Chapter 8 - Chapter 8

Flashback

The thirst in my throat burns wildly. As run behind AB. My eyes and nose searched frantically to find something to sink my teeth in. Feeling sorry for the creature I finally land on, I suck the blood out of a fox.

"Feel better Darling?" AB asks.

I nod.

He places a cold hand on my face, and I jump. I still miss Chetan's warm touch. I hear the wolves howl, I send pain to my heart. Ajay's howl is full of Misery and so is mine lately.

"You ready AB?" asks Ace.

"If you have an altercation with werewolves, race back to the cave Ash is there," AB tells me.

"Where are you guys going?" I feel panic, not knowing the havoc AB has planned.

"I have some business to take care of, sweet girl," AB says with a grin.

"What kind of business?" I swallow hard, knowing I shouldn't have asked.

AB comes behind me, grabbing my chin slightly. "The fewer questions you ask, the better."

I nod. Trying to hide my fear.

Moments later, walking through the forest, I listen with all my might trying to catch any pieces of the pack's conversations. My great hearing is the only thing that keeps me connected with them.

The leaves crunch beneath my feet as I walk. I sing as I walk.

"Howl little wolf to the bright full moon.

Run, little wolf, for the battle begins soon.

With sharp teeth, one little bite wolf wins the fight.

Howl, little wolf with all your might."

I smile, remembering Dev singing the song to me. I even missed him. His silliness and sarcasm. My ears hear roaring in the distance, and I smell Chetan's scent so sweet, inviting me in.

"Chetan?" I scream.

Was he coming back for me? Would I leave?

In moments, a strong wolf knocks me unto the ground. I cry in fear. Looking up, I see Chetan as his slubber falls and hits my face. His teeth are showing, and he rattles like a caged animal.

"Chetan please." I cry.

He changes into his human form. I stand there clueless, shocked, and confused.

"See that's what you do, cry bat an eyelash, and you have me wrapped around your finger," he says with a red, hateful face.

"I am sorry, I miss you so much."

"I came here to kill you, Zare," he hisses.

I swallow hard. "Then why aren't you?"

"Because I can't. You look at me, and my heart is yours, and I could never harm you." He grabs his head.

Hearing the rushing of feet, I know it's Ash. "Zare," he screams, jumping in front of me and snarling at Chetan.

"It's fine, he wasn't going to hurt me, we are just talking." I smile, trying my best to hide the fact I was terrified.

Chetan wastes no time dashing off into the woods. Ash and I walk towards the cave. It was silent at first, but then I finally broke the silence.

"You can't tell anybody about this."

"Zare, I can't lie to AB," Ash stops walking.

"Please," I beg with watery eyes.

I know either one of two things would happen, the vampires would start a fight with the werewolves, or Chetan would get in severe trouble because I know Ajay did not give him permission to seek me out.

"Fine, nothing happened."

"Thanks," I say, kissing him on the cheek.

Once back at the cave, we sit and watch squirrels chase each other up the tree. The tiny creatures are so stupid, they don't even realize the biggest predator in the world is watching them.

"Do you think you'll ever be with Chetan again?" He asks.

I shake my head. "I don't know."

Hearing AB's evil crackling, I know he's reached the cave. And AB is laughing, you know he's up to something devious.

AB enters the cave with Ace by his side, dropping a dead man's hand at my feet.

"Zare, I thought you could use a hand," AB laughs.

I scream, covering up my mouth. Completely disgusted by the maniacs I live with.

Present time

Springing upright and waking up, I tried to shake off the horrid dream I had.

"Bad dream?" Chetan asks, rubbing my back.

"Yeah," I couldn't help the tears in my eyes.

"It was only a dream, love," Chetan says, kissing my neck.

"It was more like a flashback."

"From your time with the clan?"

"Yeah." I rub my eyes.

"But that's not your life anymore, and it never will be." He kisses me on the neck.

I leave out the details that my dream was about the time Chetan was thinking about killing me. It's just another scar on our relationship. I stretch walking and I hear the chopping of wood.

After putting on Chetan's t-shirt, I walk out, I see Ajay chopping wood viciously. I stare with my eyes wide open deciding if I want to walk over or not. He stops and takes a swig of whiskey. I notice his eyes are bloodshot.

