Chapter 3 - Chapter 3 - Jogging through memory land

Narcia flinched a bit at his words. She did not like the way he was speaking to her. A low growl escaped her. She was about to speak her mind when she noticed a girl approaching.

"Excuse me, are you two paired?" She asked shyly.

"No."

"Yes!"

They both looked at each other, anger threatening to burn the other alive if looks could kill.

"Who the hell do you think you are, Narcia? I am not your partner." He said angrily, causing Narcia to growl again, her wolf begging her to be nice to their mate.

"Listen, you little... Ugh, he is taken, go bother some other guy!" She yelled at the girl who nodded and ran off, causing Liam to grab Narcia's wrist in anger, pulling her close to him.

"What the hell is your problem!? As I recall, you used to tell me I was but a waste of a life! Why are you bothering me further?" Liam huffed angrily in her face, her cheeks reddening at their proximity. She could feel her heart rage against her ribcage.

"MY problem? What's YOUR problem!? I am just being nice and letting you have a chance to have a girl run by your damn side!" She said loudly, causing some of the guys to snicker.

This cause Liam to throw her arm out of his hands, making her stumble backward.

"Well, I never wanted you to be the one I partner with. I'd rather jog alone." He said more calmly, turning around as he tried to calm himself down.

Narcia's wolf didn't like that one bit and pushed her forward, grasping his wrist.

"Look, I... I know that you know no one here... And I get it. I was a bitch to you... But let me try to make up." She said almost in disbelief, how could she tell him that. He was so rude to her today! And he had lied to her when they were kids, so why did she want to make up!? Why didn't she just reject him on the spot.

Because you know he never actually lied... We just wanted to believe he did to forget the pain.

She knew that was the truth, Liam had never lied. He was just a human that she had fallen for... and she was a wolf shifter that needed a wolf mate.

Liam turned around with anger in his eyes, but before he could say anything, the teacher interrupted them.

"You two, you're the last students, get in line for the jog." The teacher said, leaving a baffled Liam and a smiling Narcia.

Resigning to his fate, Liam took place next to Narcia. She smiled as she knew she had gotten what she wanted. Why she wanted him by her side was still a mystery to her.

The class went on without any more incidents. Once they were done jogging, some of the guys took their shirt off as they entered the changing room. The girls chuckled and eyed the boys in delight. Their eyes loved when Liam took his off, sweat dripping down his chest and abs. It nearly got Narcia choked up on her saliva. Was this really the Liam she knew?

"Hey Liam! I think you're my new roommate, right? I'm Matheo, by the way. I noticed you collided with one of the girls a bit there during PE. She an ex of yours?" The blond boy asked as he wrapped his arm around the back of Liam's neck, taking a sniff at him curiously.

"God no... She used to bully me like crazy when I was a kid. I don't know what her problem is." Liam huffed out as he turned on the cold water to wash his face off.

"Ah, well. I know a thing or two about girls, and that one... I don't think you know the truths she hides." Matheo said, causing Liam to turn off the cold water and look back at his new roommate.

"What are you insinuating?" Liam said as Matheo shrugged and headed towards the showers. Liam couldn't help but replay the morning in his head. Clearly, she was playing some sort of plot... What exactly was she after? She seemed to be unable to stay mean to him. She had no problems before, but now it's like she was actually trying not to be too mean to him.

He groaned as he splashed his chest, grabbing a towel and wipping himself. A shiver ran through his back and turned as he heard footsteps.

"Can we talk..." Narcia said, Liam's cheeks crimson red as he covered his chest and boxers with the towel.

"What the hell!? This is the guys changing room! What are you doing in here!?" He said, causing her to sigh. She turned around and locked the door, smiling as she had told everyone to leave.

"I want to speak to you alone, Liam." She said as she walked closer, her heart starting to palpitate as she got closer.

Watch your words... Don't make our mate run off again.

"Be quiet." She told her wolf in her head. She didn't need her nagging about how to handle their mate.

