Chapter 3 - Bikes

We started moving, and I felt the wind on my face as we zoomed through the streets. It was my first time riding a bike, and it felt interesting. The girls cheered and laughed as we passed by people, Lana challenged Hanna to a race and sped up, to which Hanna accepted and peddled fast. As we arrived at the mall, I was amazed at the size and the variety of shops. I had never seen so many clothes, gadgets, and toys in one place. The girls dragged me from store to store, trying on different outfits and picking out games to play together. it was pretty eventful. As the day wore on, my energy began to wane, and I could feel my legs ache. Hanna noticed and suggested we take a break and get some food. We sat at a food court, and Hanna ordered some burgers and fries. "Did you enjoy today little guy?" Hanna asked with a proud smirk. "Yeah, it was nice" I responded, finishing my food and wiping my face off with a napkin. "You're so polite, it's almost like you are a little spy!" Monika kneeled down and petted the top of my head. oddly enough it felt nice. "We should probably head back home, my mom will be pissed if I don't get back on time!" Lana scratched the back of her head. "Right!" Hanna Picked up my things as we walked out. "Hey, do you think we could have a race back home?" I asked, trying to keep the energy. "Sure thing!" Lana said, with a grin. "But remember to be careful, we don't want anyone getting hurt." We all mounted our bikes and lined up at the starting point. Hanna ride with Lana this time so I could use the bike for myself and counted down from three, and we were off, pedaling furiously down the street. I was a natural, it felt like I was flying through the air as I peddled furiously. I could hear the girls laughing and cheering, but I didn't look back. I was determined to win this race. As we approached our street, I could see the finish line. I pumped my legs harder, and my heart raced but unfortunately, A girl with blonde hair and a bun hairstyle got in the way. "I won!" Lana yelled, grinning from ear to ear as I crashed into the girl. We both collided on the ground. I all got up and I wiped the dirt from my face and clothes, confused at what had just happened. "Are you okay?" I asked the girl trying to sound sincere as I held out a hand to help her up. The girl nodded, still looking quite shaken from the incident. "My apologies, I should've been looking at where I was going," I said to the girl. She was about my height. Her hair fell around her shoulders like a golden curtain and framed her face. Freckles dusted the bridge of her nose as if kissed by a brush that scattered stars across it with every stroke. Her eyes were large and brown like melted chocolate. "It's okay," the girl said softly, her voice like honey. She smiled at me, revealing a dimple on her right cheek, then pulled away before I could reply. Then she ran off without saying another word.I back at the girls, who were watching the scene unfold with curious expressions on their faces. "What just happened?" I asked, feeling a little flustered. "I think you just crashed into the new girl in town," Monika said with a sly grin. "She's been the talk of the town for the past few days." "Yeah, she's definitely caught our attention," Hanna added, winking at me. "Looks like you made quite the impression on her, little spy. I heard she's really rich~" I pretended to be flustered at the teasing but couldn't help feeling a little annoyed by the way I was carelessly riding the bike. As we rode back home, I couldn't help but think about her and wonder if I would ever get enrolled into a school like a regular kid too.
