Well, today I have made choices. I am finally using my stats. I saved some for latter. I don't know if I'll need them later.
I skipped the charm stat cause it could be a hassle. Also it's a bit of a useless stat.
I didn't do mana cause it's to dangerous. Adding mana to something is dangerous. I'll experiment that later.
I had ended up spending a lot of time cleaning up. Than I spent the rest of the day at the library. Reading some random history books. Mostly war stuff.
I ended up adding stats to experiment the effects on me. It was pretty self explanatory.
The only downside is no stat applied will be returned. The effects are permanent. Which I kind of knew going in.
Well I've made my bed. I sleep in it.
Now I'm on my way to the bakery and than the store. I haven't been there since I got my cake. If I don't go now, it'll just happen tomorrow.
I stood outside the bakery now looking in the window. Inside there he is. His skin as black as the night sky, eyes crystal blue, and hair a solid white.
At that moment he lifted a stack of empty baskets and walked away from the window. Giving me a very good look at all his muscles. Including the most important muscles, the gluteal muscles.
I should go in and stop being creepy. I don't even know this guy's name. I scuffle in before I turn into a stalker. A loud ding ringing threw the bakery.
I wave at him when he looks at me. He just goes back to his work. I pick out a simple loaf of white bread and go up to pay.
He wraps it and takes my money. Not a word. Barely looking at me. "Thanks." I say and leave.
I think I'm only into this guy because of his body anyway. It'll never amount to anything. If it does it probably won't be healthy, and short lived.
I carried on my way. I wonder how Anita is. I'm still worried about her of course. Though I'm not letting paranoia take over.
She'll tell me when she's ready and I need to be okay with that.
By the time the sun started setting I arrived. With the yellow light sprinkled everywhere I didn't realize till I tried opening the door.
It's locked with the sign on the door flipped to closed.
That's weird. Today isn't a holiday. It's Spring so it's too busy to close this early. Is Anita sick? She was fine when I saw her last. Though that was two days ago.
I looked threw the window into the empty store. I looks... exactly how it was when I was kicked out.
I mean exactly. I leaned the broom against the wall when I was being kicked out. It's still there. I also see the pile I was sweeping up.
I see a Golden Egg music box on the check out desk. I think it the same one that someone was asking about before they were kicked out.
Okay something is wrong. I need to go to the house. I know where Anita keeps her spare key for the store. She showed me just in case.
I started running after stuffing the bread in the inventory. Feeling the full effects of my new agility. I'm not mind-blowing fast, but I am noticably faster.
It didn't take me long to reach the neighborhood. Where I slowed down. The sun finished setting and the lights turned on.
I'm the only one outside. No neighbors to great me. I didn't pass any patrolling guards. Lights inside most homes were on. The sound of life filled inside each one.
I still rushed. My paranoia seeping in.
A couple lights were on when I arrived calming my heart. Gosh I need to calm down.
I opened the gate and let myself in. "Hi Grandma it's me." I called into the house. Taking off my cloak and shoes.
I heard footsteps and Grandma walked out of the living room. "Chi Chi, where's Anita? Why are you out so late?" She asked and my blood turned cold.
I must have misunderstood. I looked at my dear old confused Grandma.
"What do you mean where is Anita?" I asked. Just say something that makes sense. Please anything.
"What do I mean? Anita spent the last two nights at your place." She said, exasperated.
For a moment the word stood still. Two nights. I understand what she said but reality was taking a minute.
I swallowed. "No she wasn't with me." I say my mind reeling. I got to keep cool and focused. I can't let Grandma freek out. I can't freek out.
Anita is not a person that goes off and disappears. She is rational to the point of being cold. She has a reason for this I know it.
'Patience has leveled up.'
Hey, not now. I gave Grandma a smile activating my acting skill. Level 2 may suck but I need everything right now.
"She must have got up cataloguing the spring shipment. We got some interesting stuff this year. She probably ended up sleeping at the shop. I'll grab the spare key and go check on her." I say smiling and trying to act calm.
I head to the second floor where Anita's room is. "Didn't she hire you so she wouldn't be sleeping in the shop?" Grandma yelled after me sarcastically.
No she hired me to keep me off the streets and give me a better life. Though at the time, it was more so that I could help Grandma. So that Anita could focus of work more.
It wasn't a good time for Grandma's health. I entered Anita's pristine room and grabbed the spare key from under her bedside table.
I headed back to the entrance. With my acting skill still activated I descended the stairs. "I'm sure it's nothing. Anita is a tier 3 mage. What is there to worry about." I said. Not sure if it's more for me or her.
'Acting has leveled up.'
I will take it. I gotta keep Grandma calm. She'll insist on coming with me. I love her but no.
"That is true. Oh I'm sure your right. Though if she is of gallivanting with a guy it'll be nice." Grandma said. Wishful thinking indeed.
Anita is not interested in anyone. Almost religiously. If there way a god for being single for life she would be the high priestess.
I quickly put on my shoes grabbing my cloak. I give her a smile, putting my right hand on her shoulder. "I'll go take care of this thing with Anita. Than we will both come back and have some hot tea."
I dart out before she can go any further. I walk as to not raise suspicion with her.
"Well be quick about it it's dark out. It could be dangerous." She says almost following me out.
I reached the gate and looked back at her. "Of course. I'll be right back."
'Acting has leveled up.'
I closed the date walking off waving at her.
As soon as I was out of eyesight I activated Stealth and ran threw the shadows. I need to find Anita.
I ran threw the streets keeping stealth activated. I don't need people and the city guards stopping me.
I do need to stay calm though. Anita is not like me. Weak cannon fodder. A tier three mage can immediately join any mage tower.
Though I have gotten stronger and faster, I am still very weak. She is smarter, faster, more skilled, experienced, and not someone I should be so worried about.
I finally reached the store. I went to the back door and unlocked it.
'Stealth has leveled up.'
Oh. I'll leave it active for now.
I opened the door to the hallway. The light in the office on, illuminating the hallway threw window in the door.
I walked to the office looking in. Empty.
Than opened the door to the cleaning room, peering in. Dark but empty.
Finally the the main part of the store. It was pretty well illuminated by the lights outside. Money was still in the register. A fair amount to. I looked threw the entire main part of the store.
Again, dark but empty.
I walked back to the office, walking in this time.
Organized. Top to bottom, nothing out of place. Except for a letter. Front and center on the desk.
A letter, with my name on it.
I slowly sat in the seat. She isn't here and she left me a letter with a note on it.
'Chi Chi, open this if I go missing.'
I don't like this. I want to go back to before today. I hesitate. I want Anita to walk in right now and tell me it's all solved now. Nothing to worry about.
I don't know how long I sit there but I finally open the letter. Because the truth is that she is missing.
I pulled out a lot of folded up paper. I unfolded them and started reading the letter left for me.
'Dear Chi Chi,
You won't have much time after you read this. I tried to solve this but if I'm not back go pack a bag. Go to your Grandma and have her pack a bag. Than both of you leave the city.
Go to the temple of light in the city of Alias. Seek shelter there. I will try to get to you within a week. If not, the rest of these papers will tell you what to do.'
I spent the last two days gallivanting. I should have come here yesterday. I should have trusted my instincts. I knew something was wrong.
I jumped up shoving the papers in my inventory. I walked to the safe and opened it. I took the money and a couple other things also shoving it in my inventory. I even when to grab the cash in the register.
Than I left the store locking it up tight. I don't want to believe it but it's true. My family is in danger and we don't got a lot of time.
We only have time to run.
