The three boys sat down at the table, and all three had now a healthy meal set in their tray. Liam couldn't remember when he had gotten such a nice meal. He barely went by thanks to his job at a forge down 30-minute walk from the university.
"So... Devan. What is your business here in university?" Matheo asked with accusation in his tone. Devan rolled his eyes as he slurped on his udon noodle soup.
"He wants to be a... um... Neurologist?" Liam said as Devan nodded, causing Matheo to furrow his brows. He was surprised that someone like HIM would be interested in a subject like that.
"And you? Ma-the-o? What did you come to study here?" Devan asked in a mocking tone, a sigh leaving Liam's throat.
"I'm actually trying to become a lawyer. I study law and sociology as well as some economics." Matheo said as Devan's eyes lit up.
"I knew I saw you somewhere before. You were in my class this morning. Didn't you change your sociology for PE?" Devan said as Matheo rubbed the back of his neck. Liam turned and looked at Matheo with questions in his eyes.
"Well... I changed it to have it in the afternoon." He said calmly, his eyes watching Liam's reaction. He couldn't know he had changed classes to keep tabs on him. Not that it would be obvious anyway. People changed classes all the time.
"Ah! That means we have PE together all the time. That's cool, I didn't know you could change the hour of your classes!" Liam said enthusiastically.
"Not completely, you can change class hours if there is another class at the time you asked for." Matheo said, receiving a nod in understanding from Liam.
"Isn't that your ex?" Devan asked as Liam shivered, groaning as he turned around, his eyes making contact with Narcia that was climbing the stairs. When their eyes met, her heart stopped. She wasn't looking where she was going and nearly fell. The view caused anxiety to creep through Liam for a second. Sure, she had hurt him, but he never ever wanted her to be hurt in return.
"I thought you said that wasn't your ex?" Matheo said in a teasing tone, receiving an elbow in the stomach from Liam.
"She isn't my ex..." Liam said with what sounded like a hint of disappointment in his tone. Liam sighed and watched. She huffed towards the boys' direction and walked to the drink barista. He already knew what she was getting.
"Strawberry milshake with a hint of chocolate milk, coconut flakes on the whipped cream." He mimicked her, making both boys laugh. They weren't sure if he was just making a joke or if this boy would be dead accurate.
Narcia turned around and walked past the boys. Just as he had said, her order was exactly what he had mocked. He rolled his eyes as both boys burst into laughter, shaking their head and slapping their thighs. They didn't know if they could believe him about not being her ex. The history definitely seemed deeper than a simple bully.
"Come on mate, you can't know someone's favorite drink like that and not have some love history!" Devan laughed out, Liam couldn't respond back.
He remembered very clearly, as if it had happened yesterday. The little 5 year old angel that had come to be his friend. He had a puppy crush on her by the end of their first year. But he also remembered very clearly what happened as well when he met her parents. She had been so angry at him, all because of some pack thing. He never understood what she had meant.
The boys noticed the sadness in Liam's eyes, lowering their laugh to a small chuckle. They wondered why the two had such an awful relationship. Just like a savior, the bell rang, causing a few of the students to rush towards their next classes.
"Well, that's my cue! See you later, Liam!" Devan said, gulping down his udon leftover before running off into the distance. Liam waved and leaned back, taking a bite out of his salmon BLT bagel.
"I don't like that guy, Liam. It might be best that you avoid him..." Matheo said as he played with his piece of pork pie, Liam frowning at him as he chewed.
"He seemed pretty nice to me, I don't get what's between you two. You kept glaring at each other." Liam exclaimed as Matheo rolled his eyes. Liam wouldn't know what he had smelled, the stench of a creature far more dangerous than Liam could ever imagine.
"I'm just saying this for your good. He belongs to a bad group of people. Just try and stay clear of him, please?" Matheo almost begged, he didnt want to have to see Liam in a state that people like Devan sometimes left humans in.
Liam didn't like the way Matheo spoke of Devan. As far as he knew, the guy was pretty chill. He rolled his eyes and sighed while pinching the brink of his nose. He barely knew Matheo, so he didn't really like taking commands from him. Although this seemed more like a request for his safety, which meant no harm.
"I will try... But I don't understand what he possibly did that made you think he was part of a bad group of people."
"Just... Trust me on this, Liam."

The bell rang for the end of the breach between the after lunch class and the last class of the day. Students rushing around to make it to their final class before the next bell. Narcia ran as she tried to make it to her own. She hated having economics, but she needed to please her parents with at least one of the classes they wanted for her.
"Narcy! You made it." A boy yelled as she entered the class. She chuckled and waved at him.
"Just barely. How are you doing?" She asked as the boy stretched and shrugged.
"I'm doing good, alpha, and you?" He asked as she sighed and looked out the window, her wolf already longing to smell their mate again.
"I've been better, I suppose." She said as she sat down behind him and next to the window. She leaned into her hand and sighed, looking into the far distance.
"Alpha, he might not be a lost cause." He said, catching her attention almost immediately. Her wolf howling in happiness as she gripped his collar.
"What are you saying? Do I have a chance with him?" She said with sparkle in her eyes. She was longing to take a deep inhale of her mate, but she needed to be patient. Especially now that she knew she might not be doomed.
"You might... But you clearly did a lot of damage to the guy. Maybe give him space?" He said before she dropped him and groaned. She was tired of being away, and so was her wolf.
The bell rang, and students finished filling the classroom. Narcia couldn't bother listening to the class. She wanted to be anywhere but here now. She needed to divide a plan that would get her mate to trust her. The apology clearly hadn't worked, or at least not as much as she had wanted it to.
What did you expect? You bullied him almost all his life.
Her wolf was right. She couldn't just expect immediate forgiveness. She had to be patient with Liam. She tried to focus on her class, but she couldn't stop thinking of him. Her heart was longing to hold her mate in her arms, to inhale his scent, to watch him sleep safely by her side. The bell caused her to jump as she had completely lost track of reality while daydreaming. The boy in front of her chuckled as he left the classroom, leaving her all alone in the empty room.
"I really have to get myself forgiven... I don't care if you're human Liam. I want you as mine... I won't give up until you either reject me or accept our bond." She told herself as she stood up. She was going to win his heart or lose it. Either way, she would give her best.
She made her way to the boy's dorm, groaning as some of the wolfs from other packs whistled at her. She had no interest in any of them whatsoever. She made her way to the room section, sniffing the air to catch that pinewood smell of his. Her eyes nearly rolled back when she passed by a room, facing it immediately. She was about to knock but was rudely interrupted.
"Go away! Ugh! How did you even find me!?" Liam yelled from inside the room, causing Matheo to chuckle.
"Who are you yelling at like this, Liam?" Matheo asked, knowing by the smell that someone was behind the door.
"Narcia, please... One day at least, fuck off." He said softly, almost as if this pained him. She didn't like the pained sound his voice made as he begged her to leave. She sighed and pushed her forehead against the door, taking a deep breath before walking off.
He was right. She needed to give him space, but she wouldn't give up on him, however. She just needed to stay strong and fight her way to his heart.
