Chapter 10 - The Gauntlet

Incredibly surprised by this Hollow attempted to analyze the gauntlet again and again. He never got any different information.

Seeing the warning, Hollow theorized that this item might have significant negative side effects. However it also probably has some positive effects as well. Thinking back to what the guide said, taking this risk probably would have rewards.

[Yes]

[Binding Item]

As Hollow read the last notification, he collapsed screaming in pain. The gauntlet seared itself onto his flesh. It burned away at his skin eating into his flesh. It was sunk into his skin in a seamless fashion and covered his right hand from its wrist to his elbow.

When the pain finally ended Hollow received multiple notifications. Upon attempting to analyze the backend wrist guard he received different information.

[Congratulations on binding the unknown gauntlet. Gauntlet partially unsealed]

Quite confused and not understanding what runes were, Hollow worried that he might have made a big mistake. Rationalizing it, Hollow decided that trading 10 mana and intelligence was quite worth the 5% all-stat increase, especially due to his bloating of those two stats. Even if he ignored the runes, this acquisition was probably still advantageous.

Satisfied with the stat change. Hollow began to experiment with runes. He first attempted to cast a rune of strength in the air to no effect and a notification popped up. Trying different runes, all of them came up with the same notification.

[Rune requires material to enhance]

Concerned about them breaking his nice sword. Hollow attempted to use the rune of power on a common iron sword. This again gave a different notification.

[Rune requires better material to enhance]

Similarly, it did not matter what material was used, there was no change to the notification. Deciding to take a risk, void attempted to use the rune of strength on his [Sword(uncommon)]. The change in notification was immediate as it binged multiple times.

[Sword(uncommon) enhanced by rune of strength Sword(uncommon)(enhanced).]

Incredibly satisfied with the new titles, Hollow was slightly surprised to see that he was not the first person to craft an item. Seeing the potential power of his (semi-epic) title Hollow became interested in the new crafter's abilities. The new title that he got made him realize that runes might be much more powerful than what he was giving them credit for. Hollow was starting to look forward to this new world with hope. Not just hope for himself, but also for humanity. That was his mistake a mistake that would remind him that the only thing that had any value was one's own strength.
