Chapter 7 - Don't want to keep promises

Richard was sitting relaxed on the sofa, enjoying breakfast while waiting for Daisy who was getting ready because after this they were going to Bartman's house.

"Daisy, we don't have much time," he said then drank his coffee little by little. "You haven't even eaten your breakfast yet," he continued.

"Wait a minute," Daisy called out, brushing her hair that wasn't yet completely dry. She was already beautiful wearing a dark green shirt suit, wearing light makeup, and then green tea jasmine perfume. the girl was wearing big glasses with black frames that were available in a box, then put the box back in her bag.

Daisy walked over to Richard who was having breakfast then sat down on another couch.

"Hey..." Richard looked at Daisy with a frown.

"What?" asked Daisy with an innocent look.

"Can't you just throw away your damn glasses?" asked Richard irritably, noticing Daisy's utterly inelegant appearance. "Yesterday I was okay with you because you look better without those damn glasses, but why are you wearing it again now?"

"Sorry... I have a nearsighted problem, so I have to wear it when I go to campus," Daisy replied with a crooked face. "This is like...I couldn't recognize your face from ten meters away," she continued.

"That's bad, really bad!" cried Richard angrily. "But you should have chosen a better shade of glasses... Now you look like a nerd!"

"That's the reality."

"But now you are my wife... You have to look better, elegant, classy..."

"Excuse me ..."

"We're going to buy contact lenses," said Richard.

"No!" Daisy immediately shook her head.

"That's better than wearing big glasses like that," said Richard then returned to his coffee.

"I'm afraid to wear contact lenses. I don't dare to put them on my eyes, then ... I'm afraid to forget to take them off when I sleep," said Daisy sadly. "Please ... .let me wear glasses... I just wear them while studying and in public places," she continued.

Richard breathed out harshly, glancing at Daisy who didn't look the least bit attractive in his eyes. from clothes, hairstyle, then glasses, very bad like nerds who often get bullied at school. He couldn't imagine what people would say when he was with his wife in a public place.

"You know who I am... Don't embarrass me just because of your appearance!" he said.

Daisy scrunches her face, feeling sad and disappointed. So far she has always been comfortable with her style but today she has to get complaints from her husband, even if it is a husband she doesn't want.

'I've imagined marrying a man who fits my criteria and my lifestyle, but this is what I got,' she thought sadly.

"Hurry up and eat, we'll just go to your parents' house for a while. After that, stop by the optical shop," Richard shouted curtly.

Daisy was just silent, slowly taking her breakfast in the form of a sandwich accompanied by an omelet, bacon, and a cup of hot tea.

Richard stood up, then walked towards the wall while trying to contact someone.

Daisy ate while glancing at her cellphone, seeing that there were lots of incoming messages from professors and friends.

'Oh, my God... They must have been surprised by yesterday's wedding,' she thought.

___

After having breakfast together, Richard Daisy left the hotel. they immediately headed to Bartman's house accompanied by a driver. And it took about 30 minutes to get there.

Daisy immediately got out of the car and went straight to her mother who greeted her while Richard was greeted by Bartman and expected to sit in the living room.

"Maybe I won't be much help in your company matters," said Richard casually.

Bartman frowned. "What do you mean?"

"I'll give you two million dollars."

"Richard, that's not enough!" Bartman said angrily. "You promised to give 10 million dollars after marrying my daughter!"

"But it's Daisy who married me, not Irina," Richard said casually, crossing his legs while his back rested against the couch. "I helped you it was because of my generosity. what Irina did to me, made me so angry but I still tolerate you... 2 million dollars is enough for you... Even though you don't deserve it."

"But Daisy is also my daughter, she is also precious like Irina..if in reality you can't help me as you promised, divorce her. I don't need the $2 million," Bartman said with a disappointed look.

Richard smiled sinisterly. "You want me to divorce her whereas yesterday we just got married? Are you trying to embarrass me again?"

"That's because you didn't keep your promise!" Bartman said, turning his head away.

"But the wedding happened because Irina didn't keep her promise either!" Richard cried, Get emotional. "Before she seduced me, convinced me that she was ready to be my wife so I prepared such a big party... But in the end, she left me. she made me have to accept the loss financially and also morally ... she already insulted me in front of my family because she left me for another man. it's like an insult to me!"

Bartman was silent by bending his face, clenching his fists, and trying to hold back his emotions.

