Chapter 33 - On the rooftop. Again.

"So you were here, Sayna"

I spoke to her standing against the fence in the rooftop. When I first saw her from back I was half scared that she'd jump down or something, but she seemed as expressionless ever. Well, after all this time, she's not gonna kill herself here…

"Yeah…"

That really startled me, because it was the first time she spoke since she moved to our home. But I quickly calmed down as I didn't want to turn it into a big deal and frighten her again.

"The class kids are a bit noisy, eh?"

"Yeah…"

"Have you eaten lunch?"

"No"

"Well, if you don't eat your lunch box that's what you get for dinner"

I said half jokingly but Sayna didn't seem to find it funny. So I just zipped my mouth and stood next to her without saying anything. Funny that we sleep together every night yet this is the first time we speak in so long, and I'm going on about lunch box…

"Hey"

Oh? She's speaking up now?

"Yeah?"

"Could you stop making spam and eggs. I hate them"

Pffft… I held myself back from laughing and she gave me a mean look. Now things are getting better. She's not expressionless anymore.

"What's up with you and Shu?"

"What do you mean?"

"I didn't know you guys were living together"

"And you came anyway?"

"I had nowhere else to go"

"Well, you were, and still are welcome"

"You guys going out?"

"Where-… what?!"

"Shu likes you"

Hold up right there, girl.

"I don't know what you are thinking, but I think you are getting things a bit wrong there"

"Sorry, I thought there was something between you two"

"We not like that man"

"What is he to you then?"

"A frie-.. Hm… like a little brother? A… child?"

I realised it was actually very hard to say clearly what Shu was like to me. The simplest way would be to say he's a friend, but calling him a friend just didn't sit quite right to me. Maybe he's like my family now?

"What am I to you?"

That really stumped me. Friends don't sleep together every night right? But calling her a sister or a child would also be extremely awkward so that was out of question.

"…I don't know to be honest"

"I see"

…. Did I give a wrong answer?

"You are the worst"

Sayna left me confused back there and walked off.
