“Let’s go out.”
“What?” Kei turns to Rika in confusion, having just been zoning out.
Rika giggles. “You were so out of it, you heard nothing I was just saying, did you?”
“Sorry, I was...distracted.”
“No, you were moping. I get you miss your girlfriend, but you can’t brood over her forever.”
“What are you saying? She’s not my girlfriend. I told you, we’re best friends. She doesn’t like me that way.”
Rika laughs. “Right, so then how about we head to the clinic? We can make out; I’ll pleasure you with my knee and maybe you won’t cry this time. In a totally friendly way, of course.”
The sarcasm practically drips from her lips, making Kei furrow her brow. “I get your point, but I’m telling you we’re just friends. I think we kind of just got caught up in the moment because we were in such an intimate position. Then there’s the matter of the natural chemistry between a vampire and a human. Dr. Liz said that it was basically a reflex. We couldn’t control it.”
