If I screamed, I don't remember it.
I remember turning on my heel, and running, my body moving forward, and going through the twists and turns of the halls. Each time I looked back, the sluagh seemed only steps away from me.
My heart pounded in my ears, and I tried so hard to keep my focus and my cool, the creature's steps getting louder and louder.
Why was it so damn fast? The thing seemed to know the steps I was going to take before I took them.
I felt cramps attack my calves and I realized I couldn't run forever. Instead of heading to my room, I ducked into Caleb's closing the door, and locking it. Caleb hadn't even flinched, too lost in his sleep.
Controlling my breathing, I got on my hands and knees, and knelt down, trying to see if the thing had past me or not.
