The silence that followed Danisa's mother's departure was oppressive. Danisa felt like he was walking through a fog, unable to see or think clearly. His aunt, Aunt Rose, tried to comfort him, but even her warm words couldn't penetrate the darkness that had settled over him.
As the days passed, Danisa began to feel a sense of numbness. He went through the motions of daily life, but everything felt hollow and empty. He missed his mother terribly, and the pain of her absence felt like a physical ache.
One day, Aunt Rose sat Danisa down and had a talk with him. "Danisa, I know this is a tough time for you, but I want you to know that you're not alone," she said. "Your siblings and I are here for you, and we'll get through this together."
Danisa looked up at Aunt Rose, feeling a glimmer of hope. Maybe, just maybe, things would get better. Maybe he could find a way to heal and move forward.
Aunt Rose smiled and put a hand on Danisa's shoulder. "I've been thinking, Danisa. Maybe it's time for you to come live with me for a while. You can go to school in the city, and we can take care of you until your mother gets better."
Danisa's eyes widened in surprise. He hadn't expected this. But as he thought about it, he realized that it might be just what he needed. A fresh start, a new chapter in his life.
"What about Stella and Drew?" Danisa asked, feeling a pang of worry.
Aunt Rose smiled. "Don't worry, Danisa. They'll be fine. They'll stay here with a trusted family friend until your mother gets better. But I think it's best if you come with me. You need a change of scenery, and I can take care of you."
Danisa nodded, feeling a sense of relief wash over him. Maybe this was the start of something new, something better.
