Chereads / Gene System / Chapter 30 - Rush

Chapter 30 - Rush

Waves of heat fall upon black curls, slowly reaching a set of green eyes. His sleep is broken through the sunlight causing him to shift the crust in his eyes.

"What time is it?" Blake says through a loud snore.

Black hair flows its way into his doorway. "Your still here Blake, its already 8:30" Raven says breaking through his carefree awakening.

''By no means will they abide by your time'' Pyres' warning rings throughout his mind, sprouting intense urgency through his drowsy mind, awakening it fully.

"How do i always manage this". In a flurry clothes and gear are strewn around the room in a controlled tornado of chaos.

"Don't worry about breakfast sis" Blake says, shoving his feet into his keepups. His worn out jacket flies over his head and is quickly zipped up. Flying down the stairs, the front door gets very close to knocking him one.

*Zap*

"Wish me luck sis"! Blake says through a puff of smoke.

"Running out of time already"! Roaring green soars from their balcony. His ankles begin to scream from the landing.

His freshly awakened muscles are put into overdrive. Burns and cramps are forgotten in his rush. Ripping through traffic. His rush dominates his awareness.

"I can't be late for this"

"I need to move faster". Steeling himself Blake slams the toes of his boots into the regencrete, loud humms reverberate off his feet.

"Max output has been selected, energy will be drained faster than usual". A notification is projected on his watch. Displaying the current energy amount being 50%.

''I'll wait to give it more energy, I don't want to overload them yet at least'' His intuition dictates his decision.

A network of alleyways flooded by him. As he continues to build up his unrelenting speed. Tight corridors and alleyways scrape by him as his urgency makes him work on overdrive.

"8:45"

"I'm not gonna make it at this rate, i haven't done this in a while" Inspiration floods forth from a familiar memory.

"Lets see if I still got it". Coiling his muscles at the decision. Blake summons as much force as he can in his legs. Planting his foot into the alley wall, he manages to direct all of his momentum into a leap catching one of the low hanging roofs. Struggling to pull himself up the prosthetic goes into overdrive denting roofing.

"Woo hasn't felt that in a while, looks like strength is the next one to upgrade" Rushes of adrenaline blast through his nervous system as his mind continues to urge his body forward.

Looking forward, constant roofs of buildings continue to ascend in his vision. The land being fully utilized leaving only forest in specified areas. Continuing his momentum hurdle after hurdle is cleared. Managing to clear them with each jump, Drops of terrifying heights enter his vision.

"This still isn't enough"

"8:50"

"10 Minutes I have to think of something quick. There's gotta be something". Blake begins racking his brain as time begins to put him into a vice grip of stress. Continuing to hop roof after roof. An escape route refuses to form in his mind.

[Would you like to activate Electro web]

[10 Energy]

"Why the hell would that help?" Irritation bubbles from the seemingly useless suggestion.

"Better yet why is it asking me shouldn't it just wait for my input" His confusion is soon extinguished as the system's previous actions come to mind.

"Why do i even bother with reason with this".

"Alright sure why not I've got nothing to lose" Huffing at his dwindling time.

[Electro Web has been activated]

[40/50 Energy]

With the skill now active, A large knit of green webs start to surface out of the tips of his fingers. Putting his indexes together prosthetic and flesh touch.

"Now what"? Blake says pulling his fingers apart, green webs stretch and dangle in response. With nothing to lose he begins messing with the retention. Only for it to spring inspiration to mind.

"THAT'S IT"

"IT'LL BE RISKY BUT SCREW IT"!

Attaching the web to either side of the roof. A large netting of green webs spreads from one side to other. Sparking and buzzing like a flytrap. Pushing back as hard as he can, his boots dig into the webbing.

Building the retention as much as he can bear. Force continues to build up in response as he continues going further and further back.

"Energy received" His boots hum with more voracity than before, a notification projects its way into his vision. 75% Energy total.

"Ain't that handy" Blake says only for the web to finally release the pent up elastic energy. His face is engulfed in wind filling his eye sockets and mouth with air as he blasts through the skyscrapers of boreal. An image of a green star wreaks havoc through the sky.

"HOLY"

Rotating his body as quickly as he can, he brushes against the glass and framework of one of the skyscrapers. Passing by in a blur of wind and green.

"Did you guys hear something"? A business man in the skyscraper says.

"No why" His colleague responds.

"Must be the caffeine don't worry about it". The man says getting back to his stacks of work.

"AAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHH"! Wind continues to barrel its way down his throat forming breathlessness. The exam site made its way into his blurring view.

"WHAT DO I DO"! A yell escapes him along with valuable oxygen.

"WHAT DO I DO"! Blake says as the ground continues to get closer and closer dread following suit as the unwanted outcome starts to play in his mind.

His screams alert the nearby participants. Causing eyes to flock to the crashing green star. Long blonde hair waves through the oncoming wind.

"You really are a reckless one" A smirk forms on the man's face.

*Snap*

"Here i thought you didn't pass, looks my expectations of you were right after all." A soft voice enters Blakes frenzied brain. An odd security touches against his feet, solid ground holds him firm.

"I didn't wipeout" Shock surges through Blake as he feet begin to dance in glee over the return of ground.

"Thank me for that" A familiar gaze meets him.

"Morgan"!? Blakes confusion reaching its peak.

"That's right, you'll find out how i did that soon enough"

"Your entrance was crazy, managed to make it just in time" His coyness leaked into his tone.

"8:59 am" A projection forms into Blake's view, his watch ringing away at the alarm.

"Could have really screwed us both". Morgan says with a chuckle.

"But don't worry about that, we have bigger fish to fry". He says gesturing over to the exam tower.
