It was bright outside, barely any clouds in the sky and birds chirping loudly as they danced in the air.
"I remember staring at the clouds, barely being able to keep my eyes open. I always sat on her lap, and every time she would sing me the same song... What was it again?...."
With a gasp Reina rose up from the ground, scrambling from left to right before getting unto her feet.
She panted heavily, still in agaze as she looked around. "Hah,hah...w-what's happening? Where am I?"
She feel her heartbeat racing as sweat drenched her entire body: her feet stung and her legs were barely able to keep her standing. but her eyes kept awake and her mind alert.
She seemed to be at an open space in a tall forest whee the trees were so large and broad that barely any sunlight could pass through, but still enought that she could make out everything that was present.
Tthe trees were closely packed some of their large roots sticking out of the ground spreading far and wide.
She slowly turned around trying to calm down as she thought of what to do next, completely ignoring the pain she felt from all the broken twigs she was stepping on.
"What is this place? They're decayed leaves everywhere; no birds o-" cut short as her body stood frozen, her racing heart stilling before gradually increasing its pace at a louder tune. Her eyes were filled with fear.
She stared at a monster, so big, at least half the size of the giant trees that were the size of a castle. Stared down at her with 3 widened eyes as it peeked out from the behind a tree.
The monster has gray skin and its body resembled that of a muscular man. It's arms and legs had what looked like white claws portruding out of its knees and elbows as well as its fingers and toes, those on its fingers peirced into the trunk of the tree, making the monster sound in a crouching way.
Its skull was elongated with 2 huge white horn sticking out of it, one looking like it had been sliced off; beneath the horns, at the edge of the skull, were sharp scales arranged over one another like gills, stretching from its open mouth with a long tongue hanging out of it. It's teeth and nostrils resembled that of an alligator, 2 of it's eyes completely white while the third eye taking up majority of the space on it's forehead, between the two horns, a giant purple eye placed vertically with it's black pupil staring down at Reina.
Before the girl was a beast, a monster. Made from our sins.
Her mind went blank.
"T-there was nothing there before; I-I-I checked...it c-can't be..."
Her body was trembling, trying her best to push her thoughts to the back of her mind, as she tried to slowly back away, not noticing the patches of frost growing on her neck, slowly emitting a cold air.
"You know what it is." A light voice spoke behind her, she turned her head swiftly, trying her best not to scream and keeping her feet rooted to the ground.
It was a squirrel. It was sitting upright as it stared at her, one of it's eyes shining a bright yellow color.
"A-a talking...squirrel?" Reina didn't understand how it was possible for a squirrel to talk, nut now that she had come to a realization about what the monster was, she could barely keep herself together.
She felt nauseated. Her legs were trembling, her eyes were watery and shaking, her heart ever pounding. A part of her wished that this was a dream as her mouth quirked up in an awkward smile.
"This-this can't be real, this c-c-can't be happening. No-no it can't be, the-the-there's no way-"
"Don't worry," the squirrel spoke in a calm refreshing voice that sounded like that of a woman's. "Just stay calm."
Tears had began to flow from her eyes, the patches of frost that was previously only on her neck had spread all over her body almost covering her arms and legs. She looked at the squirrel, biting her lips tightly, like it was all she had left in the world.
"O...okay." Even saying that one word came as a struggle. She turned back at the monster. She didn't even realize how cold she was until the squirrel spoke to her.
"The titan is injured, claws that are pierced into the tree are trying to absorb nutrients. Although it may seem to be awake, the layer covering the third eye on its forehead actually shows that it's actually asleep.
Reina looked up at the third eye, taking notice of the thin layer that covered it. "It's right!" she thought to herself.
"So what do I do?" she whispered aloud. "Your ability is ice magic isn't it?" The squirrel tilted it's head.
Reina let out a little gasp. "That's true; Titans are cold blooded and usually hibernate during winter..."
Cold frost slowly started pouring out of Reina's arms. She raised her arms and the frost started moving towards the beast. It's already weak so if I could just reduce its body temperature I should be able to put the Titan in a temporary state of hibernation..."
"If I do that I might have enough time to get away."
When the frost reached the eye on its forehead twitched. Reina taking notice of it immediately increased the output of her frost. The skin on the third eye ripped open slightly and a black pupil moving shakingly within a glowing purple iris, looked down at her.
Her heart thumping loudly against her chest, staring into the monster's eye, relentless pouring out her magic. The frost on the girl's body grew spreading to the top of her jaw, around her arms, and all over her legs; frost pouring out of her mouth as she panted for air.
The pupil moved back up and the layer of the skin shut and the eyelids of the other 2 eyes slowly began to close.
Reina released her breath, not even realizing when she began holding it. Her eyes trembled as she continued pouring out frost as a smile crept across her cheek.
"Good," the squirrel said. Reina twitched, noticing now that the squirrel was on her shoulder.
"Don't stop. Back away slowly."
Reina nodded, moving backward slowly. Frost had started growing on the Titan, its body seemed like it was falling to the ground, hanging only by the claws sunk into the tree.
Reina was slightly away from the space and into the forest.
"I'm almost out of the opening, and after a few more steps my frost won't be able to reach the titan anymore, honestly I don't think I even have that much energy to keep this up much longer."
Reina's body was shivering and frost had reached all the way to her forehead and her hair.
"Should I just run away." She turned around, one of her legs raised backward. There was a loud grunt sound from behind her.
