Chapter 4 - High Heaven

After saying that, she slammed the cabin door

And not long after, the helmet on Wilder's head lit up with blue lights.

"what the….." But before he could say anything, his eyes were forced shut.

He couldn't control it.

It felt like something in his head had forced his eyelids to close.

Suddenly Wilder felt like he was having an out-of-body experience as it seemed like he was trapped floating in deep space.

*Welcome User ID Wilder.

A bunch of words appeared before Wilder.

Suddenly, a cutscene appeared before Wilder like a movie, as a voice started speaking.

*A thousand years ago mankind was plunged into a brutal war that saw the death of millions either from sickness and disease or from the nuclear fallout that followed, still mankind found a way to survive together building a fresh society, but from the embers of the war creatures of considerable power rose from the depths of the earth and sea, they proclaimed themselves the original owners of the planet and commanded that mankind take the role of slaves, and so it was for a time But eventually, rebellion reared its head and gave birth to the human king, he and a few others saved mankind from the enemies, they built safe havens for mankind and created a way for mankind to become stronger through the game, High Heavens

This is high heaven.

/

Wilder frowned when he heard that, wars amongst humans were normal, and back when he was on earth, he had always had the feeling that nuclear weapons would be the way mankind would untimely destroy itself. Apparently, he was half right because mankind still found a way to survive.

But now it seemed like the planet had a bone to pick with humans, and who could blame it?, Even when Wilder was still on earth humans were already destroying the earth with pollution and the whole climate change thing, It wasn't a surprise that the planet brought monsters from its core to stop the humans from recovering their power.

It had probably had enough

Wilder was in a state of deep thought about all that was happening.

When

A voice resounded, and not even a second later, the dark space around him started tearing up, revealing a forest landscape.

Wilder looked around for a few minutes, feeling the leaves and grasses and taking huge breaths of fresh air.

He had lived in the twenty-first century, so he understood what virtual reality was, but this was something different.

"It feels so real," Wilder lamented as he observed himself; he had a leather armor vest on and a short sword hanging from his waist.

"a 100% immersion….." He said in his mind he couldn't believe it.

But then again, it was a thousand years later, so it made sense to an extent. Mankind would always innovate, no matter how much strife they were going through, they always found a way forward.

"Pull up the control panel," Wilder said.

But he received no response.

"Show me the panel," he said once more, but was still met with silence.

"System, how do I access the control panel?" Wilder asked

The system was a part of heaven's will, so it naturally knew a lot, albeit there was little it could actually tell Wilder.

"Blop"

All of a sudden, a panel appeared before Wilder.

"Oh," Wilder stretched his hand and clicked on the forum page.

That was where he knew to get the best information.

The giant girl from earlier had said something about becoming a warrior, which once again confused Wilder, so that was the first thing he checked out.

After a few minutes of searching through the field, Wilder finally came to a halt.

All the information was too much for him, so he would have the system scan through it while he took a break.

"Warrior rank….." Wilder had been able to get some information at the very least.

It seemed like whoever was in this body had made it to the warrior rank in the game but fell back into this current level after being killed by some players.

The levels he found out about were

Common: level 1 to level 5

Warrior: levels 1 to 6

Renowned: level 1 to level 7

Apparently, it would get harder the higher the level one got, and the reparations for dying in game are not only you losing a few levels but it would also cause physical injuries that were hard to recover from.

And that was exactly what happened here. He was surrounded by some unknown players and beaten to death, losing more than 4 levels.

Though there was a solution, playing the game helped improve one's physical health and strengthen it. That was the reason he was here: to farm his levels back so he could heal up quickly.

"Boar graveyard" Wilder pulled up the map on the panel as he read out his current location.

He then started walking forward with a bit of caution.

Another death would probably cost him his life.

,,,,,,,

"Hhhrrr"

Wilder squatted beside a big mole hill as he observed the creatures in front of him.

They looked exactly like something that came out of a game, but for some reason, Wilder felt a bit of familiarity when he looked at them.

"Maybe it's the owner of this body's memories?" Wilder thought to himself as he continued observing.

