Chapter 1 - Chapter 1 - As a Baby

Paulo's pov

Wow, I died, for real. I guessed I'll be in the other side.

Moments later, I then opened my eyes, only to see two adults being happy at me. Wait a minute, am I supposed to be in the other side? No, it can't be. Is this a dream? Am I being reincarnated to another world?

Back at my previous life, I loved anime, especially isekai ones. I admired their concept of second-chances in another life. I am a kind of person who believes in that.

Now back at this new world and life, I suddenly felt pain, and I cried. Am I a baby or something?

Then, those two adults try to stop me from crying, but I couldn't help but cry more and more. I had no idea what pain am I feeling.

Then, I heard one of them, a male, calling a name of someone. And then, I noticed a young girl, dressed in a white gown and had a brown, long hair, coming to the room in response to the man's call, and she responded, "What is it, papa?"

"Get some medicine for your baby brother's fever," the man told her. "Get some from the box of medicine downstairs.

"Okay, papa," the girl replied back with obedience. She then went off to get some medicine.

I am her baby brother? That man is her father? That makes me a member of this family.

I then looked around, only to see no modern technology in the whole room: no modern appliances, no phones, no nothing. Nothing but a lightbulb hanging on the center of the ceiling and a bunch of bottles and books scattered across the room. I then looked at the woman, who then said these words, "You're our gift."

What is that even mean? Me, a gift? I had questions for that.

Then, moments later, the same girl came back to the room, only to inform her father that someone was looking for him and that woman. I theorized that she was my mother. Then, my father and mother left the room while telling my sister to keep an eye on me. Once they were gone, my older sister started to look at me in guarding. She was positive and happy at me, saying, "Brother."

Okay, this is so weird.

But, that didn't last long because my parents came back to the room, only to grab their weapons and said to my older sister that they'll be going to war, promising that they will come back one day. After that, they left the room, never to be seen again.

I had no idea where did they go.

Then, my older sister came back to me and made a promise that she'll take care of me until my parents come back from the war.

This makes me curious, asking in my mind, "What war? Is this place a medieval one or something?" I know that because back at my previous life, I knew that the medieval period was full of conflicts.

After asking those questions, my older sister sang a lullaby song for me, causing me to close my eyes and fall asleep.

Some time later, I woke up only to see darkness dominating the room, and it was only lightened with that single, lonely lightbulb.

Then, my sister came to the room and said to me, "I'm sorry. I guessed I'll take care of you from now on."

What did she mean by that? My parents are dead or something? Did they die during the war? I had no idea. I guessed I'll find out in the future as I grow up, I guessed.
