"Master, the kid is awake"
"then let us go to see him..."
A bamboo mat lay neatly in the corner of the room. A young lad whose eyes still seem dizzy from a long sleep tries to get up.
"don't get up child, you need more rest"
"father, who is he?" a childish but cold voice asks
"he... is a gem I found amongst rubbles. Hahaha... Boy, you told me your name is Su?"
The man recalled the hesitancy when he asked him of his name at the market square the previous day. He wondered the reason for it. Had the kid been too tired to remember his name, or, perhaps it was because he had been with some of his warriors yesterday and the kid had been scared to talk in the presence of men with swords?
He stared intensely at him; as if to decipher any lie.
He was quick to answer this time though, shattering any doubt the man might have had.
"yes my Lord, my name is Su"
"and you do not know of your parents?"
"they died... I am am orphan"
"welcome to the Lu Academy then. When you get enough rest, come to find me"
He then proceeded to talk with the physician who kept emphasizing on how strong the boy's immune system was.
"though he had no physical injury apart from minor bruises when i examined him, he might need a bit more time to recover before he can do strenuous work"
"hahaha... what strenuous work can he do here?, don't you worry old man, he will be well taken care of"
"Of course my Lord. I shall take my leave now"
"Alright" he waved his hands
"father, will he be the new trainee?"
"yes. He will be like your brother, you both will train together".
" I am so happy I now have a brother. Father, you promised to teach me those moves when i have someone to practice them with. Now I have someone, you won't go back on your promise right?"
Lu Kang happened to be the only child of Master Lu. For as long as anyone could remember, there have been no presence of a woman in either of the men's life. Meeting a new kid he was just about two years older than had made him really excited. His father had not really been keen on training kids. The last kid that they got happened to be a minister's child that had wandered away from home. About four days after the boy came to the Academy, the Minister had found him out and eventually accused Master Lu of kidnapping. Ever since this incident, Master Lu had always been careful about bringing kids into the Academy. Therefore, all the trainees at Lu Academy right now were older than Lu Kang by at least 5 years.