The boar-like creatures had a hue of red fur around their bodies and razor-sharp tusks. Even from this distance, Wilder could imagine how painful it would be to be stabbed by those creatures.

With his back against the mole hill, Wilder pulled out his panel once more.

Wilder couldn't help but facepalm when he saw the displayed name.

"What an idiot," he said, as he hurriedly changed the display name.

"No wonder you got beaten to death." Wilder lamented on how stupid the person who use to be in this body was.

The human king was revered by all, calling himself the father of the human king was the same as demanding a beating.

On the forum he read that the display name and the class could be changed as long as you were in the commoner rank.

So he did just that, but he left the swordman class, though he was an expert at using several other weapons.

"That's better," Wilder said.

As the new display name appeared

*User ID: Wilder

Wilder smiled seeing the application to change his display name go through.

But before he could internalize it

"Grrrr" all of a sudden, the sound of a boar could be heard from the distance.

Wilder hurriedly closed the panel and looked in front of him.

It was one of the red boars.

"Shit" wilder said while pulling out the short sword on his hip.

Immediately After wilder did that the red boar charged at him

Seeing the speed at which the red boar was coming towards him Wilder decided to jump to the side, he didn't want to go head-on with it.-

"Boom"

The Red Boar ran into a molehill and became stuck.

Then try to pull itself out of a molehill, but before it could -

"Flashing sword," Wilder stabbed it in the neck.

He was no beginner when it came to battle; he knew that every moment counted in the heat of battle.

Plus, this skill was from when he was Tagged warrior rank so he assumed that it was quite powerful.

*Absorbing source

The system announced as a white glowing orb flew into Wilder's body.

Suddenly he felt refreshed.

Source + 2

Commoner level 4 (22/100 source)

/

This was the metric used to evaluate one's level in the game; the more sources one could get, the higher their level would be.

"Oh," said Wilder, looking at his source points with some dismay.

"Why the hell is it so little?" Wilder thought in his mind.

At this rate, he would need to kill 40 plus boars before he could get to commoner level 5, much less warrior rank. This was going to be hard.

"No time to waste then," Wilder said to himself as he prepared to continue killing.

He would have thought of going for bigger monsters, but he couldn't afford getting killed again; it might as well lead to his death In real life

And so Wilder snuck behind the next boar, and slowly he started racking up sources.

But the more he killed, the fewer they became, and after killing about 15, the area was basically cleared.

A look of disappointment appeared on his face these boars were not nearly enough for him level up to commoner level 5

But he had no choice but to wait and see if they would respawn so he went to a tree at the edge of the boar graveyard.

"oh?" Upon getting there Wilder could see that down the hill there were more boars.

This made Wilder feel relieved.

He then proceeded to go down the hill.

He couldn't logout as he knew the girl from before would have his head. All he could do now was try to get to commoner level 5 so he could find better monsters that would drop more source points.

Not long after he got to his destination, he noticed that there were several more boars down here than he had previously observed from ontop the hill.

"One more go," Wilder said to himself as he started sneaking up behind a boar.

This place looked quite different from where he had just come from. On top of the hill, there was a cool and breezy atmosphere, but here the breeze was completely absent.

In fact, the place was a bit hot.

Wilder couldn't help but marvel at how the game developers were able to achieve so many awesome effects.

Wilder slowly started farming all the boars; it was actually quite easy for him as he had years of experience sneaking up on people when they least expected it.

After a while, Wilder had cleared 15 boars.

"Just a little bit off," Wilder said, but before he could say something else,

*Announcement : You have cleared the boar graveyard and have incurred the wrath of the boar king.

/

"Hmm" heavy breathing could soon be heard from a cave by the side of the hill as a pair of red eyes appeared.

"What the?….." Wilder looked straight ahead as a monster boar that was at least 4 times wilder's size walked out of the cave.

It was as red as the other boars, but with a floating red light on its head it huffs were also abnormal in color, from the distance it stared down Wilder with its red eyes

A chill went down wilders spine when he saw this creature

he felt like an ant in front of this creature as it was very tall
