Way back when Mark's mother was hospitalized and he was the only one who took care of his 7 years-old twin siblings While Mark was 15. Since the situation was too hard for him, his uncle Brown, the brother of his father, took a flight from New Gratias to help them. After staying with them for a while, uncle Brown decided to look after Mark's siblings and asked for Mark's permission first.
[[[Uncle Brown is a middle-aged man with a friendly and approachable face. At 45 years old, he is still youthful and energetic, with a bright smile that lights up his features. Despite his relatively short stature - standing at 5"6 - he carries himself with an air of confidence and self-assuredness that belies his size.
Uncle Brown has a round, open face with a warm complexion that is complemented by his short, dark hair. His eyes are a warm brown, and they are often twinkling with mirth and good humor. He has a strong jawline and a broad smile that adds to his overall sense of approachability.]]]
One day, uncle Brown approached Mark In the Hospital and said, "Hey Mark, can I talk to you for a minute?"
Mark replied, "Sure, what's up?"
"Well, back to the time when I first came here, I could see how difficult it was for you to take care of your siblings and keep up with school at the same time. I've decided that I want to stay here and take care of them for a while," uncle Brown explained.
Mark was surprised but also relieved at the same time. "That's kind of you, uncle Brown. But are you sure you want to do this?"
"Absolutely. I want to help out and be there for your siblings while your mom is recovering. But I wanted to make sure it was okay with you first."
Mark nodded,
"Thank you so much, uncle Brown. I don't know what we would do without you."
Uncle Brown smiled, "Don't mention it. Family takes care of each other."
Later that day, Mark went to his mother's room to tell her the news. "Mom, uncle Brown wants to stay here and take care of us for a while. He's really serious about it."
His mother looked surprised but then smiled. "That's very kind of him. I'm glad we have a family who can help us out during this time."
Mark nodded in agreement, "Me too, Mom. And I can focus on my school work without worrying about my siblings."
His mother hugged him and said,
"You're such a responsible and caring son. I'm proud of you, Mark."
"And I Lov....."
Mark's mind was lost in a sea of memories with his beloved mother, recalling the time when she was hospitalized. Suddenly, he jolted awake in a stark hospital room, confused and disoriented. He had no recollection of how he got there or why he was even in the hospital at all.
"I tried to hold on, but my mother's words trailed off as her image began to fade away. I reached out to grab her, but she was already too far away, disappearing into the lightness.
Slowly, I began to hear voices around me, pulling me back into consciousness. It was my younger sister, Ynna, reading her favorite story.
I began to stir. My eyelids fluttered open, and I squinted against the harsh glare of the fluorescent lights overhead. The beeping of the monitors and the hum of the ventilator filled my ears, and I could feel the roughness of the sheets against my skin.
As I looked around, I saw my Uncle Brown sleeping in a chair beside my bed. Ywen, the twin sister of Ynna, had fallen asleep with her head in Uncle Brown's lap." Mark is talking to Himself Trying to analyze the situation.
"Uncle Brown! Uncle! Kuya Mark is waking up!" Yna exclaimed, her face beaming with excitement.
"Oh, thank God, you're awake now," Uncle Brown said, speaking with tears of joy.
"My head is spinning. I'm struggling to remember where I am and how I ended up here," Mark said weakly.
Uncle Brown's expression turned somber as he explained, "You're in the hospital, Mark. The police found you by the lake with gunshot wounds on your back. You've been in a coma for quite some time, but thankfully, you're awake now."
"My heart raced as I tried to process the information. I couldn't remember anything from the incident or how long I'd been unconscious. The realization that I had been shot and left for dead filled my mind with fear and confusion.
I tried to sit up slowly, but I felt a sharp pain shoot through my body, causing me to wince and lie back down. I felt frustrated and weak, not able to control my own body."
"Don't push yourself too hard, Mark," Uncle Brown cautioned. "You need to take it easy and give yourself time to heal."
—Mark nodded weakly, feeling overwhelmed with emotions.—
"Kuya Mark, you're awake!" Ywen exclaimed, rushing over to hug him.
—Mark smiled, feeling grateful to see his sisters again. Although they had been staying with their uncle, he was happy that they were able to be there with him in the hospital. However, he still felt confused and disoriented, trying to process everything that had happened to him.
Ynna and Ywen chattered excitedly, telling Mark about all the things that had happened while he was asleep. The Twins told him about the flowers they had brought him and the get-well cards from his friends. —
[[[Twin Ynna and Ywen are a pair of identical 14-year-old girls with playful and mischievous energy. They both have curly hair that falls in wild, bouncy ringlets around their faces, adding to their sense of youthful exuberance.
Despite their identical features, Ynna and Ywen each have unique and expressive faces. Their features are delicately proportioned, with small noses and full, pouty lips that are often turned up in a mischievous smile. Their eyes are large and expressive, with long lashes that flutter dramatically when they're excited or surprised.]]]
