The sun rose, and a soft orange illuminated the Hocmoc village. The birds chirped and farmland animals wandered around.
The village was quiet, everyone was sleeping except for one person, a child in particular, and that was Salvador.
Nearly every morning for the past few months, he would read books non-stop, a never-ending dopamine rush.
The variety of books ranged from the history of his continent to the great wars and how to use mana.
One of the most influential events that occurred piqued his interest, and that was the Great War of Locha and Demons IV.
'It only concluded a few weeks before I reincarnated.' He said to himself, surprised.
Unfortunately, while Locha was the victor in the war, it sapped all of its resources and lost 60% of its population. Such losses were beyond devastating, and Locha still suffered to this point. Even worse, they also lost 75% of their combatants, including a Ninth Force Knight, Lance Leonard.
Of course, he wasn't the only Ninth Force Knight that Locha lost. They even lost a few Tenth Force Knights and Archmages.
But what set him apart from his peers was how he was also a genius mage and the fact he was by far, the youngest Seventh, Eighth, and Ninth order Knight to grace the World.
According to the book, Lance also had the potential to attain the rank of Eighth Order Mage, yet he settled for a Knight.
Because of this, he was what many referred to as a "Magic Swordsman" Although he never accepted the title due to the fact he rarely used magic outside of enhancing his body and sword.
Salvador gazed at the picture of Lance, comparing their features.
'He looks like an aged version of me... And more stoic but...' Salvador was baffled by the shocking resemblance the two shared.
Salvador picked up a small hand-held mirror and held it in front of his face.
Both had mutual deep-set eyes, jet-black hair, and sharp jawline.
The most important factor to notice was their pale violet eyes.
Another thing to not forget is both of them were very good-looking.
'I'm young... There's a chance I become ugly in the future, but as of right now I do look quite handsome...'
Salvador smirked and put the mirror down. 'That still doesn't explain how similar we look.' Salvador was deadpan for a second.
'Is he my father?'
For a second his mind was quiet before he started laughing.
"Him? My father? Right! If I was I bet I would be able to use mana already!" Salvador knew something that was crazy could not happen to him.
'But I already reincarnated... So it's possible I guess...' The thought of someone else being his parents did startle him a bit, he loved his current parents and brothers so much.
However, these thoughts soon led him to something he regretted realizing.
'Wait...'
Salvador got up, placed the big leather book on his bed, and made his way to his door.
Salvador slowly crept open the wooden door of his bedroom, tip-toeing on the floorboards to his parent's room.
Fortunately, his parents didn't care enough to close their door at night, excluding the times they indulge in babymaking. He peeked in, barely able to see from the dim orange light the Sun radiated.
He saw both his parents sleeping cozily, snuggling up to each other.
Salvador nodded as he confirmed they were asleep.
Stepping over to the drawers near the fireplace, he unlocked the upper left drawer and pulled it open, revealing a space full of papers.
He flipped threw them all, quickly skimming through the contents until he found a birth certificate belonging to Nico and William.
"Nico Eywa, 21 Years old, William is 22 Years old now..." He quickly looked at their certificates before placing them to the side, looking for his.
"Their certificates are here, but mine isn't."
Salvador frowned.
Similar to Earth, birth certificates were issued whenever a baby was born.
Hocmoc was quite the sizable village, a hospital was in it, although it was nearly a 30-minute travel which was why William couldn't have been carried there.
If he did, he surely would've died of blood loss which made Salvador think back to that day.
'He would've died if not for that man.' Salvador inwardly thanked the man.
Salvador turned his mind back to the current situation.
'Well, they are about six times my age... Maybe my certificate is in another drawer?'
He knew that his suspicions were likely correct. There was absolutely no reason that Salvador wouldn't have a birth certificate. 'If I don't find mine...' He paused his thoughts as he didn't want to think about the possibilities. He loved his family and thought of it as his own.
He would feel awful if he found out this was not his biological family.
He did not share the brown hair his parents or brothers carried, not even their green eyes.
Done with the left drawer, he switched to the middle.
Nothing.
Lower left, no certificate. It was completely empty, full of dust.
He searched through all the drawers and found nothing.
As he was about to reach the top right drawer, a voice startled him.
"What are you doing."
Salvador jumped up, turning to the voice in a hurry. 'Shit!' He inwardly screamed.
Nico stood deadpan, staring at Salvador.
His eyes were nearly shut, it was evident he was just woken up. Unfortunately for Salvador, there would be no way to vindicate his actions.
"You gonna answer? Why are you snooping around so early?" Nico questioned Salvador again, his patience thinning out.
"I-I was looking for something." He sheepishly responded, scratching the back of his head.
Nico's eyes narrowed. "Such as?" He asked again, not letting up.
'Why won't he just leave me alone!'
Salvador chuckled, trying to ease himself and alleviate the mood. "Well, I'm just trying to figure out how old you are! Your Knight promotion assessment is today and I was curious."
'Such a bullshit reason. Will he fall for it?' Salvador quickly prayed to the guards that Nico was gullible.
Nico sighed and stepped to Salvador.
He knelt down and firmly grasped his shoulder. 'His grip is tight!'
Nico stared into Salvador's soul.
'He damn well didn't fall for it!' He inwardly screamed, wanting to run away at this very moment.
"I'm not sure why you're lying to me right now, Salvador." He said.
Despite his delicate voice, he could tell Nico was about to smack discipline into him if he lied one more time.
Out of the two years he was able to interact with Nico, he was totally aware of his low patience.
Due to some unfortunate circumstances, he was forced to incur the whoopings from Nico, mainly cause of something like this.
He was snooping for books late at night, got caught, and was disciplined, simple as that.
Salvador wondered if he should make another excuse although closer to the truth.
He could say he was looking for his certificate albeit for another reason.
He opened his mouth but nothing came out. 'Fuck it.'
"Nico, am I adopted?" Salvador seriously asked.
