The realization hit him like a truck. 'Magic, fighting? AM I IN A FUCKING VR WORLD!'
Of course, he knew he wasn't but the similarities were shockingly accurate.
Nearly all VR games had a basic concept of 'Magic' and fighting, typically using swords.
The available magic was the natural four elements. Earth, Water, Wind, and Fire.
There're two unique elements, 'Light' and 'Dark' obtainable through 'rolls'
Of course, being able to wield these two elements was exceedingly rare and costed money even for a chance to get them.
But in this world, it was practically all chance.
William staggered onto one knee, being held up by Yves and the mage who healed him.
His mother was now crying tears of joy and relief, patting Salvador's back gently, easing him.
A crowd encircled them. Most were present since William was on his deathbed, while some were arriving after noticing the presence of a powerful figure entering the village.
This situation only confirmed Salvador's thoughts.
'I'm in a village... Most likely a commoner... And I'm in a world with magic. This gets rid of getting born in the past thought I had.
The only way that idea is correct is if before, magic was a thing but soon ceased to exist. Maybe as technology progressed there wasn't any necessity for magic?
But there would definitely be articles or books describing the times that magic existed. So this just means I'm in a whole other world or alternate reality.'
He couldn't help but jump in excitement.
His life-long dream of his finally came to reality.
'So this thing I feel in my stomach, could it be a mana core?'
In most magic books he read, every mage contains a 'mana core' that corresponds to their strength. Brighter typically meant stronger.
It usually goes:
Red >>> Orange >>> Yellow >>> Green >>> Cyan >>> and so on.
So in short, the brighter the mana core the more powerful it is.
William finally got on his own two feet, albeit wobbly.
Eleanor rushed to him, embracing him in a big hug as she wept on his shoulder.
William looked at Salvador, giving him the same smile he did as he was about to die.
He ruffled his hair, one arm hugging his mother.
Yves hugged them all, Nico joining in from the side as he cried with his mother.
The blonde man stepped forward, clearing his throat. **"Sorry to disturb you, but coming here was a hassle itself and I'm on a time crutch."** He bluntly said, opening the palm of his hand.
Reaching into her pockets, Eleanor pulled out three silver coins and handed them to the man.
**"Thank you, Christian."** The man nodded before levitating himself into the air and flying away.
Salvador couldn't restrain himself, letting out a giggle at the sight of the flying man.
This caught the attention of his family members.
One thing Salvador forgot to account for was acting like a baby.
He never cried or showed interest in anything.
But for the first time since being reincarnated, he showed visible emotion.
**"Well, Yves, I think our baby would like to be a mage."** She cheekily remarked, raising her eyebrows in a show of mockery.
**"Like hell! He'll obviously follow suit and become a swordsman. Hell, a hybrid if we have to."**
The two laughed and gave each other a kiss before heading back inside.
Yet, as Eleanor went to enter, Salvador started crying.
'Giggling definitely caught their attention... Let's see if this works.'
He came up with a so-called 'innovative' plan to earn himself more freedom, which in his definition is being able to get out of the house.
As Eleanor entered the door, Salvador burst into a fit of cries and whines, reaching his arms back outside.
Eleanor halted and looked at her baby before looking back outside.
Walking outside, Salvador stopped whining, letting another giggle to exaggerate his acting.
**"That's what I wanted to prevent... Now that he got a taste of the outdoors, he'll never want to go back in."** Eleanor could only sigh, rubbing her forehead. Yves stepped out, his arm over her shoulder.
**"At least he won't be stuck in the house all day when he's older. That's a good thing."**
Eleanor nodded in response, still shaken up from the incident before.
**"Stay with Nico and William, I'll take the baby for a bite."** Eleanor handed Salvador over to the large man who had an overly long beard, his looks near exact of an older version of Nico and William.
Salvador watched Eleanor walk into their wooden house, tending to William immediately.
If magic was a thing that existed, why has he not encountered it yet?
There were two plausible reasons for this.
The first was that possessing a mana core is simply by chance and not everyone acquires one at birth.
This could also mean that having a mana core is rare and those with it are usually nobles or someone who was found out to possess a mana core and got promoted to a higher social class.
Or two, their household frankly didn't use magic and chose to do it the old-school way.
Either way, Salvador wouldn't care if he had a mana core himself.
Yves began walking through the crowd until another burly man talked to him.
**"Holy shit, what happened? William almost fucking DIED!"** He couldn't help to raise his voice, he was practically a second father to them.
He trained them in the way of the sword, away from home he was their mentor, someone they looked up to if it wasn't their father.
**"I don't know. I've only been told it was a beast that formed its core after the mission was up for grabs. Luckily enough they injured it enough to escape."**
Yves's expression turned stern after he began talking to the man.
Like Yves, he also maintained a large muscular build brimming with power.
His brown hair was awfully short, cut to a buzzcut with a visible after-shave on his chin.
The man sighed, bringing his face into his palms before speaking in a low tone.
**"I swear I'll kill those fucking Talork bastards. This is the fifth time this year this happened! It's like they're trying to get us killed."**
The face of Yves momentarily changed before it returned to his cold gaze.
**"I'll talk to Realya. I'll get her to launch an investigation into Talork."**
'Whatever he said seemed to ease Baldie.' Salvador thought.
The man left, leaving Yves and Salvador.
**"Alright! Let's go eat."**
For a few minutes, Yves walked in solitude, a baby in his arms while humming a soft song.
He stopped in front of a store with a sign nailed to the top of it reading "Hocam Bar!"
Salvador's mind stopped for a second before realizing it.
'The language on paper is the same as English, but how they speak it is completely different?'
This baffled him for a second before he considered the possibilities of this back on Earth.
'It could've been written or said differently back on Earth... I guess it is possible. Luckily having to learn to write and read will be done already.'
As the two walked into the shop a fresh and alluring aroma hit Salvador's nose.
'Luckily this isn't blood.' He jokingly thought, inwardly chuckling.
Yves sat him down on a table, talking to the waitress about his order.
Soon enough, a large plate of meat came to the table which Yves munched down, while Salvador could only eat the mashed potatoes provided as his teeth were not grown enough for meat.
'Maybe... This life is worth living after all.'
