Chereads / Tale of the Dreamer / Chapter 7 - 7

Chapter 7 - 7

After a challenging first day of high school, which included my awakening, I finally arrived home. Dr. Wilson had escorted me back to my group, where I met with my now awakened friends, Julius, Leela, and Adelina.

Although they appeared pale and absent-minded, they assured me they were okay. Given the traumatic experience we had just been through, we didn't get to talk much. However, I was the only one in the mood and capable of conversing.

Soon after, the school took us straight home. Everyone was quiet along the way which was quite unsettling for me. My parents and sister were waiting for me with our cat, who rubbed his head against my leg in an effort to comfort me. My mom asked how I was feeling and if everything went alright, to which I responded positively, though they still looked worried.

After a brief period of fussing, my parents let me go to my room. Lying on my bed, I contemplated testing my newfound powers in a remote location but ultimately decided against it. I was too tired, and I didn't know of any suitable places to do so.

I woke up early, unable to sleep in my excitement over my newly awakened metapowers. I was determined to find a suitable remote location to test my abilities.

Since it was a free day for students, I didn't need to worry about missing classes. After dropping my sister off at the metro station, I planned to experiment with my powers. I had already prepared myself by dressing up nicely the night before.

As I went downstairs, I saw my parents and sister sitting in the living room, deep in conversation. They looked up as I approached them, scanning me with their eyes.

"Are you feeling okay?" my mother asked with a concerned tone.

I nodded and smiled at them. "Can't you see the future psychlord? What could happen to me?"

"Oh, I forgot to tell you yesterday," I continued, "but the researchers at the laboratory said that I have a perfect soul and they want me for further testing."

My family looked stunned at this revelation.

"What? You have a perfect soul?" my father exclaimed, clearly happy and surprised.

"Yes, and they also said that I have telekinetic powers equal to a level 2 psychic," I replied, feeling felicitous making my parents happy.

"Good, good. Today is truly a successful day for our family," my father said, laughing, with my mother and sister nodding in agreement.

"Is there any other good news?" I asked.

"Yes, I received a full scholarship to the University of Metaphysical Sciences and Psychic Studies, along with other benefits," my sister chimed in, grinning from ear to ear.

"Nicely done, congratulations," I said, feeling proud of my sister's achievement.

"Anyways, let's have brunch before we drop her off at the metro station," my mother suggested, looking very happy.

I felt at peace seeing my family content and happy.

After dropping off my sister at the metro station, I bid her farewell and wished her luck, feeling a mixture of encouragement and sadness at her departure. My parents left for work, while I headed home. My mother had transferred some money for lunch and snacks, as they would be arriving late today. Perfect for me, as I was planning to test my powers.

Instead of going home, I went to the location I had chosen for testing my powers the night before. It was a dilapidated factory on the outskirts of Sector 11, which was not far from my house, and I took an automated taxi to reach it quickly. I got off the taxi about a kilometer away from the location and walked the rest of the way to the factory.

As I entered the factory, I searched for a suitable place to test my powers. I had discovered last night that I could use my telekinesis as a radar, an intrinsic property of my telekinetic abilities that allowed me to sense things I wanted to influence. With the range of my telekinetic power, I was able to scan the entire factory, which had four main rooms where mass-production work was done and other rooms for workers, such as bathrooms.

I found one of the four main rooms where there was enough space for me to use my powers comfortably. The room contained machines and a long conveyor belt.

My goal for today was to try flying using telekinesis, which I had been thinking about nonstop since the night before. I used my telekinesis to cover my body and lifted myself gently. Gradually increasing the intensity of my telekinetic power, I lifted my body until I was able to fly. It took me a few minutes to maintain my balance and speed, but I eventually overcame these challenges with practice.

I continued to practice flying, feeling exhilarated by the experience of flying without any technological means. However, the pressure of telekinesis on my body decreased the enjoyment of it. Nonetheless, I felt that with more practice and perhaps improvements to my body, I could eventually overcome this.

I collided with the wall headfirst as I was trying to fly fast like a jet. Fortunately, I did not get hurt as the barrier around my body protected me. I will definitely improve the barrier application of telekinesis later, it is very useful.

Leaving the dent in the wall behind, I continued to fly around the factory like a deranged ghost. I stopped flying and went to explore the other rooms, still maintaining the barrier around my body and strengthening it as much as possible. I didn't want any accidents to happen as I planned to cause some damage.

Jumping high in the air, I released my telekinetic power from my feet and punched one of the large machines with the same principle as before. It only caused a small dent, but I knew this technique would be very deadly for other living beings as it was pervasive. I continued to unleash my powers upon this poor room until everything was reduced to small pieces of rubble except for the conveyor belt, which I left for next time.

Thinking of making most of this rubble, for my accuracy practice, I lifted each of the small bits of rubble and collided them with each other, motioning with my hands as I did so. I didn't need to use my hands but it added to the fun.

Feeling tired. I decided to return home. I had been practicing my powers for almost two hours now. The metamorphene in my system was depleted half an hour in my practice session, since then my spirit was consumed. I arrived home at 3 pm, and there was no one in the house except for our cat, who was sleeping on the sofa.

I went to my room on the second floor and showered for an hour.

As I lied on bed after a long refreshing shower, I planned to contact the researchers for further tests. After taking a nap, I decided, shutting my eyes.
