Order looked at the near array of excel sheets displayed on the sleek grey monitor. Meticulously, he filled in each cell, carefully making sure that the amounts and property values were adding up and made sense. Satisfied that they did, Order smiled and breathed a deep sigh. Pausing to take a sip of coffee, he savored the texture as he set his mug down and sent the excel sheet back to his client. He looked at his watch. 10:00 am. Perfect timing. He smiled as he got up from his chair, exited his cubicle, and walked around the office. Messy cubicles and organized cubicles passed by him as he walked to the window. The sunlight hit his face, and he looked at the streets below as he basked in its warmth. All the people, so small, running around frantically, he always wondered what everyone was doing. It helped remind him that he could relax, and nothing he had to do was so important it couldn't wait. His eyes analyzed the surrounding buildings that reached for the sky. Marvelous. He looked at his watch again. 1013 am. Not perfect timing, but that was good enough.
Order was back at his desk, ensuring that his tasks for the day were on completed and satisfactory to his liking. He checked his email. "Thank you again for your services!" The subject line read. Order smiled and opened the email.
"We really appreciate your hard work figuring out how our house fits in to our net worth!". Order enjoyed the satisfaction of a job well done. Still smiling, he closed his email and began anew.
————————Stasis's day off————————
Stasis smiled as she enjoyed the sunlight warming her. Taking a sip of her mango smoothie and turning to the next page in her book, Stasis let out a satisfied sigh. "This is the life!" She thought to herself.
She glanced up to the waterline to see Flux swimming in the tides. She smiled and went back to her book. A cool breeze washed over the beach, nicely accenting the warm sun. Stasis smiled, she wished to herself that her job would let her go outside more. A figure sprinted towards the beach from the water, jarring her from her thoughts.
"Is that?" She whispered "oh my gosh" she rolled her eyes at what was about to happen. Flux sprinted full tilt from the water, across the beach, people giving him weird looks and all, directly towards her and the umbrella they had set up. She quickly started putting her phone, book, anything not waterproof into her bag, and she just got done setting down her mango smoothie when Flux tackled her with a big wet hug.
"Groooooooooss!" Stasis protested, she actually did feel kinda slimy, she hated that he always insisted on doing this to her on their beach days.
Flux laughed as she squirmed in his arms. "You should come out, the water is great!"
After sliding free, Stasis crinkled her nose and looked at the aftermath. "No I'm good, I think I got enough water just from you" She turned away, crossing her arms
"Stasis, you ok?"
Stasis bit her lip and crossed her arms harder "I'm fine yea"
"Uh I can tell you're not fine"
"Just, shut up, I'm fine" Stasis snapped
Flux scratched the back of his head "uhhh, I'm sorry. What did I do?"
Stasis huffed "do you always have to be a jerk when we do a beach day?"
"I'm sorry, I thought it was funny"
"I don't, and you know I don't like that"
Flux sighed "I'm sorry Stase, I won't do that again then, I wasn't thinking I guess, I just wanted you to come out and have fun with me"
"I was having fun, I was reading my book, it's not fun for me to have you tackle me and get me all gross" Stasis crinkled her nose
Flux looked down sheepishly "gotcha, I'm sorry for going overboard. Are we cool?"
Stasis thought "Yes but I'm still a little mad at you, just give me a few minutes"
"Ok, I'm sorry" Flux started to slowly head back to the water