"Where's Mom?" Mark's voice trembled as he asked the question, his eyes searching the room for any sign of his mother.
Uncle Brown's expression turned solemn. "I'm sorry to say that your mom is still missing," he said gently.
—Mark's eyes widened with shock as he struggled to process the news. His mother was missing? How could that be? The last thing he remembered was going to the Midlight Tower with her, and now he was waking up in a hospital bed with no memory of what had happened.—
"But how could that be? Where could she be?" Mark asked, his voice trembling with fear. "
The only thing I remember is her appearance outside the school, and after that, we went to Midlight Tower to surprise me. Why is she missing now?"
Tears streamed down his face, His shoulders shaking as they sobbed uncontrollably
"I'm sorry, Mark," Uncle Brown replied, his voice heavy with sadness.
"The police have been searching for her, but so far, there are no updates. It's been two months now since you and your mother went missing, and the last thing they know is that you were found unconscious in the lake."
—Mark felt a lump form in his throat as he realized the gravity of the situation. His mother was still out there somewhere, and he had no idea if she was safe or not. He longed to see her, to hold her in his arms and know that she was okay, but the reality of the situation was slowly sinking in.
Tears began to well up in his eyes as he thought about all the memories he shared with his mother. The thought of never seeing her again was unbearable, and he couldn't help but feel a sense of helplessness and despair.—
—Mark's mind raced with questions and fears. What happened to his mother? Was she hurt or worse? Would he ever see her again? He felt a lump forming in his throat as he struggled to hold back tears.—
"I want to see her," Mark said, his voice barely above a whisper.
"I know you do, Mark. We all do," Uncle Brown said, placing a comforting hand on his shoulder. "But right now, you need to focus on healing and getting better. We'll do everything we can to find your mother and bring her back."
After a while, the Doctor came to Check Mark's Condition
—The doctor checked Mark's vitals, his eyes scanning the monitors and notes on his clipboard. Uncle Brown watched anxiously from the corner of the room, waiting for any news.
The doctor turns to Uncle Brown, who is standing next to him, looking worried. Ynna and Ywen, Mark's twin younger siblings, are also present in the room.—
"Well, it's a miracle that his heart rate and blood pressure seem stable, and his body has turned to normal, " the doctor finally said, turning to face Uncle Brown. "But we still need to keep him under observation for a while longer. He's just come out of a coma, so we want to make sure he's fully recovered before we discharge him."
"What about the gunshot wound on his back?" Uncle Brown asked, his brow furrowing with concern.
"The wound is healing nicely, Mr. Brown, but in the past few weeks, we discovered the presence of unknown microorganisms inside his veins. These microorganisms may affect other systems in his body and cause internal pain. However, they are also known to stimulate innate cells that help improve his immune system," the doctor explained. "We will need to monitor his pain levels and adjust his medication accordingly."
Uncle Brown nodded, still visibly concerned about Mark's condition. "And Doc, why hasn't he fully recovered his memories?" he asked.
"Well, as you may know, the spinal cord acts as a superhighway that transmits messages between the brain and the rest of the body," the doctor Explained. "When an injury occurs, it can interfere with the flow of these messages and cause a variety of complications such as paralysis, loss of sensation, and other motor impairments. In Mark's specific case, the bullet's impact on his spinal cord affected his brainstem and hippocampus, which resulted in some memory loss. Nevertheless, there is a positive aspect to his recovery. We have observed that unknown cells are aiding in his recovery, which is a promising development."
—The hippocampus is located deep in the brain, hidden within the medial part of the temporal lobe. The hippocampus is responsible for forming new memories and consolidating them into long-term memory. Damage to the hippocampus can result in the inability to form new memories or recall past events.—
"We'll be moving him to the recovery room for now. He'll be more comfortable there and we can continue to monitor his progress. We'll also start him on some physical therapy to help him regain his strength."
Uncle Brown nodded again, He followed the doctor out of the room, leaving Mark to rest.
—As Mark was wheeled out of the room on a hospital bed, his twin sisters, Ynna and Ywen, trailed behind him. Uncle Brown watched on, his face etched with worry, but a small glimmer of happiness shone through for his nephew's condition.—
A nurse bustled about, setting up equipment and checking on Mark's I.V.
"Welcome to the recovery room," the nurse said with a smile. "You'll be here for a little while as you continue to recover. Don't worry, we'll take good care of you."
[[[ I.V. stands for intravenous, which is a medical term that refers to the delivery of medication, fluids, or nutrition directly into a patient's bloodstream through a vein. An I.V is usually administered through a small tube inserted into a vein in the arm, hand, or other parts of the body. It is a common medical procedure used in hospitals, clinics, and other medical facilities.]]]
