He is satisfied with his class and is now hopeful about the possibility of killing the 3 bosses. Hollow ran towards the meadow. By the time he finally arrived, the sun was rising on the final day. The Event would begin at midday today.
When he disappointed him, he saw very few levels 8's and no nines. Everyone was relatively low leveled. He had hoped that the people would be reasonably helpful, it seemed he would have to do it all himself.
As he approached the camp it became more and more clear that there were divisions between the members.
Looking around Hollow was surprised to see many people wearing a red signet with a dark purple flame in its center.
Hollow wandered around unsure of what to do when people moved quickly toward an area. Hollow decided to follow the crowd. As he walked through the area he saw signs of civilization starting to sprout up. There were small markets selling gear and tools. Void had largely been eating the small packet of crackers that he started with, however, that was quite infilling. People had started selling grilled monster meat and other interesting foods.
It was starting to look like a community. A healthy thriving civilization. It started looking more like Earth. Hollow question if that actually was a good thing. The old world was built on a foundation of humanity's superiority. We had no natural predators on Earth, Hollow was unsure if that actually was true anymore. Since power meant everything now, Hollow wondered how that would affect society and our governmental systems.
Shaking his head, Hollow wandered into a quorum full of people. It was clearly split in two, the right said containing a solitary eloquent throne. On the left side, there was a series of 3 chairs all quite similar.
As people filled into the left seats Hollow saw many unfamiliar yet high leveled people.
[Superior insight digs deeper. You can now see the class of the inspected person]
[Charlotte's level 10: Class Magic ranger(semi-epic)Health: 162]
[David level 10: Class Magic Swordsman(unique)Health: 282]
[Gregory level 10: Class Stalwart(semi-epic) Health: 850]
They appeared to be waiting for the person on the right. Finally, a face that Hollow recognized.
[Adrian level 10: Pyromancer(inferior epic) Health: 144]
As murmurs erupted, Gregory yelled, "Order, Order. We have gathered here today to prepare for the beginning of the Boss Event. We have gathered some information and believe that the bosses will be level 25." The crowd exploded in rumors. Everyone was incredibly concerned, none was anywhere close to that level. Smiling happily, Hollow thought that it appeared that Stella had delivered his message.
"What about Hollow?" Someone shouted. That was then followed by a chorus of cries, some blaming him others pleading.
Hollow waited, interested in seeing what people thought of him. "Why do we need him? I'm stronger than him." Adrian muttered increasingly annoyed by his lack of recognition.
"We don't know where he is." David responded, "He has interacted with very few people and is believed to hunt alone". This information made the crowd explode. People started to worry that they might be abandoned.
"I'm here to help," Hollow muttered, "Seemed like you guys would really need it" He then allowed people to see his part of his information.
[Hollow Health 1080/????]
The crowd exploded. People had never seen a health stat that high. Even Gregory, which was rumored to have a vitality-centric class, had less. Adrian was completely shocked. Somehow Hollow had gotten ahead of him. Gregory was also quite shocked at seeing someone with higher health than him. However, what concerned him more was his capability to kill monsters indicating that he was likely not vitality centered.
"We should talk," Hollow told the 5 in the stands. As they walked off together people started to mutter about Hollow and the rumors that surrounded him. He was rumored to be a ruthless person. People remembered seeing him go running into the forest on the first day. They remembered his brutality and strength.
With the 6 of them together Hollow was going to start talking when he was interrupted by Adrian, "Ok, talk what do you need to tell us". He was quite annoyed that Hollow was once again in the spotlight.
"Well, we are screwed" Hollow started, "As you clearly know, at level 10 we receive a class, I believe that monsters receive an equivalent stat boost. I also have information stating that at level 15 we and the monsters will receive a significant racial evolution."
Gregory inhaled, realizing what I meant, he asked "We are screwed aren't we".
"Probably," Hollow responded, "they are going to have stat totals in the high thousands. If you want to kill them it is going to be very costly"
Gregory then took a deep breath and asked, "Ok, how do you suggest we protect the people? Nearly half of our 500 people refuse to do so. "
Hollow contemplated the question, "I don't know how to tell you this" He then shook his head, "We can't protect them" David immediately erupted but Hollow continued talking, "We are not the apex species on this planet. There really isn't much room for the weak. We just aren't strong enough to practically shield others."
"What exactly are you suggesting?" Charlotte warned while holding David back, "You are treading on dangerous ground!"
"This world is trying to kill us." Hollow refuted, "Have any of you seen a level 1 monster? I haven't. This indicates that people who cannot rise above their level have no place here. Do you think this is going to stop?" Hollow sighed, "What I mean is that we are not strong enough to protect people who do not fight. This world is only for the strong."
"What makes you think that we aren't strong enough to do so?" Adrian asked, "I'm not even sure you're the strongest anymore. I'm much stronger than before."
"I still am the strongest person here. Your inferior epic class isn't going to be the difference maker." Hollow muttered and then walked off, "Take my advice, or don't I don't really care. See you in a few hours"
