*Knock*
"1 Second be there now". Thuds slam on the wooden stairs. Wet black hair clings to her shirt.
"Hello, sorry I just got out of the shower". Raven says, opening the door while drying her hair off with a towel.
"Don't be sorry". Pyre says beaming with a smile.
"Today is the day we begin your mentorship"! Pyre yells out uproariously.
"Follow me, the military already assigned training sim rooms for mentors and students"
"I'm going to get you used to your powers like the back of your hand". Igniting flames in his palm as he says this.
"Alright let me just gather my things" Raven says slinging her purse over her shoulder
"Key card, gum and my phone, perfect". Storing away all of the items she slides on her blue trainers and hoodie.
"Alright it's nothing formal right"? Raven says looking at her baggy clothes. Not a sense of uniform to her in sight.
"HAHAH"! Pyre sheds tears of laughter.
"OF COURSE NOT"!
"We're sparing not getting you wed". He says, finishing his chuckle.
"Cool, hate wearing formal wear". She says, chucking a stick of gum in her mouth.
"Have to agree with you there, it's why you never see me in military attire. Just my own battle gear"
"". Pyre says, chuckling to himself.
"It holds too many memories to change out. That and it keeps me cool when I overheat". He says brushing his hand over the old marks and scuffs on his battle gear. The shoulder pads have seen better days. Thankfully the general skin of his battle gear remains intact; a hexagonal pattern covers the whole skin glowing intensely with red.
"I get that, have the same thing with this hoodie. Even though its old and worn out it holds one of the few good memories of the past"
"Remember my dad won me this hoodie at a carnival and was so excited to gave it to me"
"Still remember those words of joy, Perfect know my little girl can I have a piece of the stars with her". She says imitating her father gleeful tone. Her hand finds its way on the shooting star symbol on the hoodie. To the stars embroidered into the fabric.
"Always loved stars couldn't go a second without seeing him with one in some way shape or form". A tear starts to form in her green eyes.
"You father was a bright man, to this day I can't stop seeing the Asteria influence on technology". Pyre says with a comforting tone.
A bubble slowly starts to form expanding outward, hiding her mournful expression.
"Your power is telekinesis right"? Pyre says changing the subject back to their focus.
Raven nods through the wad of gum.
"Have you ever tried making that gum bubble float?
A confused expression fills her face behind the huge pink bubble encompassing her face.
"Think of it as an exercise before the spar. Try and keep that bubble afloat as much as you can bear till we get to the Sim room". Pyre says in an optimistic tone.
Biting off the end of the bubble, Raven seals it. Her hair slowly starts to float as the bubble rises in the air not far from them.
"Like this"? Still baffled at the concept.
"Perfect"
After around 15 minutes the two arrive at a private facility for the military. Deep carbon and Reinforce steel litter the whole facility. The grey steel is outshined by the deep blue of the carbon. As the two enter, the sounds of others fill their ears.
Sweat crawls its way down her freckled face, wetting her green eyes in the process. The bubble of gum just managed to keep its way off the ground.
"Oh thank god can I stop". She says clenching and unclenching her numb fingers.
"Yes, you did well Raven" Pyre says full of smiles.
"Those types of exercises are really good for increasing your stamina with your power try and keep doing that going forward
"The more you do it the easier it becomes over time". Experience fills his tone as he says this.
"Looks like were not the only ones here today"
"Well that not too big a deal" Pyre says nonchalantly
"You might come across someone in a similar place Raven". He says.
Walking up to the sim room now. He punches in his private code on the holo-panel. Spinning a wheel on the screen it falls on an outcome. Immediately the film of the sim room stretches open.
"Remember don't hold back for this one" Pyre says, sending her a warm grin as they enter.
In an opposite training room. A short blue haired girl begins sweating. Fruitlessly attempting to summon something out of her palm.
"UUUAAHHH". Yelling out in her anger. Smacking her hands into her head, pulling at her blue strands.
"Late awakening AS IF". She yells out punching the wall of the inactive sim room.
"I just don't get it, why does my brother have powers and I don't were related DAMMIT" Her injustice continues to boil her anger.
. How is that even fair? Her nails start digging into her palms.
"I can't even fight back". The flashes of her brother always saving her pour into her mind like salt on wounds.
"I'm just useless" Tears fall down her face.
"Useless doubtful" A gruff voice enters the training room, followed by the hard soles of combat boots. An old grey haired man enters the sim room. An empathic look forms in his only eye.
"Every comrade I've ever come across has their own set of strengths" He says in a carefree tone, drinking from a silver flask.
"You just have to find your own" His carefree tone gets sharper saying this. Rubbing at the grey hairs on his beard an idea comes to mind.
"Have you tried using a weapon"
"No why"? She responds, breaking through the previous set of tears.
"You never know where your talent might bloom. I have a feeling with you as well" His yellowed teeth form into a smile through this grey beard.
"In my years on the battlefield, there have been a few who go down a different route to power users". He says unsheathing a long katana from his waist.
"They get just as many results"
"Give this a test" The man says handing her the crimson blade, wave patterns detail the side of it ornately streaking toward the tip of it..
"I'm curious to see how you'll first take to it"
Receiving the blade, she begins to feel a strange sense of comfort. Like a missing piece in her life finding its way into the puzzle. Her hands begin to form around the hilt of the Blade. Locked in a confident grip.
Slowly her posture starts to take shape, intuition guiding the process. The length of the blade is balanced beautifully by her.
The old man's eye locks with the girls his thoughts streamlining. ''I thought as much, your aura is too bright not to have something hidden underneath the surface. Still who would of thought it would come out like this''
His eye watches the golden flow of energy circulate rapidly around her, the source of it pouring with no restraint from her mind. Overflowing every part of her body. A gold shimmer starts to emit off her. ''Now this is rare" His thoughts get more and more intrigued seeing the display of aura.
"Now give it a test strike, here I will summon you a dummy". Projecting a holo-screen from his watch, he selects a decent defense based one.
''Lets see if she can handle 3 star defense. Beginner power users even struggle with this'' Wanting to see how far this girl can go he selects a harder trial then normal.
A large gladiator is materialized in the space they're in. Donned with rough metals forming into an abstract piece of armor somehow protecting him.
Instinct floods her mind along with a strong sense of force, her eyes lock onto an opening in the dummy. Gripping the blades hilt as hard she can she rushes forward, lunging forward she slices the blade outward from herself. Sending a strong horizontal slash into the dummy's side.
[Confirmed down] The room rings out.
Realizing the series of actions performed she's left in bewilderment over her own body's fluidity. The golden glow slowly dimmed in the process.
"Some may not have powers in the normal sense. It doesn't mean they're not strong". He says stroking his beard smiling.
"What's your name girl". He says
"Enyo, what about you sir"? She responds with the fleeting sense of calm.
"Dolos". His gruff voice cracks out through his vocal cords.