She could see a gray color emerging from nowhere, so large and wide that it blocked all sight of the forest behind it from her eyes.
she looked up; her eyes shrunk and her heart sunk to despair. There was another titan taking form behind her.
It was hornless, his head downward with it's jaw hanging, It's arms motionless hanging forward. The same size and crouching posture as the other one.
Reina raised leg drop hard on the ground making a loud crunch sound as it stepped on twigs and decayed leaves.
The layer on the monster's third eye immediately opened up. It's large glowing purple eye zooming in on Reina. She could feel the impending danger that was about to come from all over her body; but before she could even do anything.
The Titan gave a mighty roar ear-splitting roar, shaking the tree branches, rupturing her eardrums and awaking the frost covered Titan from it's slumber.
Reina body felt like fainting but she managed to start running staggeredly into the forest.
Titans had started appearing from all around her in the form of vapor out of nowhere; all injured, some with broken limbs, a missing 'third eye', sliced horns and some with nothing left below their waist.
They came in large numbers pursuing from all angles. some from beneath the earth, some from above on the trees and others by foot.
The squirrel stood motionless on Reina's shoulder. Reina losing all hope broke down to tears giving out a loud scream as she continued to run swaying her arms randomly spewing out large amounts of ice, a little bit enough to slow down the Titans for at least a second, though she took no notice of it.
She kept screaming, running aimlessly as she swayed her arms. The more she did the more her magic grew.
Tougher, colder and stronger her ice had become. Piercing the Titans, freezing their limbs blocking their path.
Reina's eyes were blurry and reddened her pupils had turned white and her iris the color of snow.
The girl ran as fast as she could and shouted louder than she ever had in her whole life. Aimlessly, hopelessly, grievously. Praying and wishing to get away. Weeping, bleeding, screaming. And yet...
Reina tumbled hard on the ground braking her toe and spraining her ankle as she tripped on a large root of a tree.
Looking behind her for the first time. Seeing the noticeable distance she had created, the large amounts of cold air, the pinnacles of ice that were on the trees as well as the Titans bodies, that relentlessly kept chasing her, giving out mighty roars she couldn't even hear.
The squirrel had disappeared from her shoulder and at that moment she truly felt alone in the world.
But what caught her eye the most was a Titan who was impaled through the chest into the branch of one of the high trees, fresh blood on the branch of the tree; missing both arms, facing her direction. It's mouth ajar with a glowing blue light coming from within the depths of it's throat making it shake tremendously, it's horn's were blue as well radiating like a rainbow.
At this point Reina body refused to listen to her and she couldn't move, her hair had turned completely white; her voice was gone and her nose had begun to bleed.
She opened her mouth ajar staring at the monsters rushing towards ice pouring out of her mouth little by little. She knew it was pointless to keep trying and her eyes were like that of one who was already dead.
Even while knowing this will be her death she didn't dream of paradise or the happiest moments of her life. The only thought that was in her mind was...
I don't want to die.
There was a humming sound. In the tune of a song.
A man walked towards Reina, his hands in the pocket of his light peached open cloak; it had black floral patterns on the edges, covering the top half of his face revealing only his cheerful smile. A sword floating by his side. a lustrous silver sword with a golden hilt and a pommel embedded with a glowing gem.
Reina turned to him.
The man was a humming a song, at every step he took another sword will appear in a circular motion, like a spiral.
The Titans still rushing towards them. The one impaled to a tree bringing out a a spherical orb that vibrated vigorously swerving rapidly in it's fixed position emitting particles of the same blue color into the air.
" 'I remember staring at the clouds, barely being able to keep my eyes open. I always sat on her lap, and every time she would sing me the same song... What was it again?....' "
The man started to sing a song in such a beautiful voice. Standing in front of Reina, backing her. Eight swords floated in front of him taking a circular form with their hilt's at the center.
The Titan released the blast. It ripped through the air speeding growing bigger as it came down upon them. The other Titans ran back for safety. It tore holes through the trees and even through the ground as it had grown the size of a large meteor, large enough to wipe out a village with just it's radiation alone.
The man's figure became shadowed by the light of the blast, the rush of the wind removed his hood revealing his magnificent white hair, tied to a ponytail. The swords before him started moving at an incredible speed so fast the blades couldn't be seen nor heard.
the large blast came upon the blades and a mighty clash of yellow and blue sparks filled the air making the sound of an object being continuously cut at a high pitch.
All the sparks flew at the sides and back. None flew towards the man or Reina.
Reina stared in shock, her mouth agape. The man was still singing standing fully confident and unwavering. swaying his head from left to right as he sang.
"I know this song..."
The blast grew bigger but the swords continued to rotate in fact it looked like it was becoming faster. An orange bubble had formed in front of the swords,3 showing that it was cleanly piercing in while still ruthlessly protecting them both at its edges.
The blast stopped glowing and with a high grinding pitch, the blast exploded into roaring sparks and disappeared.
For a while every was silent. Both the Titans and Reina neither said a word or moved an inch, but listened as the man reached the end of his song, ending it with a very formal bow.
"Who are you?" Reina asked, completely mystified.
The man rose up with a cheerful smile. The Titans groaning as they started to back away.
He turned to Reina, his green eyes glittering along with the sparks in the air. Wearing a peach colored headband tied around his forehead with a metal plate triangularly engraved with three differing diamonds. A white button shirt, a belt with a golden buckle, black trousers and black lace-up high boots.
"I'm a doctor."
