Chapter 5 - Upgrade

"Point score: 7"

When Diedrich heard the score he felt pretty satisfied with himself " I have avenged the dead and am racking up points however it seems that I should target lone targets unless I'm sure I can win, if I did not kill the spear goblin in one shot it would have been a very risky fight for me", Diedrich contemplated within himself.

Diedrich then cautiously went back towards the inner area of the forest, along the way he saw 2 more regular goblins and one goblin warrior, he easily killed the two regular goblins with the spear.

However, the goblin warrior was a bit tougher than he had expected.

Diedrich reasoned since he had easily killed the spear goblin, the goblin warrior whose weapons were his fists and only looked like a muscled version of a normal goblin, would be easily slaughtered, so Diedrich had underestimated it and threw a spear at the goblin from a distance thinking that would be the end.

However, the goblin noticed the spear coming and in the nick of time was able to dodge, it then charged at Diedrich.

Diedrich became a bit nervous as he didn't know if he was as strong as the goblin so he quickly took the trusty stick that he had attached with a beast skin he had Uhmm lets say borrowed, from a dead goblin, and tried to circle around to where his spear landed.

Before he could reach the spear the warrior goblin came at him, making Diedrich fiercely swing the stick, the goblin in response put its arms in a position to block the swing. As the stick and arms collided, the stick didn't prevail and broke, slightly shocking Diedrich.

What shocked him, even more, was that although the jacked-up arms of the goblin looked bruised, it did not look too bad and the goblin only took TWO STEPS BACKWARDS.

Though the two steps were enough for Diedrich to run and grab the spear, and from then the fight ended pretty quickly, although the warrior goblin attacked fiercely every time it swung its fists it would stop for balance, it didn't seem too bright.

So Diedrich would simply jump backwards at just the correct time and poke holes in the goblin with the spear, and this process repeated itself about 12 times until it finally collapsed and died due to blood loss.

Diedrich felt physically and mentally drained after the battle. During the battle he had slipped up once, jumping too late, and was hit by the warrior goblin, but due to his inertia from jumping backwards the blow was softened although it was still very powerful and blasted him back an additional meter, it also left a nasty bruise on his chest.

After the battle, Diedrich felt lucky that he had done a sneak attack on the spear goblin otherwise, he would have probably died, seeing how tough the fight against the goblin warrior was.

"Killed Goblin warrior +2 "

"Point score: 11 ✩ "

When Diedrich saw the notification he revealed a bitter smile although he had won the battle it had exhausted and injured him, he was now in no state to continue to the inner forest.

Diedrich looked at the notification in front of him again and noticed something was off there was a star next to the point score, just as Diedrich was thinking "Why is there a star", he felt a warm energy surround his body and slowly seep into his skin it felt very comfortable, after a few seconds the energy had completely seeped into his skin and he felt rejuvenated.

Diedrich was trembling with energy, he felt like his entire body had been strengthened, even the injury felt less painful and already had signs of healing, it would probably heal completely in a few days.

Diedrich felt amazing, wanting to find an outlet for the energy and to test his power he went up to a tree and struck it with all his might, although he immediately regretted the decision as it hurt his hand.

However, when he looked at the tree a surprising smile appeared on his face, he had left a dent in the tree in the form of his fist, if he had to guess his strength was about equal to a goblin warrior!!.

Diedrich thought to himself," How did I get this strength? Is it from the star that suddenly appeared? Yes, it must be, but then again how and where did the power come from? Ahh never mind this is a fantasy place there are F*cking goblins running around, I know nothing of this place except that it is apparently a trial, when I have more information I will think about it again otherwise I will only be guessing".

Then another notion struck Diedrich" If I get this much power from one star how much will I get from two, also how many points will I need to get the next star? I feel like it would be too easy if I get another one just by getting 10 or 11 more points".

Diedrich, being more confident in himself, continued his journey to the inner forest, while walking he noticed that most goblins were now in groups.

"It seems that at the edge of the forest, there are fewer goblins, I was lucky I was there when the goblins appeared".

The deeper Diedrich went in the forest the more worried he became as he saw more and more goblins grouped together, and it was getting increasingly difficult to avoid them, so Diedrich stopped moving forward and climbed up a tree so that no goblin could spot him.

Diedrich noticed that the sun was about to set and it was soon getting dark, the few goblin groups also seemed to notice and turned around from where they were and all headed in one direction.

Diedrich was confused, " Are they going back to their lair", while thinking this he also remembered that the direction the goblins were headed too was where he had seen one of the giant holes that led underground, Diedrich suspected that was where the goblins most likely came from.

Diedrich seeing no more goblins stayed in the tree for about twenty more minutes and then went down, walking back to the last place he had seen humans.
