"You...w…what?" Ella's best friend Hazel asked as her eyes widened in excitement.
"It was just a kiss, Hazel. There were no emotions involved." Ella explained to her friend again.
"Okay, understood. Now, tell me more, what happened after that?"
"He proposed asking for my hand in marriage." Hazel who was so excited immediately turned serious. What had her cute innocent bestie gotten herself into? She probed further until Ella told her the whole story.
"You did the right thing, girl. Next time you meet him, send him my regards." Hazel said as she threw a punch at the imaginary president in the air making both the girls chuckle. Soon their lunch break was over and they had to get back to work. Hazel was working in the hospitality department that was in charge of training air hostesses while Ella was working in the research and development department.
"Hey Ella." Ella was caught off guard as she was scoped into a big hug from behind. She turned and her face beamed with happiness the moment the saw who it was.
"Kay, what are you doing here." Ella asked her cousin and childhood friend.
"I will tell you all about it later after work if you are free." Kay replied as he placed his big palm on top of her head and raffled her hair.
"Of course." Ella replied enthusiastically as she watched him leave. She had missed him so much after he left and went abroad ten years ago when she was just twelve. She was glad he was back.
Meanwhile....
Dark clouds were looming over a certain president's head as he watched the affectionate display between his future 'wife' and another man from a distance. That man touched her head and her hair and even hugged her and the most unsettling thing was the way her eyes gleamed with happiness as she looked at this man.
'Was she already in a relationship.' He thought as he looked at the man that had just hugged Ella.
"Fellis" he called out to his secretary who come shortly after and stood beside him.
"Who is that man?" he asked as he gestured at Kay. Fellis followed his line of sight.
"That's Skyler Turner. He is a new employee. He joined the company three days back." She gave him a detailed answer as she wondered why he had asked. He was recently showing more interest in his employees.
"Make him work overtime this week." He said as he watched Ella. She was his future wife and not another man's.
"Okay, sir." Fellis replied as she left to execute her boss' wish. Being an alien come with advantages like acute hearing, the ability to listen to people's thoughts, hypnotizing and a few others. He had clearly eavesdropped their conversation hence easily altering their plans. He went back to his work feeling quite good after his little sabotaging scheme. It was soon six as he drove back to his villa. The house had a magnificent view surrounded by tall green trees with equally stunning gardens around the three floor mansion. There was a beautiful swan fountain in front of the house that caught the last final specks of light from the setting sun. It was just so elegant and fit for royalty. He pushed open the large double doors and entered the house. He was greeted by a familiar presence. A fluffy ginger brown cat rubbed its fur against his leg as though welcoming him home.
"Meow" the cat meowed as it ran off prompting him to follow it. It stopped in the living room revealing the man who was seated leisurely in one of the sofas.
"You are here." Diablo said to his companion. It was five minutes to seven, the agreed time for their meeting.
"So tell me, what was so urgent that you called me here." Davos asked as he sipped on his fruit juice.
"I plan on getting married." Diablo said to his friend. Davos' eyes nearly popped out of his sockets as he choked on his drink. That was indeed urgent. This rather emotionless and calculative friend of his was planning on getting married. Surely there was a hidden agenda behind all this.
"And who is this lucky lady?" Davos asked after he had composed himself. He already had a clue but he asked anyway.
"Ella Gonzalez." Diablo replied.
"Okay, so how are you going to approach her." Davos asked as he decided to support his friend after seeing his possible interest in her the other night.
"I already did that."
"How exactly?" Davos asked as his head started to spin in anticipation at how badly his friend had screwed up this time. He listened to his friend's side of the story and he swore he might have died and resurrected at some parts of the story.
"…and she rejected me." Diablo completed his narration.
"You did all that and you thought she could accept you. No sane woman could." Davos frankly told his friend. Diablo blinked innocently, the poor guy thought he did nothing wrong.
"What did I do wrong?" he asked.
'You did everything wrong!!!' Davos sighed hopelessly as he looked at the man before him.
"Why were you offering her a marriage contract in the first place?" he asked.
"It's my mother, she is still playing match maker and I wanted to surprise her with a newlywed bride." Diablo replied. So this is why he was getting married, not for love but to get his mother off his neck, interesting. This friend of his never ceased to amuse him.
"In three days, there is going to be a ball at hellion and I was planning to present Ella as my wife. Will you come too?"
"Of course, I will be there." Davos readily agreed because he missed his home and family since he agreed to come to earth with his friend. But now they had an impending problem.
"How are you going to get Ella to marry you?" Davos asked curiously.
"I don't know how but I am going to get her to marry me within these two days." Diablo said.
"You could give her flowers." Davos suggested but one look at his friend made him doubt he could ever do that.