"Stay back! I told you I want nothing to do with you! Can't you take the hint!" Liam said furiously. How dare this woman! He couldn't believe what he was dealing with. How could she keep doing this to him? Was she going to try and manipulate him somehow.

"I..." She took her last step, standing inches from Liam. She gritted her teeth. She knew she couldn't keep lying to herself.

"I'm sorry." She finally managed to say, her eyes looking at the floor in shame. She should have done this long ago.

Liam was absolutely shocked. What was she trying to do? Apologize for the years of torment she gave him!? No, he refused to accept such a puny effort.

"I don't fucking care if you got on your knees. You ruined my whole childhood! As if it wasn't ruined enough as it was considering I had lost my parents! Fuck you! Get lost for once! I'm sick of you!" He yelled, losing his composure. It shocked even himself, putting a hand on his mouth in surprise.

"You... You're rejecting me?" She asked, her lip quivering as her wolf whined deep within her.

"What? I'm not rejecting you, the fuck... I just want you to leave me alone is that so much to ask!? I dont get the whole reject you, we aren't a couple." Liam said, causing her to sigh in a bit of relief. She turned around, eyeing the shower that was still on with Matheo inside, who held his mouth to cover any noise he might make. She sighed and walked out after unlocking the door.

Matheo walked out with a surprised expression, chuckling as he ruffled Liam's hair.

"You sure stood up to her, huh?" He said as Liam's let out a breath he didn't notice he was holding. Seriously, what was wrong with this woman. He let out a frustrated huff, making Matheo chuckle.

"Wanna head to the cafeteria? It's almost lunchtime." Matheo asked, making Liam sigh and start getting dressed.

"Yeah, I got to meet with someone anyway." He said before sighing. He really wanted today to just end already.

They both dressed and made their way towards the cafeteria. Liam couldn't help but gasp at how big the place was. It had two floors dedicated to food and a third one for eating. Matheo couldn't help but chuckle at the awe face Liam was making.

"Liam!" Devan yelled from the second floor, waving down at the two students who had just walked in.

"Oh, that's the guy I needed to meet!" Liam said as he walked towards the stairs, Matheo following close behind him.

"Oh? I didn't know we would have company." Devan said with a tilt of his head. Matheo was shocked at how tall the guy was. Matheo was the same height as Liam, so this guy must've been past 6.5 feet with how tall he was. With a quick wiff, Matheo growled at Devan, who lifted his arms up in defense.

"Whoa, this one is wild, huh?" Devan said teasingly as Liam frowned at Matheo.

"Matheo, what are you doing that for? Devan is nice." Liam said a bit annoyed with Matheo's behavior. He brushed it off and sat down, signaling to the two boys to sit down with him.

"Um... Liam, what about food?" Matheo asked as Liam groaned, causing both boys to frown. They were confused about what was frustrating him.

"I don't have enough money for food..." Liam whispered quietly, barely loud enough for them to hear it.

"Oh mate, we got you!" Devan said as he slammed a bunch of cash on the table.

"That should be enough to cover a meal or two... Right?" Devan asked, chuckling as he lifted his now empty pockets.

"Are you serious!? That's more than 2 meals, Devan. I can't accept that!" Liam said with a blush at the huge cash bill wrap that was given to him.

"It's okay, I work a night guard shift down at the store. I make enough to cover that by the end of this week." He said with a smirk. Even Matheo knew that was a lie. Devan frowned as he watched Matheo glare at him and glared back for a second before smiling back at Liam.

"I don't know how to thank you, Devan... I really appreciate it." He said as Devan shrugged and pulled Liam up by the arm.

"Let's go get that body of yours some food, huh?" Devan said as they walked down to a food desk, Matheo right behind them.

Liam was so glad he had made friends already. It was so weird to him to have some. Narcia had been his one and only ever friend. Why was he thinking of her again!?

"I'm sorry."

He shook his head. Why was he still thinking of her soft apology. He wasn't going to accept it no matter how hard she would try. Liam was so fed up with it all. He hoped she wouldn't be in any of his other classes.

Otherwise, this year would be unbearable.
