Chapter 9 - Invitation

"I missed you. I have just been busy." Arabelle spoke and Ava exhaled loudly over the phone.

"You have just indirectly told me your work is more important than me. Huhu." Ava dramatically made a crying sound at the end of her words.

"I do consider my work more important than you. I can't survive on you, can I? I need to earn money to survive." Arabelle replied rather straightforwardly.

Just then, the driver turned back to her and since he knew she was on a call, he mouthed. "We are here ma'am."

Arabelle nodded before getting out of the car. "Ava, I just got to work. I've to go. Bye." She didn't wait for a response hanging up.

She walked to the main entrance of her company and her eyes was immediately layered with frost seeing the two people standing in front of her workplace. One's face was covered with disgust while the other had a fake smile on. Both were pathetic people.

"Sister, how are you?" Nina asked in an extra girly voice that almost made Arabelle cringe.

"I was fine." She paused then continued. "Till I saw your faces." Her voice was cold and distant.

"Sister, who was that that dropped you off? The car is very expensive. If I am correct, it is a Bugatti Chiron Profilée and it is worth quite a lot of millions." There was no doubt that whoever listened to her 'innocent' step-sister would think she was doing something dirty outside.

Ryder who got her underlying message spoke. "I didn't know you would stoop so low after dating me to go and get a sugar daddy." Ryder's tone had a hint of jealousy in it. No matter how rich he was, he couldn't afford to get the car that had just zoomed off right in front of him.

Arabelle chuckled. She stared at Ryder with distaste. She suddenly wondered what she saw in him. He didn't even have up to half the features that Asher had. At this point, in her eyes, he was just plain and ordinary.

"Even if I did have a sugar daddy, at least he is 20 times better than you."

Ryder's eyes burned with rage as he turned to Nina. "I told you not to let us come here. We tried to be nice to her but she just wants to be resentful. She is ungrateful. Don't bother about her and let's leave."

Nina bit the inside of her cheeks hard, with tears glistening in her eyes as she tugged on Ryder's sleeve. "Honey, you know I don't like to see you like this. She is my sister and I love her. Since I came here today, I must accomplish everything at once."

Arabelle almost vomited blood at her act of coquettishness. Nina walked up to her, with a pretty smile on her face before forcefully stuffing an envelope into her hand. Her long nails scratched Arabelle's hand in the process, leaving an ugly red mark.

Arabelle didn't react. It stung a little but that was it.

"I hope you will be able to come to our engagement party. It is in the next 4 days. Sister, I really hope you can attend." Nina smiled insincerely.

Ryder sneered hatefully. "It isn't our problem if she doesn't come. You have given her the invitation. But if she indeed doesn't come, then that means she hasn't gotten over me." He said smugly.

Arabelle snorted loudly. These two shameless people looked like they had somehow forgotten that they were the ones who cheated and not her. They made it seem like she was unforgiving, when their act of backstabbing wasn't forgivable in the first place.

"If you think I am still into you, you must be dreaming. I don't even honestly know what I saw in you. You are just a cheap dog that will head to whoever throws him a bone."

"And you." She pointed at Nina. "You randomly throw your self at any man just to feel satisfaction. I hope you're very satisfied with my leftovers."

She turned to Ryder, a small glint in her eyes due to the satisfaction of finally putting the two in their places. "You can definitely not lie that my sister didn't seduce you with her body. It's the same tactics she uses and I realize it works every time. At least, I am not like her that would offer just any one my body before marriage."

Ryder was speechless. Nina had indeed come over to his house on a certain day. She suddenly started removing her clothes and as a man with sexual urges, he could not resist her. But later on, she said she did it because she loved him and he couldn't resist her pure attitude and face. They had started dating for about 2 months behind Arabelle's back.

Nina's face reddened with anger. "I did no such thing. Sister, I am trying to be nice but it seems you don't need me in your life. I have told you that if you still want Ryder, I will gladly leave him for you as long as you are happy." Nina quickly defended. The tears that had been held back before slowly trickled down her cheeks.

Seeing this, Ryder softened. "Why would you leave me for her? You are the one I love and no one can change that. I don't like seeing you cry."

Arabelle almost burst out in laughter. It was quite funny seeing those two pretend to care for one another. "I would have loved to continue to see your public display of affection but I got better things to do." She hissed out, bumping shoulders with Nina on purpose.

'They deserve each other. Two senseless backstabbers.' She thought inwardly. Her steps quickened as she walked into the company. She had wasted so much time with them and she was much more late than she was initially meant to be. They were like two stains that refused to leave her side.

And remembering that Khloe would have another reason to talk throughout the entire day, she groaned internally. Today was going to a very long day.
