"You look tired and…."
He resumed beating the sword with a hammer, the clanking sound completely burying her voice. He was intentionally doing it, she could tell, and she deserved the cold shoulder. Maybe not to this extent though. All she did was tell him the truth about how she truly felt, so he would not have to waste his time waiting for her to choose him. She could never choose him, or any other man for that matter, not with the way that Lucien had clogged her mind and filled her every thoughts.
"I am sorry," she blurted almost as soon as he stopped hammering. When he did not reply she continued. "I know what I said the last time hurt you, but I felt that as friends I owed you an explanation. But the way I spoke to you was rude and I really did not mean to be rude or condescending. I am sorry."
