Once back at camp, I open my eyes, done pretending I am sleeping. Once Chetan sits me to my feet, I run off to find Ash.
"Where are you going?" Chetan calls after me.
He sits with Abooksigun under the oak tree. She lays her head on his shoulder and his head on top of hers. Their hands are entangled with each other.
"We need to talk, Ash." I am not sure how he'll react with the crazy thoughts eloping in my mind.
"About?"
"It's important." I look at Abookisgun tipping Ash. I don't want to speak with her around.
"Give me a minute babe," Ash starts to raise up, and Abookisgun groans.
"I'll only be a minute," he kisses her on the head.
We walk slightly towards the forest entrance. I feel nervous about how to start this conversation, but I know he's going to be my biggest Ally. Once we distance ourselves from the others, I open my mouth to talk.
"Zare, what's wrong?" He beats me to it.
"I am going to kill Ajay." I almost put my hand on my mouth, not believing I said the words.
Ash stares at me blankly for a moment. "Have you lost your mind?"
"Ash, he killed Zero," I cry.
Ash's eyes grow big, "Ajay doesn't just kill for no reason, he had to have one."
"Not a good enough one for me."
"Zare, I can't help you. Ajay is a good man. You just need to think about everything before you act."
I nod.
Ash brings his cold hands to my face, lifting up my chain so he can look into my eyes. "And Zare is a good girl; she doesn't kill people."
I close my eyes, seeing Zero's head roll across the floor. I bite my lip, trying not to scream.
"Zare, you need to calm your thoughts, speak with Chetan or Dev, they will ease your pain," he tells me before walking towards Abookisgun.
If he won't give me the knife, I'm going to take it.
I move towards where Ash and Abookisgun hang out. Behind the trailer, in between two pine trees.
I get to their spot moving blankets all around, frantically searching for the homemade knife Ash made. Where could it be? The fuzzy blankets rub up against my hand as I flip them around. Feeling relief when I finally uncovered a knife under a pillow. Picking it up, I slid it into my pocket. I quickly try to put their blankets back as normal as possible.
Ajay laughs with the others as if nothing has happened. As if you didn't just end that creature's life. Is that how I'm going to act when I end this? I close my eyes, still seeing Zero's head. I swallow the pain, for I will have my revenge.
Once in the den, I hear Chetan's Snoring feeling relief that he tuned in early. I lay down, not trying to wake him. Once the pack member was also asleep, I make my move to end the Alpha's life.
Closing my eyes, I plan. I'll quickly stab Ajay in the heart. He won't even see it coming. It will be easy. 123! Dead.
I hear the campfire die out. I sit up looking around, my eyes notice everyone is sleeping, and my ear is not hearing a sound. I tiptoe to the camper, where I know Ajay will be sleeping on the couch.
I crack open the door, it quietly squeaks. Looking around, I see Ajay lying motionless on the couch. Taking a deep breath, I pull the knife out of my pocket. I move over to Ajay and raise the knife in my hand. Over his body. His hand grabs my arms, pulling me on top of him. I groan a little in pain from his tight grip.
He flips us around, so he pinned me to the couch, my arms above my head.
"You're going to kill me, Zare?" he smirks.
"Ash tipped you off. I raise an eyebrow. "I feel betrayed and angry.
"It doesn't matter, you wouldn't have succeeded anyway."
I roll my eyes.
"You know this would be great foreplay," he says, bringing his lips to mine.
The familiar taste of his lips overtakes me, and for some reason, I kiss him.
He stops our kiss. "You know I've been lying here, trying to come up with what punishment is suitable for trying to kill the Alpha."
I take a deep breath. "Just kill me like you did Zero."
"I'm going to release your arms, and get off of you. Then when I do, you're going to calmly give me the knife. I trust you and I know this isn't Zare."
I nod
"That's a good girl." He kisses me again.
Ajay gets off me. I look at the knife in my hand. I suddenly feel ashamed of myself. Taking a deep breath, I hand Ajay the knife
"Zare, I know you're hurting, but you're going to have to accept that Zero was the enemy, even leading us on that the witches were the most powerful creatures."
"But," I open my mouth to speak. Ajay puts his finger in front of my mouth.
"There are no buts he was bad." He rubs my cheek
"Do you know how severely I could punish you for trying to kill me?"
I nod.
"I should banish you from the pack, or I can tie you to a tree, like we do Ash when there's a full moon and he'll hurt someone."
I cry. I know."
"But I'm going to overlook this mental breakdown and it won't happen again," he tells me, running his finger over my lower lip. I quiver.
He holds up his arms, "let's cuddle for a while, and then you can sneak in bed with Chetan," he tells me.
I shake my head knowing I should return before I do something I regret.
