Chapter 6 - 5. The Church's Legend

In the night in a forest a human-like figure is running through the forest at inhuman speeds. He has blood red eyes and fangs signifying that it's a Vampire as it runs through the forest. Not far behind many more humanoid beings were running after him. They wore cloaks and have crosses hanging from their necks showing that they are part of the Church. Among them, the one in the middle is faster than the other as he seems to be short compared to the rest.

The Vampire looked behind him to find the priest in the middle coming towards him which caused him to grit his teeth. He then took out a test tube from his dress before emptying its contents on the ground which caused a great amount of smoke to appear from it as it covered the priests.

'That should slow them down.' The Vampire thought as he ran.

However one lone priest, the shortest out of the group shot out of the smoke straight towards the Vampire causing him to look at him shocked. Then the priest sported teal coloured lines on his arms and legs causing the Vampire to widen his eyes.

'He has magic circuits! And that height! Don't tell me it's him!' The Vampire thought in alarm before he ran away.

The priest following behind as he rocketed towards the fleeing Vampire. The priest removed his hood showing that it is Kirei who is following the Vampire, having long gone out of the field of vision of his fellow priests he used the opportunity to use his magic circuits.

He took out two guns which he cocked before increasing his speed as he ran after the Vampire. After he was sure he is close enough he shot the bullets at the Vampire. The Vampire managed to dodge some but two bullets hit his right leg destroying his balance.

But that was the only opportunity Kirei needed for him to unload the rest of the shots into the Vampire's legs, making the unusual to it. The vampire screamed in pain when he felt the bullets and tumbled to the ground with Kirei stopping not too far away from him. The boy visibly having grown as now he is a 12 year old as he looked at the Vampire.

"N-No. I can't die here.." The Vampire said as he held his legs which were bleeding.

Then he heard the sounds of footsteps and looked ahead and saw Kirei walking towards him. The boy placed the guns back and then took out 3 Black Keys from the robe. But unlike the usual Black Keys they were half it's length and the handguard was also much smaller. Kirei wanted weapons which were easier to store and take out which caused him to request a custom Black Keys for himself.

The Vampire's eyes widened when he saw the boy. However, his full attention was at his eyes, while the boy did have an apathetic face his eyes were a different story. At first the Vampire saw nothing but darkness and apathy inside it. But as the boy is walking to him he could see a change in it, as if the boy was enjoying the misery that he is currently going through.

'No. I can't die here. I even sacrificed my human body to get this power and continue my research. How could a human child defeat a Vampire!?' The Vampire thought to himself in fear.

"H-Hey wait, give me a chance, I won't kill humans so frivolously, I'll keep to myself and won't harm innocents." The Vampire pleaded to him.

Kirei didn't say anything as his face stayed the same.

"I'll change, I'm serious. Come on! You're a priest aren't you?! Didn't they teach you in the Church to forgive others for their sins!?" The Vampire said to him.

Kirei looked at the man when he heard that before a smile appeared on his face. It was a smile of enjoyment, something which caused the Vampire to widen his eyes as he realised something.

'H-He is enjoying this! My suffering! He is enjoying the suffering he is making me go through! Why would a child of his age even find this enjoyable!? He is a psychopath! There's no other explanation!' The Vampire thought to himself frantically as Kirei got ready with the Keys in his right hand.

"You are correct, God teaches us to forgive others." Kirei said to him.

The Vampire's eyes lit up a bit when he heard that.

"It is God's duty to forgive the sin's of others. While it is my duty to send them to HIM." Kirei said as he got ready to through.

The Vampire's hope was immediately shattered when he heard that as his eyes widened. And then before he could say anything the Black Keys pierced his head as he roared in pain as the other priest's reached them. But they could only watch as the Vampire crumbled to dust.

Kirei retrieved his Black Keys before turning to the other Executors. He nodded to them as he nodded back before they went on their way as Kirei checked his Keys.

Time skip

"So the child has killed yet another Vampire?" The Cardinal asked a priest.

"Yes Cardinal, another heretic was killed by him not too long ago." The priest said to him.

The Cardinal hummed with a smile when he heard that as he looked at the huge cross on the wall.

"To think that in just two years since his inception as an Executor he would become such a top class individual." The Cardinal said out loud.

"He has become a sort of legend among the people of the Church who know the truth, and from what I have heard the magus have also become wary of him due to the amount of magus and Vampire's he had managed to kill." The priest said to him.

"I suppose, though it isn't a surprise considering what the child has been doing. He truly is Kirei's son, the first and only Executor in the history of the Church to kill a nightkin at the age of 10. He truly is an exceptional child." The Cardinal said with a smile.

"It also appears that Risei is quiet happy with how his son is doing the work of the Lord as he is quite happy about it and always has a smile on his face whenever he hears about it." The priest said to him.

"That is of no surprise, as an ardent believer and follower of the Lord, to hear that his child is doing the work of God is something that gives immense happiness to him." The Cardinal said with a smile.

"That is correct. However, there is a problem..." The priest said hesitantly as the Cardinal sighed.

"With how many Vampire's he has been killing he must've come under the attention of the powerful Vampire's. Is that what you wanted to say?" The Cardinal asked the priest.

"Yes Cardinal, I do not know if the boy will be targeted due to his abilities as the Vampire's might find interest in his abilities. It would be more troublesome if..." The priest said trailing off.

"The Dead Apostle Ancestors were to come after him. Then it will be quite a problem as the Church might have to use everything we have to stop them." The Cardinal said to him.

"It is as you say Cardinal. How should we proceed with the boy?" The priest asked him.

"Teach him a few more prayers, powerful one's like the Kyrie Eleison to help him." The Cardinal said to him.

"As you say Cardinal." The priest said as he walked away and opened the door to leave.

But before he left he looked at the Cardinal.

"Cardinal, I have one more question." The priest said to him.

"What is it?" The Cardinal asked him.

"If by any chance the boy is turned into a Dead Apostle by the Ancestors, what shall we do?" The priest asked him.

"Then we hope that God will give us HIS aid." The Cardinal said as he rubbed his cross.

"I see. Thank you for answering Cardinal." The priest said as he left the place.

The Cardinal stayed in silence as he looked at the large painted glass which was being illuminated by the light of the Sun.

"Oh God, what do you have planned for the child?" The Cardinal said out loud without any answer.
