Chapter 9 - More Survivors?

As Zeke began his battle against the massive horde of zombies, the group watching from the window was astonished to finally see another living person.

Their jaws dropped in disbelief upon witnessing him initiate the fight, as they believed this young man was courting death.

After communicating with each other, one of them remained at the window to observe Zeke's battle against the horde, while the other departed.

Zeke battled the horde with ease, as his only obstacle was the overwhelming number of zombies, not their individual strength.

He slowly but steadily made his way through the sea of low-level zombies, his fangs and claws tearing through their flesh with ease.

His speed and agility made it possible for him to dodge their attacks while still dealing out deadly blows.

With each zombie he killed, he moved closer to the two shield zombies in the middle of the pack.

As he approached the center of the group, he could see the two shield zombies waiting for him, their shields up in a defensive position.

Zeke knew that he had to take them out quickly, or he would be overwhelmed by the horde. He lunged towards the first shield zombie, his fangs bared, but the zombie was quick and managed to deflect his attack with its shield.

Zeke landed a few blows, but the shield zombie's thick skin and defensive posture made it difficult to cause any real damage.

Meanwhile, the other zombies were closing in on him, swarming around him like a tidal wave.

Zeke was getting pushed back, his movements becoming more and more restricted as the zombies closed in on him.

He tried to fight his way out, but it seemed like an endless sea of undead surrounded him.

The second shield zombie moved in to attack, and Zeke barely managed to dodge its shield.

He was getting tired, and his attacks were becoming weaker.

The shield zombies were wearing him down, and the low-level zombies were closing in, ready to tear him apart.

Zeke knew he had to act fast. He focused his energy, drawing on his vampire powers to give him the strength he needed to take out the shield zombies.

He lashed out with a powerful blow using his bat he pulled out from his ring, managing to break through the shield of the first zombie.

His lips curled back in a snarl as he sank his fangs deep into the zombie's neck. As he finished his gruesome meal, he released his grip and exerted his raw strength, crushing the zombie's head with a brutal squeeze. With one shield zombie down, Zeke shifted his focus to the next.

Rushing forward with lightning speed, he caught the shielded zombie off guard. He deflected the shield from its counterattack and plunged his claws deep into its chest, leaving a gaping hole as he swiftly pulled his arm back.

Zeke then swung his bat and was able to take the second shield zombie's head clean off.

The low-level zombies were still closing in, but Zeke was ready. He used his newfound strength to unleash a powerful wave of energy, sending the zombies flying in all directions.

Finally, after about another half an hour with a roar of triumph, Zeke emerged from the horde of undead, victorious.

Following the grueling fight, Zeke made his way to the library stairs and leaned his back against one of the pillars at the front of the building to rest.

A slight smile could be seen on his face as he looked at the two messages he received while he was fighting the large zombie horde.

He also picked up 2x Common Orbs and 3x Normal Orbs.

Regrettably, upon opening the orbs, he did not receive any uncommon upgrade fragments, but he did acquire 10x normal upgrade fragments. He only required 90 more to merge them into a single uncommon fragment.

The two items he received from the common orbs were a ring that gave a bonus to magic and staff that increased magic as well. Totaling +20 magic combined from the two items.

After thinking for a second, Zeke decided to give both the ring and staff to Olivia. Zeke then went back to resting for a couple of minutes as he just finished a long taxing fight.

Approximately 10 minutes into his rest, he detected movement behind the front doors of the library. It took five minutes for the sounds to subside, and another five minutes for the doors to creak open.

Zeke looked up surprised, "Professor Hank? Is that you? He asked looking at the middle-aged man that came out of the library.

As Professor Hank emerged out of the library doors, his eyes widened at the sight of the destruction that lay before him. The air was thick with the stench of death and decay, and the remnants of the zombie horde littered across the remnants of the battlefield.

His gaze then fell upon a towering figure with short black hair, who stood amidst the chaos with an air of quiet strength. The professor's jaw clenched, his eyes flickering with a mix of emotions: fear, shock, amazement, and disbelief, all jumbled together as he started to laugh as he found this feat impossible yet he just witnessed it.

Finally pulling himself together and gaining composure Professor Hank looked at the young man more closely and his jaw dropped. Shocked he asked. "Zeke, is that you? Is that really you?" He continued to ask as the young man closely resembled a freshman that was in the Calculus III class he taught.

For a brief second, Zeke thought his calculus III professor was going crazy, but remembering all the events that happened recently and the battle he just fought quickly pushed that thought to the back of his head.

"Hello Professor Hank, sorry I didn't make it to your class this morning. I have been pretty busy since yesterday." Zeke joked, laughing he continued. "I saw a few more people in the windows before I started fighting. How many people are inside the building?"
