Chapter 12 - Ch 12 Something on the Bed

Irish ran right away to her son's room when she heard the scream of her son who had just left the kitchen. When she arrived at her son's room, she immediately asked in a panic. "What's going on? Why did you scream?"

Hiraeth turned to his mother then pointed to his bed. "I'm sorry, mom. I was startled when I saw it over there!" Hirateh said, explaining the reason he screamed.

"Never mind."

Irish paid attention to the thing her son pointed to, she turned to her son then asked. "A bird?"

"I think so."

Hiraeth approached his bed. Actually, from the beginning he knew that it was a bird, but he was already screaming so his mother rushed to see him. Before his mother came up, Hiraeth realized that was just an eagle.

"An eagle?" Hiraeth muttered when he touched the bird and saw clearly the shape of the beak and claws of the bird.

"What is the Northern bird doing here?"

"Northern bird?"

"That's right. Do you see the feather? Normally, animals with the colors silver and white are those from northern locations."

Hiraeth nodded in understanding. It led him to recall a white wolf that he saw when he was in the Kingdom Of Amerta. The northernmost kingdom, which is always covered in ice, is dependent on food imports from its neighboring country because it is difficult to grow crops there.

If they wanted to grow something, they had to build a glasshouse and stabilize the temperature of the glasshouse with the aid of magic crystals. It was unquestionably that people who had it only came from the royal family or particular nobles.

Although it was said that this region was dependent on neighboring countries for food, the Kingdom of Amerta is one of the richest. It's possible since they are well recognized for their mining industry, which began with high-quality coal and magic crystals. The cold temperature of the kingdom preserved the quality of the magic crystals as there were no seasonal changes in the kingdom.

Some said, although the sun appeared, the ice would not melt, even if the sun shined for months. Therefore, the country is frequently nicknamed as the white country, or the land of endless snow.

Even while it is not as awful as Amerta, there is still one more country where it is extremely difficult to grow crops. Just like Amerta, the area is the richest one. The kingdom of Dersik. The kingdom is a region of which 60 percent of the land is desert, 30 percent is barren land, and there are only about 10 percent of the kingdom's land that can be planted with plants quite well. It was a land that was on the banks of the Ulet river.

The river is the only place where there are trees with green leaves or trees that bear fruit.

Dersik is a rich region for two reasons. The first is because of an abundance of quality gems, and the second is the growth of grapes. Or rather wine. The grapes that grow around the banks of Ulet river, being the best wines of the world. So since the leadership of the former king, wine has become one of the biggest earnings of the kingdom besides gems. Of course, fresh grapes are also traded at fantastic prices.

The one unique thing from both countries, Amerta and Dersik. Although the temperatures of each region are opposite, miraculously, their regions are next to each other. So as the border of the countries is a neutral territory, where the temperature is never less than ten degrees, nor it is never more than ten degrees. The most dreamed territory of the nobles.

"It looks like he is injured."

Hiraeth turned to his mother, then he paid attention to the bird carefully. Because of the poor lighting, he did not realize that the bird was injured, even though the blood was prominent on the white feathers of the bird, but unfortunately Hiraeth did not realize it as the red stain was behind the wing.

Hiraeth was amazed by his mother's vision, in addition to being dimly lit, the wound was hidden, but the woman was able to find it even without touching it.

"Can we take care of him until he recovers?" Hiraeth asked, for some reason he wanted to nurse the bird instead of killing it.

Yes, he could have killed the bird then made it as a meal for tomorrow, but he did not do it.

"Sure. We have plenty of medicine at home, as once you were easy to get hurt. I"ll get it in my room."

Irish disappeared after saying it, leaving Hiraeth with the bird. Hiraeth held the bird on his lap right away and noticed carefully for the other parts that could be injured. The bird made a sound, as it grimaced in pain, the bird did not make any move when Hiraeth examined his body, although the bird was in pain. Perhaps he had endured the pain of his wound for a long time.

"Bring it to me."

Hiraeth handed the bird to her, then he noticed the woman took out the medicine from a box. The woman also brought warm water in a glass inside it. At first, Hiraeth was wondering what the water was for, but the question was immediately answered when the mother cleaned the bird's wound using warm water.

Actually, the wound was not that large, it was just that the wound was in a fatal position. Because he was a bird, it was certain that he would flap his wings, so the wound on his wings got worse over time. Then by some miracle, the bird landed into their house, even lying on the bed.

"Close your windows tightly tonight. The neighbor's cat could have been a threat to him."

"Alright, mom."

The bird was placed in a box lined with cloth. They also gave him fish to eat. After getting full the bird went to sleep right away, ignoring Hiraeth who was still noticing him.

"Hey, I don't have any friends. If you don't mind, will you be my friend?" Hiraeth spoke to the bird, the bird was just silent for a moment as if he was sleeping, but when Hiraeth was about to return to his bed, the bird sounded as if responded to what Hiraeth said. Of course, Hiraeth was happy about it.

"It's better for me to get some sleep as I have a long journey. Even if it takes years, I will definitely take revenge. So now, it's best to sleep." He murmured lying on his bed. "Good night, Owen!"
