After Iris and I concluded our little discussion that threatened to turn more sexual rather than a mental exchange, we one by one left the library inconspicuously. Before either of us left, we checked the surrounding are and only then scooted out.
Obviously no one was nearby as the library was supposed to be off limits anyway, but better safe than sorry.
"What should I do with the rest of the time that I have today?" I thought aloud to myself.
As the first day at the academy was simply introductions and assimilation, the 1st year students are being dealt with leniently and have been able to enjoy themselves for the rest of the first day. Some most likely are exploring all the cafeteria options and I'm sure some are venturing into the city to check out the shops in the district.
This school was grand and the limits on what you could do were practically non-existent.
"Well, I've done enough for the first day and the previous six years before that. I guess I can let myself rest. Off to the dorm rooms!" I stretched my arms as my encounters of today flashed before my eyes.
There was only one image floating around my head that settled unease, but I knew I'd be able to handle it at some point, "Investigations shouldn't be hurried, right?"
I soon after made my way to the student dormitory rooms for the first years in the building just detached from the main east block where our lessons were held. I quickly walked up to the front desk were a woman sat at her desk invested in some papers.
"Hello. I wanted to go to my room." I requested. The old woman slowly looked up to me, her eyebrows furrowed as she gave me a stingy eye.
"Name?" She called out to me in a croaky voice, her crooked and yellow teeth showing.
My face naturally flinched backwards and I gave an awkward smile as I chuckled. "Kaiser Tellum."
Her triangular glasses corrected themselves as her expression distastefully scorned at me before glancing down at the list. "Ah. Your room is 097. Here is your copy of the key and your roommate has already collected his. He's already signed in."
My roommate? I guess there was something like that in the game wasn't there? I'm pretty sure that's how our Hero met his annoying sidekick.
"Ah, I see. Who is my roommate?" I asked.
"A student by the name of Kayden Nate."
"Oh? You don't say...Ha! Hahahahahaha!!" I slowly deviated into deranged laughter as the old lady continued staring at me.
"Evil little shit. It's always the most handsome ones that have the most venom."
"I suppose so!" I waved her off as I walked to the right in search of my room.
Who would have thought my biggest concern would just happen to be my roommate. Is this the power of the plot? No wonder Leon is so addicted to this, thank you author!
I shortly arrived at the door and quickly opened the door with my key.
My eyes immediately caught the sight of shoes left at the front door in a neat and orderly manner.
"Well at least he isn't the dirty type of person." I commented, but soon fell into silence.
A loud drumming of constant droplets lashing against the floor sounded from further in the room. I continued walking into the room to find two double beds front centre and two private bathrooms, one on each of our sides.
"I suppose I should interrogate him. Let's figure out this bastard trying to ruin my game." I slowly sat on my bed and awaited for Kayden to come out. It was the only thing I could do.
This wasn't the time to be messing around either like I was with the hero. This character was an anomaly. Something that I have no data on and no predictable pattern. A person like that... I might have to kill.
Soon the continuous downpour of water from the shower came to an abrupt pause and the individual in question walked out the bathroom, his dark skin wrapped in a fluffy white gown as droplets of water cascaded across his body.
His amber eyes intently locked onto mine and he quickly dismissed me from his sight, turning to his bed as he continued to dry his navy hair.
"Seems like my roommate is quite the individual. Top of the school ahead of even the princess of the Empire, labelled as the brightest star. Impressive." Kayden commented in a snarky voice, a smug grin appearing on his face.
"Well you know what they say about bright stars. The brighter they shine, the quicker they die. Isn't it great? People love a tale of dying legend! It's like you're all twisted psychopaths!" I mocked, a daring look imprinted in my gaze as I laughed.
"Isn't that a twisted way to put it?"
"Alright, let's stop this bullshit act. Who the fuck are you?" I leaned in closer and my face reverted to a stern and callous expression.
"What do you mean who am I? I'm Kayden Nate, the 8th strongest 1st year and student of Class A." He slowly began approaching me as I sat on my bed, cross legged, his amber hue intensifying as mana slowly filtered through his body.
"Well aren't you cocky, you fucking nobody? If you value your life, withdraw your mana before I cripple you." I smiled kindly, sliding my hand through my hair.
"Huh?" His face got even closer as he crouched before me. "Don't you think your being too high and mighty? I don't recall you being from any special family either."
"I wasn't talking about my family. If you think just because my families position isn't high that I won't act against you and cripple you no matter what ranking you are, you've got another thing coming. So take one of those seats from the corner and sit down. Let's have a civil chat." My azure eyes slowly glowed as mana acted in accordance to my thoughts.
"I guess I'll listen for now." He sighed and fetched a chair.
"Let me ask you again. Who are you?"
"I've already told y-"
"Who. Are. You. You were never apart of this world before, so why have you spawned like a fucking bot into this school?"
His body language remained calm, but sweat slowly trickled from his forehead.
"What are you on about?"
"You're not being very productive and clearly not co-operating with me. That only leaves me with one choice, dear Kayden." I slowly leaned closer to him and rested my cold hand on his warm shoulder. "I'm going to have to kill you."
