It was too sudden. The people on the table were too shocked to speak. But someone did.
"You didn't tell me you were coming" Lucifer said, a slight smile on his lips.
"If I didn't come is this how you were going to watch in silence as your children insulted my cousin" she said scanning the crowd.
"You are saying it as if you're not one of them. Besides, I knew you would come so I decided to leave it to you" he replied nonchalantly. The two seemed close. How couldn't they be? She was Lucifer's most favored grandchild, Lucian. She was also Lemuel first child but he didn't seem happy by her appearance, none of them did.
"Tch... Hopeless" she said after a while then turned to her uncle, Leon.
"Since my uncle has decided to remain silent on this issue, I will pass my judgement"
"Now let me make myself clear. I want those who are against my cousins wedding out of this hall... No- infact I want everybody out " she said in an emotionless tone, her chin raised.
The people just nodded and started leaving. No one dared to object, except ofcourse they didn't want themselves and their family to see daylight. She wasn't feared for nothing after all.
Now it was remaining only Leon's two brothers, father and Lucian. Sasha was nowhere to be seen, probably making arrangements for the wedding.
Lemuel looked at his daughter and spoke. "It seems you lost weight"
Lucian just ignored him. She didn't owe that man anything. Besides she was here for different reasons.
"So let's get this straight" she started looking at Leon. "Your daughter's wedding is as a result of some mistake?"
Even she was finding it hard to believe. Leon couldn't just give his only child away, not to mention Sarah consented to it too. It was just too funny. There was something missing, a higher stake that made them make the choice.
"Yeah... But he seemed decent. He's handsome too" Leon said, trying to ease the situation, he didn't want to offend this erratic niece of his.
Lucian just looked at him, then she turned to her grandfather.
"We need to talk". The conversation wasn't going anywhere. Besides, it might be that the reason was something that couldn't be mentioned in an audience.
Lucifer nodded and followed her. They both left the room leaving Leon alone with his two brothers. It didn't take long before they too left. It seemed they gave up on the matter.

In a dimly lit room, there was a very luxurious bed capable of fitting five grown men on top marble floors, a lounge one one side of the room and a balcony that granted a beautiful view of outside. Two people walked in. One with a carefree expression on his face and the other with a cold expression on her face. They looked so alike, one would think they were siblings. But they weren't.
Lucifer had ruled the kingdom of demons for eras, but he showed no signs of aging. He even looked younger than some of his descendants, but one look at the man and you could tell he was ancient.
As for Lucian, she was as mysterious as she was deadly. It was no longer news in the kingdom that if she was unhappy with something, her grandfather the king will have to coax her. One would think she was a spoiled descendant, but who could blame her? One situation led to the other and she ended up being an emotionless killer.
The two approached the balcony with steady steps.
Lucifer paused, taking in the view. Then he spoke.
"How have you been?" Although it seemed that Lucian came here on a whim, he knew more than that. She would only come here when she wasn't making any progress in her goals.
"I'm good. It's almost winter, so I decided to say hi. Sia's wedding just happened to coincide with it". She replied looking at the scenery below. "What about you, you aren't someone to just approve of anyone".
'She changed the subject' Lucifer thought under Lucian's gaze. Well if she didn't want to tell him he won't push it.
"It's a long story" he replied as he proceeded to tell her the details.
"All in all, he would be coming tomorrow with Sia and some of his family members. Till then I'm clueless" he said concluding his explanation.
Lucifer remained quiet, a thoughtful expression on her face. For her grandpa to have no info on this man or his family despite his influence was weird. They had to be careful, weird occurrences have been happening lately.
"And he is interested in the amulets?" She asked.
"Yeah, it seems so. He said we either give him the amulets or Sia. And Leon, in a state of panic gave him Sia. Let's just pray that we didn't make a bad bet this time, he's strong"
Sia nodded "What's his name anyway?"
"Kai, just Kai."
"Well... It doesn't sound bad, but... Whose name will Sia bear if he's just Kai?"
"I don't know Lucian, I don't know. Let's see how things unfold tomorrow and pray it ends up being a happy wedding that my wife wants"
Lucian's gaze flickered at the mention of her grandma then she spoke.
"Mmm, let's see"
And both of them went back to looking at the scenery again, enjoying the silence.
