First day of the New Year, 1503
Galan was standing in the training grounds as Olvia walked out with a firm face. He looked at her and said "The best way to improve Haki is direct combat. As well as strength training, therefore you will be starting an intensive exercise regimen from today onwards. After training, we will fight until you collapse or achieve Blackening."
Olvia smiled as she looked at him, nodding wordlessly. Galan looked at her for a moment before saying "Your mind was strengthened while unlocking Observation Haki, now we must strengthen the body. Let's begin."
Galan planned the perfect training regimen for Olvia going through each of them before allowing her to train.
A while later, when she was exhausted, Galan covered his fists in Haki and punched Olvia in the stomach. She dodged and punched at him, but he caught her fist in an instant and pulled, kneeing her in the stomach, making her exhale sharply as her eyes widened.
He elbowed her back and smashed her into the ground, saying "Get up. This is a High Stress scenario. Work on both forms of Haki available to you." she coughed on the ground and muttered weakly "No threats?"
Galan looked at her and replied "Robin has been sold out 27 times already, has been hunted across nearly every blue in the span of 7-8 months by Bounty Hunters, Marines, and Pirates alike. Even normal people blinded by Greed are chomping at the bit to get their hands on her."
He paused for a moment before adding "And you're on the ground. Weak. Fragile. Helpless. Trapped on an island with no escape of your own volition, preferring to provide comfort to a stranger you don't know, rather than going to aid your daughter. I don't need your pity. I don't need your company. I don't need anyone other than myself. Your daughter needs all these things and you just don't care, maybe she would be better off if you were a memory."
Olvia laid on the ground and smiled sadly, saying softly "You think I don't know? You won't let me leave. She would've been in arguably more danger with the Revolutionary Army even if I went to take her in. I just want her to live a normal life, why won't anyone let her? What crime did I commit to have this consequence…"
Galan frowned and said slowly "This is the real world. Not a fantasy where you can chase after dreams without a care in the world. Continuing someone else's legacy at the expense of your child may turn out fine in the fantasy world you thought you were living in. However the world we live in is cruel. People everywhere are pressed under the thumb of the World Government as they rule over everyone as a group of Tyrants."
Olvia looked up at him and he snorted from his nose, staring into her eyes as he added "Welcome to the shit. We live knee deep in mud, claw at shit, and stare out of the little hole we live in, trying to get a better look at the blue sky above us. People step on other people for a better view but nobody gets to the top, the hole just gets deeper and deeper. You'll get fucking used to it. Tomorrow, no more feeling sorry for yourself." before kicking her in the jaw, knocking her out.
He closed his eyes and let out a deep breath before opening them towards the sky. He looked at the hazy red of the setting sun for a moment before picking Olvia up and bringing her in the house.
When Olvia woke up, it was the middle of the night. She heard dull bangs and got off the bed, feeling her whole body aching. She rubbed her jaw and walked to the window, seeing Galan punching the Seastone Block over and over again.
She sighed and muttered "Do you ever take a break…" touching the glass with her fingertips, seeing the blood all over the block that was facing him. She turned around and frowned at herself, clenching her fist before getting dressed.
She noticed 2 more books on the end table next to the bed and picked them up.
'6 Powers'
'Life Return'
She frowned at them before bringing them with her, wearing tight training attire. A tight white t-shirt, and short red training shorts. She tucked the books in her waistband as she walked out of the house, pulling up her hair with a hair tie in her mouth.
Galan paused and turned around to see Olvia tying up her hair before putting the books down, starting to train on her own. He watched for a few minutes as she did all the exercises with a determined face and bare feet, only having tape around her ankles.
She finished working out around noon as opposed to dusk before attacking Galan directly without any words. He stood there and leaned back, dodging her kicks as she jumped at him, twisting in the air and kicking hard at his head.
Galan caught her delicate foot with ease before slamming her into the ground and throwing her into the Seastone block. She groaned painfully but got up and attacked him again, using her long legs to an advantage.
Galan grabbed her ankle and pulled her to him abruptly, she froze as their faces were inches from each other, staring into his blank eyes for a split second, swearing that all she saw were cold and sad flames.
As she was distracted, Galan said "Never lose focus." before driving his fist into her gut, bending her like a shrimp as she lost her breath, crumpling to the ground as he grabbed her collar.
She threw up and fell unconscious, an inconspicuous pink tinge to her cheeks fading instantly.
Galan cleaned her up, wiping her mouth before sending her back to bed.
A while later
Olvia sat up abruptly, looking around to realize that she was clean and back in bed. She turned to the end table and saw the books back in their place with that familiar dull banging. She snorted with pressed lips and the same determination on her face as she started reading while getting dressed before going out again.
Doing the same thing all over again.
Slowly as time passed, she got stronger and faster. The periods of fighting with Galan were getting longer and longer, slowly and by seconds at a time, but longer nonetheless.
If anything Galan had to admit, she was a fast learner. Olvia never made the same mistake twice. Not one time. Plus, the 6 Powers were really something that required a person to train for a long time to master, however Olvia seemed to have a talent for leg-based combat.
Her long legs were perfect for a kicking fight style. In addition to this, she had a tough character even before her training. Her talent in combat after being taught professionally would even put some Marines to shame.
Even among the CP agents Galan had seen, she was faster and better! Perhaps she never put her talent to use, focusing on someone else's dream and goals instead but her skill in fighting improved leaps and bounds by the day.
This was also one of the reasons Galan started with Observation Haki before anything else. It was much easier to pick up on things with Observation Haki, correcting mistakes was even simpler. Maybe in the long run, she would never compare to monsters like Big Mom but competing with Cipher Pol agents, based on her performance at the moment, Galan was confident that she wouldn't lose.
She was a quick thinker, flexible on her feet, and had an inkling of tactical thought. If she could hone these skills to their apex, she would be one of the most dangerous women on the sea.
He just wondered if Robin shared these same traits or not. He didn't know but he gave an order to his Buzzards to see if they could stimulate this potential in the girl without her realizing it.
It was a tall order for the brutes but they promised to complete it.
As far as they knew, the boss was very concerned with this particular kid. Their job wasn't to ask questions but to follow orders and with the attention the kid got, they took extra care to this particular order.
Half a year passed before Galan was called to Mariejois…
It seemed like all the work had been done and Kong was ready to pass the torch.
