Chapter 20 - Ryker's Fury

"Where are my men!?" the patriarch of the Morlene Family yelled, his entourage gulping down as he did not have the answer his master looking for.

"I sent 15 of my best assassins, ending a bunch of brats should be a simple task!" he yelled again, the only reason he didn't throw anything at the man in front of him was because he didn't want to make a mess.

"Father, give him to me, I'm going to torture him for the humiliation he did to me," the son of the patriarch said, his blood boiling at the mention of the one who nearly crippled him. Oh, how is he going to torture the man, violating the beautiful woman in front of him. That shows everyone to not mess with their family.

"Sir, we found something. But it is not something you would like to see," one of his bodyguards said, entering the room and giving his report.

"Show me then, what could be so bad anyway?" the patriarch jokes. The guard retreated from the room, before pushing a wagon, the smile on the patriarch's face froze. Seeing your best men dismembered and bleeding corpses would do that to you.

"What happened!? What happened?!" the patriarch screeched. He had invested a lot into these assassins, training them to be the loyal elites they were meant to be. To have them sent in pieces is akin to spitting in his face.

"We not sure, master. We found them lying in front of the mansion," the guard explained, having trouble breathing from the powerful aura of a peak 9th Stage Genesis Gathering expert.

"They just have to deal with a bunch of brats. It impossible for them to die in such an easy job," the patriarch calmed down, thinking of what could cause the death of his men.

"Yes, it's impossible for a bunch of children to take down the assassins, my lord, unless," the entourage looking enlightened, his right hand at his chin.

"What do you mean, unless?" wanting to get some answer, he asked his entourage.

"What if there are powerful experts protecting the children? That would be the most likely reason why none of the assassins get out alive," he pointed out, the patriarch mulling it before nodding.

"In that case, there must be a powerful expert behind them, probably someone we couldn't offend. There is also a chance the town lord to protect them, the young man being a part of his plan to cut my influence," the patriarch played with his mustache.

"Then again, why would he use someone outside the town, unless he worried that the one he chose might be my spy? In that case, I should pull some strings, make the town lord realize how futile his effort was," he mumbled to himself.

"Sir! Someone just came and beat up our man! There are no fatalities yet but many were injured!" one of his guards reported, making the already messy situation turn even messier.

"Who was it and how many are there?" the patriarch asked, able to calm himself to prepare for the next threat.

"A single person, my lord. As for his identity, we didn't know, we never met him before," the guard said as he bowed down to the elder.

He had watched the young man utterly beat up the guards, though he didn't kill them despite having the power to do so. The only thing certain is that he seemed hell-bent on getting into the mansion, for some reason.

He watched as the patriarch snarled, the man grabbing his spear. While the patriarch is not much of a fighter, preferring to scheme instead, he is still a top-tier fighter in the town.

"Well, the boy better hope the lord is merciful, if not, he would suffer for a long time,"

Ryker cleared through another wave of guards easily, while they were cultivators, they were still not strong enough to touch him, much less threaten him. His little fight would attract the patriarch, hence the reason he was causing a huge commotion.

"Brat, how dare you cause trouble to the Morlene Family! You better bet for forgiveness or I'm going to make you beg for death!" a mustached man appeared, yelling threats at him.

'Looks like honored guest number one had appeared. What about honored guest number 2?' he thought to himself.

"Father did you-" the son of the Morlene Family nearly did a spit take, before a hideous grin appeared on his face.

"Spoke and he shall appear," Ryker muttered to himself.

"Father! He's the one that did this to me!" the son said, the patriarch turned his head towards him before the same smile appeared on his face.

"Oh, so you're the one that nearly crippled my son. I want to look for you. To think you are the one to show your face here. Brat, get ready to die!" Ryker wanted to yawn but decided to let the man finish first.

As the man charged at him, his cultivation at the peak of Genesis Gathering unleashed, Ryker glanced at him before he released his cultivation.

"Genesis Formation!" the patriarch yelled, not expecting what should be an easy kill is actually an iron plate.

Ryker glanced at him before a powerful pressure pushed him to the ground. He casually walked towards the father and son duo, ignoring their fearful and hateful expression.

"You know, we can avoid all of this if your son gets his punishment," he said out loud, "Or we could avoid this if your son didn't try to make a move on my woman, and later on, tried to attack me,"

The patriarch swore in his mind. To think his son would make trouble with such a monster. If he knew a Genesis Formation expert was behind his son's punishment, he would not get him out.

"I plan to beat you up for freeing your son. That's all. But now, you send your assassins to attack my family, that is something I won't forgive," he glared at the two, his aura pushing them both deeper to the ground.

"Tonight, I'm going to destroy the Morlene Family, once and for all," his words sound like thunder as the patriarch shiver in fear.

"Wait! We can come to an agreement! Name your price!" the patriarch pleaded, begging to be let off.

"Didn't you hear? My price is your family's destruction," seeing how the young man didn't plan to let them off, the patriarch thought of ways to stop this calamity.

"If you do anything to us, the town won't let you off," his words caused Ryker to let out a mocking laugh.

"If they plan to protect you, they would have told you your son had offended a Genesis Formation expert instead of keeping you in the dark," he had thought of why the man would even get his son released, the only way he didn't know tried to scheme against a Genesis Formation expert.

The patriarch looked in despair, the young man's words made sense, as he had been fighting for control over the town with the town lord. Still, he tried to bargain when Ryker grabbed his shoulder, not intending to let him speak any further.

His qi penetrates the man's body, piercing through his veins and Inner Realm, destroying his cultivation. He threw the man into the ground before appearing in front of the son, wanting to do the same thing.

"No! Please! Let me go!" the son screamed in fear as Ryker crippled him too, before throwing him like a trash towards his father.

As he walked past the fleeing guards, he looked and spotted a cowering servant, "Show me where the treasure room is and I won't harm anybody else," he ordered, the servant nodded in fear.

Soon, he reached the treasure room. Looking at the abundance of treasures, from coins and gems to energy stones and energy crystals. He smiled at the wealth in front of him before grabbing a spatial ring and putting all of the treasure inside of it.

He then threw a pouch towards the servant, "Gather everyone, and tell them I'm giving their last payment," the servant looked at the pouch in shock before a stare from Ryker made him run to do what he ordered.

Soon, all of the servants and some guards gathered, Ryker looking at them before giving them a pouch, enough money to last them a decade if they decided to spend it lavishly. After done with that, he decided to make one final stop.
