Chapter 3 - No Turning Back

The elegant back view of a man was all that could be seen as he gazed down from the floor-to-ceiling window of his office. His posture made him look like a dark king watching the daily activities of his people.

Cars passed one after the other but the silvery gray eyes of the man stayed in one spot. The man's gaze wavered at once when a knock came on the door.

"Come in." He answered and the face of his assistant came into view. He was Assistant Li. As his name indicated, he had a chinese background but his mother was American.

"Speak." The man ordered and Assistant Li quickly started talking so he could leave the room. His boss' mood was akin to that of a light bulb that continuously flickered on and off.

"Sir, I have done the job you asked me to. The lady's name is Arabelle Diaz. Born on the 2nd of July. Her parents divorced when she was 15 and since then, she has used Monroe as her surname instead. Her mother died last night due to being shot in the head by her father."

He continued. "Her father does have a criminal record and but he has managed to maintain an angel-like view in front of people." Assistant Li relayed and with a wave of the hand of the man standing by the window side, he quickly bolted out of the room before the man was displeased.

"Arabelle Diaz or should I say Monroe?" A smirk graced the man's features as her name rolled off his tongue.

Meanwhile....

Arabelle's eyes fluttered open. Her eyes were hazy due to the fact that she had just woken up. A yawn escaped her lips as she stretched her limbs on the bed. She had no idea of how she had managed to drag herself home last night. She quickly climbed off the bed but as she stood fully, a banging headache hit her immediately.

She quickly rushed to the kitchen and grabbed a bottled water from the fridge. She walked back to her room and went to the bedside, popping two advils into her mouth immediately. She gasped realizing that she had to go to work. She undressed with speed as fast as that of lightning and rushed into the shower. As soon as the water hit her body, she suddenly remembered what had happened the night before.

The strange man she had met that had asked her of how she would make them pay. She didn't remember the face of the man but the only thing she could remember was his distinctly deep and masculine voice that held power in them. Her ears echoed with the words he had said before he left.

_I will give you time to think about it...._

Her apathetic eyes looked forward at nothing. She didn't need time to think about it. She had made up her mind to destroy them all. Her former fiance, her step-sister who always acted like a white lotus, her step-mother and finally her supposed dad. She didn't care if she died after destroying them because at that point, to her, her death would be worth it.

A bitter taste arose in her throat when she thought of Ryder. She would have never thought that the relationship she thought was on a steady path after going through the ups and downs of the sea of time, would still drown in the end due to it colliding with a wave. And the biggest wave was her step-sister.

Her thoughts wavered when she felt the temperature of her body gradually turning cold due to the water hitting against her skin for a long time. She quickly turned off the shower and grabbed a towel from the rack before heading out of the bathroom. She quickly applied lotion on her body before ransacking her closet for what to wear.

She finally went for a black knee length pencil skirt with a white button-up shirt. She grabbed a black closed toe heel and wore it before rushing out of her room and then finally out the house.

She walked to the nearest bus station hurriedly and boarded a bus going to her destination. She finally felt like she could breathe when she had settled down inside the bus with her head leaning against the window. She closed her eyes for a bit but the voice of the man at the bar the night before attacked her mind immediately.

She groaned, thinking of his words again. She knew that immediately he accepted to help her, there was no turning back. And somehow, her gut feeling told her the man could find her if he wanted to.

The bus finally stopped and she got down from it quickly. Her eyes quickly met with the sign on top of the building in front of her that said 'RAMLEY'S CORPS.' With a sigh, she headed into the building. It was a big company in the country and she worked there as an accountant.

Her steps increased as she walked to the elevator which took her to the 5th floor. As soon as she was in the accounting department, her eyes met with the head, Khloe who shot a nasty look at her. She didn't like her and the feeling was definitely mutual.

She silently walked to her seat and it seemed as if Khloe was looking for someone to trouble that morning because the next second, she uttered "It seems like some people think this is their father's company and they can arrive anytime they like."

Arabelle rolled her eyes at this. She couldn't even begin to count the amount of times that Khloe had been late to work just because she had stupid people of her caliber sucking up to her to help her do the work.

Seeing that Arabelle didn't reply, Khloe pressed further "Oh, I forgot that you and your father don't have the normal father-daughter relationship. He would have probably killed you long ago if you were working in his company with this kind of attitude."

Arabelle stared at her with an unwavering gaze. Her lips slowly curved up into an unamused smile as she stared at Khloe. She was simply crossing the line. And besides, Mr. Diaz wouldn't kill her since he still had use for her.
