At the palace, the King and Prince were in the middle of a heated argument.
"Father, please"
"No. I will not allow this"
"Father, please allow me go..., I am no longer a kid. I am a man, heir to the throne and would succeed you one day. How am I to rule over the people when i have no knowledge of how they live?"
"everything will come to you naturally when the time comes. It's not safe for you to go out there"
"please Father, the royal guards will accompany me and I will be safe"
"no, you cannot step out of this palace, it is far too dangerous..."
"I promise you I will return before nightfall, is that enough to put your mind at ease?"
"Your Majesty, the Prince only wishes to take a walk around the Town, please allow him go" The King's mother turned to the king with a wide smile on her face
"but Mother, you know how dangerous it could get if information is leaked about him going to the Town..." the king really did not want to take chances
"he will be safe, we have the Royal guards to make sure of that"
"thank you Grandmother, i know you love me the most"
"hahaha of course" the Grand Queen gave a hearty laugh.
She was one person who would give in to her grandson no matter his request.
There was one time the Prince had cried to her to get him a special kind of sweet candy he had seen in a book. He had been young and inexperienced. He wished to have the candy so much that he refused his food and medications and fell sick. The Grand Queen had immediately ordered the maids to search far and wide for this delicacy that seemed to only exist in books. After a long and fruitless search, she had invited one of the top chefs in the Kingdom to re-create the dish and make it ninety percent identical to what the Prince wanted.
Another time, he had whined to her about how his teacher scolded him for missing his study lessons. He had always preferred archery classes; but it was customary that he learnt those 'boring books'. After he reported the teacher to his grandmother, she had summoned the man in question and had given a severe warning about how he would be punished if he ever scolded her grandson again.
Everyone silently labelled the Prince a 'spoilt brat' and she couldn't care less. He could be considered her Achilles heel.