"If Irina had never promised to marry me, maybe I would never have prepared such a lavish party… And maybe today I would still be single….maybe I can find a better girl than her or Daisy!" Richard shouted angrily, his eyes widened and his breathing became unstable. "I know I'm bad, but I can't just end a marriage, let alone that marriage is done in earnest, not just to save myself from embarrassment... You know there is a priest who guides us in making our marriage vows, doing the blessing... It's not something trivial!"

Bartman sighed, then nodded his head. "Okay... Sorry... I was indeed wrong..."

"Irina is the most guilty one here!" Richard exclaimed before Bartman could finish his sentence. "She's like a cheat... A cheat for me and this family!"

"Yeah, I know..."

"So don't demand that I keep my promise... That's so impossible!" Richard confirmed, then glanced at Daisy who was coming down the stairs with her mother. "Never meddle in our marriage... She's mine!"

Bartman turned to Daisy and his wife, Georgina. he swallowed his saliva, looking at his innocent daughter having to live with the rude and selfish Richard. There was a feeling of unwillingness, but he was unable to do anything to save her.

"Daddy..."

Daisy went to her father and hugged him. "Don't worry ... .I'll be fine," she said, as if aware of her father's concern.

"I'm sorry," whispered Bartman.

"It's okay ... you don't need to worry anymore. Our problems will pass, I will persuade him to continue helping you according to his promise," Daisy whispered.

Bartman immediately let go of Daisy's arms, looking at her worriedly.

"Trust me, I can," Daisy said with a reassuring smile, then kissed her father on the cheek.

Daisy turned to her mother, then hugged her as a sign of farewell. yeah, because after this they probably wouldn't see each other for a long time, because maybe Richard would make life difficult for her by not giving her any freedom.

"Daisy, we have to go to your campus now," Richard said, glancing at his watch. "We have to go now," he continued and stood up.

Daisy immediately approached Richard.

Richard took Daisy's hand. "This time, she's only allowed to bring a laptop to complete her tasks while we're in Italy. For other items, my assistant will pick them up later," he said.

"Please don't be so hard on her," Georgina said sadly.

"If you think I'm going to be like that, then I will," said Richard casually, then asked Daisy to leave the house.

Georgina and Bartman could only stay silent with feelings of sadness and worry as their daughter had to go with her husband, who didn't even want her to. This is like a slap for them because they can't give the best for her, but instead give her an inner burden.

"Hopefully he doesn't hurt her," said Georgina in tears.

"We wish her all the best," Bartman said. "Let's see her," he continued, inviting Georgina to come outside.

___

When they got to the car, Daisy sat beside Richard. She put her bag containing the laptop into the back seat, then fastened the seatbelt. After that, she opened the glass window and saw her father and mother waving at her smilingly.

"They overreacting," said Richard.

"They're just worried about me, it's not an exaggeration," said Daisy, still looking at her mom and dad.

Richard was disgusted by this sight. He immediately closed the mirror so that Daisy's parents might see her anymore.

"It's enough!" he said.

Daisy just kept quiet, trying to stay patient even though Richard was like testing her patience.

"Sam, let's go now!" he cried.

"Oh, yes, sir."

The driver named Samuel immediately drove the car away from Bartman's home area. occasionally he glanced up at the mirror above, finding Daisy's reflection in the fund. He could see his employer's wife crying but tried to hide it.

"I wasn't mean to you or your parents," Richard said, glancing at the crying Daisy. Somehow, he felt pity but he also hates.

"But you didn't keep your promise," Daisy whispered, remembering the time she overheard her father arguing with Richard while she was in the room with her mother. "You were indeed at a disadvantage because of Irina's actions... But that was Irina's fault, not my father's. you should not punish him by reducing the funds you will give him when he has already sacrificed me ... That's not fair. I am also his daughter… He is also hard to let go of me just like he accepted the pact when letting go of Irina….he should get what is rightfully his even though I am the one he handed over to you," she continued.

"I don't care!" said Richard curtly. "The loss I got because of Irina, because of your family... It won't make me feel sorry for you even if you cry blood!"

Daisy is just silent.

"They thought I would hurt you, maybe that's true. It's not easy to accept you after what Irina did to me," said Richard, still maintaining his pride. "And when you show sadness in front of me, then I will always hurt you!"

Daisy remained silent, not understanding what Richard thought. She could only surrender, trying to calm down even though the image of her father's and mother's wrinkled faces.
