hastily grabbed a life preserver and threw it to Avril.

"I'm sorry ma'am, I-I got so excited, I forgot you were still in the water, I'll pull you up." The man said with an apologetic voice.

Raine had been watching the scene and would not have hesitated to throw all these people overboard if they had dared to take the boat away just now.

Perhaps the Azure Era was cruel and selfish, but there were always humble people who could make a different choice.

Not bad, these guys were not saved in vain!

When Avril was finally rescued and brought back on board, Raine was already silently calculating his big upgrade plan.

Only 30 timbers short!
