Chapter 12 - New Adventure

With his Fang perched on his shoulder, Zeke set out with Olivia from the USC campus, heading south towards the SoFi Stadium.

Their first task was to find a car that would make their journey easier. They searched through several vehicles, but unfortunately, none of them seemed to start no matter how many times they tried.

After realizing that searching for a car was futile, they decided to abandon the idea altogether. Their decision was reinforced as they scouted several streets and discovered the extent of the damage caused by fallen buildings, piles of cars, and large groups of zombies that had amassed, resulting in numerous roadblocks.

They began to sense that their journey was going to be far more treacherous than they had initially anticipated.

As they navigated the streets of Los Angeles, they encountered numerous groups of zombies, some small and quickly dispatched, while others were massive hordes that they had to avoid at all costs.

Zeke and Olivia made an excellent team, utilizing their unique abilities to work seamlessly together. They were pleasantly surprised to find that Fang, with his razor-sharp teeth and claws, was an invaluable asset to the group, quietly and efficiently eliminating any zombies that crossed their path.

Upon observing the situation several times, Zeke noticed that the majority of the zombies seemed to be ignoring Fang. After careful consideration, he deduced that it might be due to Fang's size and speed, making him a difficult target for the zombies.

As they pressed on with their journey, it became apparent that the streets were no longer a safe option, as they were flooded with zombies. Furthermore, the extensive damage and numerous roadblocks made navigation difficult and inefficient.

Their eyes locked onto a massive building in the distance, and they decided to scale it to gain a better vantage point.

Although it was a risky decision due to the possibility of encountering zombies inside, they decided to scale it in order to obtain a better view.

Scaling the building would allow them to devise a strategy for their next move, and avoid the large number of zombies that were dispersed throughout the city.

Zeke and Olivia worked together to climb the building, using the fire escape and ledges to make their way as far up as possible.

Despite their best efforts, they found themselves at an impasse. The door leading to the rooftop was locked and they were hesitant to make too much noise by breaking it down, knowing it could attract the hordes of zombies within the building. They were stuck, unsure of what to do next.

Zeke observed a partially open window on the side of the building, but it was too small for him and Olivia to fit through.

Feeling stuck and unable to come up with any other solutions, he searched for other options. However, his gaze kept returning to the slightly open window, and suddenly an idea struck him.

He remembered he could communicate to an extent and convey his thoughts to Fang asked for his help. He turned to the baby saber-tooth tiger and communicated his thoughts, asking if Fang could fit through the window and unlock the door from the inside.

Zeke watched as Fang squeezed himself through the narrow opening of the window. With his tiny body, he was just barely to make it through, Fang worked his way through the various obstacles. Once he made it to the room with the locked door, Zeke could hear him scurrying around the room, trying to find the lock on the door.

After a few tense minutes, Fang was finally able to locate the lock. Using his paws, he began to tamper with the lock, trying to get it to open. Zeke and Olivia sat idly by with bated breath as they hoped Fang would be able to unlock the door.

Finally, after what seemed like an eternity, there was a satisfying click as the lock gave way. Zeke and Olivia breathed a sigh of relief as Fang pushed the door open, allowing them to enter the rooftop.

As they stepped out onto the roof, Zeke patted Fang on the head, grateful for his new friend's help. Together, they looked out at the breathtaking view of the now-destroyed city.

Upon arrival, they scanned the surroundings, witnessing the destruction and pandemonium that enveloped them. Though they couldn't make out the SoFi Stadium in the distance, they were aware that it wasn't too far away, and they recognized that they would have to maneuver through the damaged landscapes to reach it.

As they looked out over the city, Zeke and Olivia saw that there were still many obstacles ahead. But Zeke was determined to reach this new destination and find a safe haven in this new, dangerous world. And Olivia was just worried hoping that her family was still alive.

After scouting the area from the top of the skyscraper, they decided to eat a quick lunch then they make their way down and continue south. They carefully made their way through a few blocks, staying alert for any danger, when suddenly they heard a groaning noise coming from around the corner.

Peeking around the corner, they saw a massive horde of zombies heading in their direction. Zeke and Olivia quickly hid behind a nearby car, trying to come up with a plan to escape. But it was too late, the zombies had already seen them.

Zeke quickly assessed their situation and realized that they had to act fast. He looked around for any possible escape routes, but it seemed that they had backed themselves into a corner. The horde of zombies was closing in on them quickly, and Zeke knew that they had to act fast.

"Over there!" Zeke shouted, pointing towards a nearby building. Fang lead the way, clearing the path of any zombies with his powerful jaws. Zeke and Olivia followed close behind, their weapons at the ready.

As they made their way through the building, they encountered more and more zombies, but Zeke and Olivia were able to take them down quickly. They fought their way through the building until they finally emerged on the other side.

Stepping out onto the fire escape, they peered down at the ground below, knowing there was no other way down. With a deep breath, Zeke leaped, landing with a loud thud that left a deep spiderweb imprint on the ground. He quickly got to his feet and signaled for Olivia to follow suit.

Olivia hesitated for a moment, but then she too took a deep breath and jumped. Zeke caught her easily, and together they made their way to safety.

"That was close," Zeke said, his heart still pounding from the adrenaline rush. "But we made it out alive."

Olivia nodded, her eyes shining with relief. "Thank you for catching me," she said, her voice soft.

As night was quickly approaching, Zeke and Olivia knew that they had to find somewhere to rest. They had been on the move all day, fighting off zombies and trying to make their way through the ruined city. They were exhausted, hungry, and in need of some rest.

They spotted a two-story building that looked empty, and they quickly made their way inside. The building was dark and quiet, and they cautiously made their way up to the second floor. Oddly there were no zombies inside.

Once he made sure it was clear Zeke took out his bed from the storage ring and set it up in a corner of the room.

Once the bed was set up, Zeke turned to Olivia looking at him awkwardly. Suddenly, he realized that he only had one bed and scratched his head, thinking for a moment. "It's okay, you can take the bed, I'll sleep on the floor," Zeke offered, not wanting things to be awkward between them. He felt bad for not having a second bed.

Olivia politely declined and said, "No, it's your bed. Besides, I'm just impressed you had the foresight to bring a bed with you." She chuckled a bit, finding the situation amusing.

After contemplating for a moment, Zeke offered to share the bed, causing Olivia to blush slightly before slowly nodding her head in agreement.
