"OKAY, STOP IT. KEEP TELLING ME WHAT HAPPENED. DON'T AVOID IT. Spill everything to me!" Then he came back to my bed, still disgusted. "What? You preferred some other kind of blood? Cow is harmful," and disgusting indeed. He stared at me as if I was crazy, so, I got up, filled a bowel with my strawberries and covered them with condensed milk, then I gave it to him. "Eat it, cry baby. It'll make the taste of the blood disappear."
With pouty lips, he took it. "Okay, I'll be honest with you because I want to trust, okay? And for that you have to trust me. So, don't freak out, please."
Now I'm getting anxious. "I'll try."
Sigh. "Seven minutes after you left, Bryant came to us with tons of papers in hand. He asked if you had gotten into the club already, and everyone stared at him confused, except for me. Then he took all of us, including me, to the Debate Club meeting room, leaving someone taking care of the stand, and showed the papers to us. I think those were the papers of your grades you told you left on the ground earlier."
"I did. But I didn't expect him to take them."
"He did. Then he explained to us that he talked to the principal to know more about you, and she told him that you've been manipulating your grades since you were 12 years old when you first came in here all of those years ago. And I told them what you told me, and that you didn't plan on it, you just wanted to get 6 and nothing but that. That, like me, you've been keeping your intelligence and strength from everyone."
I took a deep breath, closing my fists, "Why did she told that asshole? That's a personal problem. She can't go around telling everyone that asks about it, damn it. It feels invasive."
"Brandon got really angry and wanted to come at you again, but Dante stopped him. Then… well…"
"What happened, Gabriel?"
He seemed like he was struggling to find a way to tell me, "He asked if Brandon heard when you told him to release you, and he said no. Brandon said that his mind went blank and that when he realized, you were already on the ground grinning at him."
Shit. This Dante noticed?
"Before continuing it, I want to know, Bella. And please, be honest with me. Can you manipulate vampires' minds? Did you made him release you with your words? Did you command him to do it?" Gabe seemed exasperated. "Are you really able to do that, or is Dante mistaken?"
I drank the rest of my drink and looked at him, "Yes. I can do that," he gasped. "I never saw anyone being able to do the same, so I kept quiet not to cause a fuss. But indeed, I have that ability."
"Fuck!" He leaned forward on his knees. "There's only one precedent who possessed such a power in the history of the vampires who attended here and D'Angelo, Bella."
Blinking, I tilted my head, "Oh, really? Who was it? I've really never heard of it," I'm lying, but I need to. It's not like I can tell him I got it from my dad. "Where is he?"
"It was two generations before us, and he was an extremely powerful vampire. He was so powerful that he got the attention of two of the Ministers, and their help in whatever he needed. He was one of the two biggest prodigies the school has seen in his time. Madoc Tristan Vaughn," is that my dad's true name? "He had it all. And he even had the Dracula nickname. Was the star of the school in all of his years here. However," he clenched his jaw, "when he was in D'Angelo, Madoc fell in love with Bianca Chloe Coslett, and they ran away together."
Damn my parents have such beautiful names and they named me Amethyst-Emerald? Are you serious? Even Bella Amethyst Howell, or Isabella Emerald Howell would have been better than this. I feel sad for myself. "Who was Bianca?"
"She was from his grade, and the only one on Madoc's level of power. Their rivalry was famous here and in D'Angelo. No one ever expected them to fall for each other," that's because they are dumb. Enemies-to-lovers is such a predictable route. "Bianca was known as the Obsidian Crow, she was the first archangel in history to be born with black-pitch feather-wings. Like the feathers of a crow. And she was extremely powerful as well. So much that when they used to spare with each other, they destroyed lots of places in here."
Yeah, I can totally see them doing that. They always had a bitter-sweet relationship, teasing and loving each other. It was beautiful to see, but sad that they had to leave all behind to be together and have me.
"Cool story, but what does that has to do with me?"
"Bella, those two were geniuses, two of the greatest prodigies to ever come here. And you happen to be one too. You don't know who your parents are, but you happen to be a vampire who possess the same unique ability, Madoc had," damn it, he's too smart for his own good. "And no one ever saw them again. They could be anywhere. Until now the Ministry is after them, just make sure they haven't had any children together."
With my eyebrows raised, I scoffed, "Or maybe, I'm one of a kind. Beside, I don't have wings, Gabriel. If I was their children, I would have my mother's wings, wouldn't I? And archangels can't hid theirs like you demons can. Do you see any wings on my back?" I turned around.
"I know, but… what if he's your father?"
"You think he banged another vampire and had me? If that was the case, it would take the Ministry suspicions of them and they wouldn't need to hide. But they are still hiding. So, it doesn't make sense, Gabriel. And my father's name is Vincenzo, not Madoc. I'm sure of this."
He seemed distraught, "I… I'm sorry I cornered you like this. I was just scared that you could be a hybrid," and I am, but a tetrahybrid. "The Ministry would come at you like birds of prey. I don't want that. I know we just met today and all, but I feel a connection, and you are my first friend."
Rolling my eyes, feeling more at ease that he isn't suspicious anymore, I hugged him. "It's okay. But be smart ease, I'm not a hybrid," I'm a tetrahybrid. "You don't have to worry."
"You will have to deal with their suspicions now, though. When they connected the dots, plus the fact that Brandon said you were an orphan, and how you purposely manipulated your grades to lay low, all of them will be extra careful with you. Trying to see if you are a hybrid or not. Zara will probably try to see if you have wings, even though, again, archangels can't hide theirs. And I think Brandon is scared of you manipulating him again, after all, everyone would me scared if they knew there's a slight possibility of you being Madoc's daughter."
I smiled amused, "Were people scared of him?"
"Yes. They were both frightened and in love with him, according to what my parents told me. He was a vampire like no other, and many people thought that one day he would become the Minister of Mischief with such a power. The same goes for Bianca, who people thought she could become the Minister of the Sky one day," I feel proud of my parents.
To think I would finally get to know some things about them. Today is really being an awesome day for me.
"The most interesting thing is that, like you, they were also both orphans," I froze for a second.
Makes sense. They were both hybrids, no one could know who their parents actually were. "Nice. Studying with them at that time must have been so cool. Two forces of the nature fighting like that. Sounds amazing to me. So, let's stop talking about hybrids, and those runways. Tell something. Who is the strongest one out of the eleven, and how I should be wary of them?"
