Chapter 2 - Chapter 2: Friend visits town

Friday

Jacob's POV

I was sitting at the local bar(Joe's Cavern) with my childhood friend (Tony; who tried his best to keep me out of trouble) drinking beer and just catching him up everything.

"Well even though you haven't mentioned it, I can tell this place is a lot like the place we grew up." He said looking around and seeing the people who were looking at us while they whispered and talked.

Tony has a tattoo sleeve on his right arm and he shook his head before drinking more of his beer.

"But they are some good people here too I think; I mean Lauren seems okay." I said before drinking some of my beer and he smiled at me.

"What?" I asked.

"That's the 9th time since we gotten here that you have mentioned this girl. You are crushing hard on this one aren't you?" He asked smiling really big at me.

"I'm just saying she's cool and hasn't judged me based on my appearance. Plus nothing can happen with this girl she is the preacher's daughter." I said.

"Ouch." He said as he stopped smiling and shaking his head at me.

"That's some bad luck there; is she cute though?" He asked as I drunk more of my beer.

"She's different." I said and he smiled at me.

"You two look like you need some refills." I heard a girl say.

I looked to see a girl with long dark brown hair leaning against the bar counter and looking at Tony and me. She looked familiar then I remembered I had seen her with Lauren before.

"Sure." Tony said smiling at her and she nodded her head.

"Hey Ricky, get our two new people some beers please." She said looking at the bartender and he nodded his head at her.

"I don't think we have officially been introduced but I'm sure you have seen me hanging out with Lauren; I'm Olivia." She said smiling at me and holding out her left hand which had a big engagement ring on it.

"Jacob." I said shaking her hand.

"Greg says you are doing a good job at the church." She said after she lowered her hand onto the counter.

"Is he your fiancé?" I asked.

"Yes he is." She said smiling really big at me.

Lauren's POV

"So who's your friend?" Olivia asked as she leaned against the bar counter and looking at Jacob plus his friend.

His friend has very short dark brown hair and blue eyes. He looked to be the same height as Jacob. Ricky put down two beers in front of them after that and Jacob's friend quickly reached for the new beer since his other one was empty.

"I'm Tony." The guy said smiling at Olivia.

"Wow, look who decided to grace us with her presence." Ricky said when he saw me.

Olivia and them looked to see me as I stopped at the counter (on Olivia's right side).

"I would be nice; I work with your wife." I said and Ricky laughed before smiling at me.

He reached under the counter before opening a bottle of Coke and sitting it down in front of me which made Olivia smile.

"Hey, where's your fiancé? I need to talk to him about something." I said turning to face Olivia and she turned to face me.

"Not here yet but I can go outside and call him to hurry him up." She said.

"Yes please." I said and she smiled at me before walking away.

I drunk some of my Coke after that.

"I pegged you right; you don't drink alcohol." Jacob said taking over the spot Olivia was in so he was standing very close to me.

"No I don't." I said looking at him and he smiled at me.

"You should meet my friend." He said.

"Sure." I said walking closer to where he was sitting at before.

He stopped beside me on my left side and he stood very close to me.

"Lauren, this is Tony; my childhood and still best friend." He said smiling at me then looking at Tony.

"So this is Lauren." Tony said smiling at me.

Jacob shook his head after that.

"I hope you have heard nothing but good things about me." I said looking at Tony then at Jacob.

"Of course all good things." Jacob said and I nodded my head before looking away.

"Yeah he was telling me how you made him feel welcomed here." Tony said.

"Well I couldn't let him stay outside. I mean having someone sleeping outside our church wouldn't have looked good." I said and Tony laughed.

"Oh so you did it just to keep your image perfect." Jacob said.

I felt his right hand on the small part of my back after he got finished talking.

"And the church's image and the church is a big deal around here." I said looking at him and he shook his head at me.

"So I have figured out." He said.

"Hey, Greg said he would be here soon." Olivia said as she walked towards us.

Jacob dropped his hand from my back after that and took a small step away from me.

"Then we should go grab a table but you two have fun catching up." I said looking at Olivia then at Jacob and Tony as Jacob sat back down in his seat.

"We will." Tony said and I nodded my head before grabbing my Coke then walking away.

I stayed at the bar until 11 before going home and Tony plus Jacob was still there when I left.
