Chapter 7 - Kaius

-

There was a mountain with three peaks that lay peacefully on blue waters. It was strangely the only island there, it's pasture very green, giving off an ethereal glow.

In the heart of that island, there was an empty space devoid of any grass with spirals carved on its damp soil and a crystal... Jade to be precise, laying in the middle of it all. It shimmered and pulsated as if it was the reason the skies floated.

Close to it a man stared... He had hair that reached his waist, black and silky smooth. It fluttered in the wind. His front bangs covered his expression. His lips were pursed. His eyelashes casting pretty shadows on his cheek bones. He was pale.

After the third wave came crashing on the shores of the mountain, he stood up, walked away from the core and disappeared. It was unknown whether he tore through space, went invisible or just teleported. It was like he was never there.

If Kai had seen him he would have recognized the man. Even though his hair had grown out, the technique he used... His jumping would have been a dead give away. It was his twin brother.

Kaius.

Kaius appeared on the clouds. He stared at the tranquil water beneath his feet, reflecting his lean face as the waters stared back at him. Any normal person will wonder what and how that came to be, but it was there, a floating lake above the lonely island.

Without hesitation he jumped in creating slight ripples on its surface. And appeared directly beneath the water. He breathed in the familiar sent of his home.

Beneath the lake, there was a whole new dimension, spreading as far as the eye could see. Strangely there were no signs of water at all. Only bare hard ground. Long scales and muscular bodies littered it, adding to it's magnificence. They were... Dragons. But Kaius ignored all that and approached his residence.

It was a building carved into a cave by sharp claws. It was made from black stone. It's doors from polished wood. He opened the door and went into his room, searching... Finally, he found it.

Two seashells rested on his palm. A white jade pendant in the other and a... Black card.

He brought out a cushion and placed them inside.

He growled, almost inaudible. Then a dragon with grey scales flew in. It lowered it's head in submission awaiting its master's command.

"For Kai" his master said and disappeared again. His new location unknown.

Meanwhile Kai who was picking a wedding dress with Sia sneezed.

'Those brats... They must be gossiping me' he thought thinking of Ren.

It had been awhile since his guests left. Leon had contacted him saying that they had made arrangements for the wedding, theirs was just to pick their dresses.

He was already done picking his. It was just that Sia was so small that the standard wedding dresses didn't fit her at all. They had no choice but to contact a designer for a costum made one. It was at this moment that Kai felt a premonition. He knew this feeling all too well. In fact, he missed it. As feelings of nostalgia settled in his heart, he moved towards the door and opened it.

No one was there.

But Kai waited. His nose couldn't deceive him. That was his brother's scent. And he didn't wait for long. A tear in the fabric of space appeared, showing the presence of a draconic claw. It's scales was grey, absorbing almost all light that fell on it.

Finally it opened up revealing a white pouch gently laid in the middle. Sia, who followed after Kai was witnessing something that only happened in fairy tales, agape.

'A living dragon!'

She thought those were extinct with only a few hybrids signifying their existence. But alas, she was wrong. She watched as Kai approached the arm and picked up the pouch. As soon as that happened, it disappeared leaving no trace of it's appearance behind. Even the space returned to normal, betraying what her eyes had seen.

She glanced at Kai. He was looking at the pouch like it was his most treasured possession. Slowly, he opened it. Then Sia saw him flash the most beautiful smile she had seen, it was foolish even. From there the smile turned to a chuckle and then an all out laughter. She wondered if he had lost it.

"Kai?" She called.

He turned to her and said "Ohhh!! Can you believe this Sia?! My big brother sent me a wedding gift! Come look at this, come look.

Almost screaming like a girl who just saw her idol, Kai went to Sia. He couldn't believe it. His twin brother Kaius actually approved of his marriage.

Kaius hadn't once contacted him since their dad left. He stayed on his own, raising the dragons. But today was different. He thought he was even hallucinating from missing his brother too much but who cares?! He received a wedding gift!! He broke into more fits of laughter. Sia just looked at him, then looked at the pouch. She saw two little seashells, a jade that looked freaking expensive and a black card.

'What? A black card!?' Now Kai didn't seem that crazy in her eyes but his laughter was a bit too much no?

"Come here Sia, let's see if it fits."

Sia was confused. "What fits?"

Kai paused and looked at her. He sighed.

"Just come here and stop ogling the card already. It's just money. The real deal are this ornaments."

Sia's mind blanked out for a second.

'Just money... The money had no fucking limit!! Just!? Just!!' she thought as she approached him.

Kai carried the seashells and placed one on his ear, making Sia stunned. They didn't look like earrings at all, but they fitted so well. She watched as Kai placed one on her ear too. He then took the jade and placed it on her neck. It felt cool. She glanced at it. It was pretty, she had seen nothing like it.

She raised up her head to look at Kai. Then... She was suddenly kissed. Her eyes widening, she wondered what was happening but was distracted by the freezing sensation on her neck and the burning one on her ear lobe. She glanced at the pendant. It was melting, seeping into the pores of her skin quickly. She guessed the same was happening to her earlobe. The liquid penetrated her muscles, some diffusing while others went deeper and pierced her bones. She wanted to scream. But Kai mouth was over hers. She could only breath heavily as she waited for the process to end.

After a while. He parted his lips from hers breathing heavily. It seemed he went through the same.

"Are you okay?" He asked.

Sia just nodded. She wanted to ask him why he did that but her vision flashed and she fell into a pair of strong arms. She lost consciousness.