I walk over and place my hand over his. I feel how sweaty his hands are.

"Ajay." I look up at him.

"It's my fault what happened to Aanya."

"Stop punishing yourself." I rub his back.

"I can't."He takes another drink of whiskey.

I reach my hand out for the bottle.

"What?" He raises an eyebrow.

"I want a drink."

"Of whiskey," he laughs.

I nod, placing a hand on the bottle.

"Fine." He hands me the bottle.

I take a big drink, and it burns going down. I gag a little.

Ajay shakes his head. "Now give it back." He reaches out his hand.

I shake my head. "It's mine now," I smirk.

Turning my back in the other direction, I plan on putting the bottle in the den for safekeeping.

I feel Ajay's strong arms around me. "Give it back," he whispers in my ear.

I laugh, shaking my head no. I feel Ajay tickling my sides trying to get the bottle back. I couldn't help but giggle.

I trip over from laughing, falling to the ground with Ajay on top of me. He gently moves the hair from my face. "Now give it back," he demands.

I held up the bottle and he took it. He got up from the ground and held out his hand to help me up.

"Zare, where are your pants?" He shakes his head.

"I don't need pants."

"In a pack full of men, you need pants.

Standing up the shirt covers me, but during the fall it must have got lifted up.

Looking back at the den, I see Chetan standing in the doorway watching us. He doesn't look amused by the way his arms are crossed. I turn to walk away, I feel Ajay slap my butt, "put some pants on."

I hear he went back to chopping wood. Chetan lays back down as I enter.

"You have fun?" He asks. He narrows his eyes at me.

"We were just playing."

"The butt slap was too far."

"Chetan, you don't get offended when Dev acts that way towards me."

"You didn't have sex with Dev once upon a time ago."

"He probably would have if I offered."

Chetan laughs. Nodding his head in agreement. "Fine, you win." He holds open his arms. I climb on top of him, straddling him. Bringing my lips to him, I kiss him.

I love the feel of Chetan's hands going up my back, and how he nibbles on my neck.

"Pack meeting," I hear Ajay call.

"Not not," I pout.

Chetan kisses my head. "You will need to wait until tonight, baby."

''Chetan please," I beg.

Chetan flips me over so my bottom was in the air. "But we are doing it doggie style," he says, pulling down my underwear.

Once we were done, I quickly put on Chetan's sweater and my underwear. Chetan puts his hand up in protest, throwing me pajama pants.

"Pants now." He laughs.

"Fine," I roll my eyes.

"I will spank that ass," he says, slapping my butt as we walk out.

The meeting has already started something about starting Zombie runs again to give Elfie a break. I hear walking up.

"I hope you two have a good explanation for being late, and not coming when I called," Ajay says.

"Zare wanted it and couldn't wait for tonight, so I had to satisfy her," Chetan says with that goofy look on his face.

Everyone burst out laughing.

I feel my cheek turn red with embarrassment. As everyone's eyes are upon me, I just want to sink into the ground. Luckily Kirsten stayed in the trailer watching TV, I would assume because she wasn't there.

Dev laughs so hard he spits out the water he's been drinking. "Riya, we are using that excuse next time," he says.

She just rolls her eyes.

Ajay shakes his head. "I should not have asked."

We all turn to walk away, but stop hearing Ajay speak, we stop. "One other thing, the beer is all dumped down the sink, we need a clear head on runs now."

"What why?" The boys all gasp.

"Why would you dump out perfectly good beer, not cool?" shouts Dev.

"How about your whiskey?" I ask with a smirk.

Ajay laughs. "Alphas benefits."

"That's bull," says Dev, narrowing his eyes.

The racing of hooves grabs everybody's attention, and we know exactly who it is. Elfie and his Centaurus are approaching. They gallop towards us fast, making me wonder if this is a sense of urgency. The Centaurs normally just don't come over to hang out to start with.

"Why didn't you warn us about the King?" Elfie yells entering the camp.

"Because I'm still trying to figure it out myself," Ajay says with his arms crossed.

"Zero, says he warned you months ago," Elfie says rearing.

Ajay laughs. Shaking his head.

"Ajay, there has to be some misunderstanding."

"Zare, there is a misunderstanding, your friend is a liar, and I will not put up with traders", Ajay says, taking a deep breath.
