Chapter 4 - Chapter 4: Forbidden Desires

As Damian disappeared before her eyes, Luna found herself at a loss for words. Conflicting emotions swirled inside her - confusion, anger, and something else that she couldn't quite put her finger on.

She couldn't shake the feeling that there was something different about Damian, something that set him apart from other vampires.

She looked down at her wound, which was already starting to heal, thanks to her werewolf powers. But the pain was still there, a constant reminder of the danger she was in.

Luna stood up, her wound almost fully healed, but she couldn't shake the feeling that something had changed within her. The blood bond that Damian had mentioned had left a mark on her, and she wasn't sure if she would ever be the same again.

She couldn't believe what had just happened. She had been so close to killing Damian, and now she was left with more questions than answers.

Jacob growled softly, sensing her unease. He felt he could have protected her more, but he wasn't able to.

Luna shook her head, trying to clear her thoughts. She had a mission to complete, and she couldn't let her attraction to a vampire get in the way of her duty.

But as she made her way back to her pack's camp, her mind kept drifting back to Damian. She couldn't deny that there was something about him that drew her in, something that made her want to know more about him.

As she approached the camp, Luna could hear the chatter of her packmates. They were excited to hear about her encounter with the vampire, eager to hear about the battle that had taken place.

But Luna kept her eyes down, unable to meet their gaze. She knew that she had failed in her mission, that she had let her emotions cloud her judgment.

"We encountered Damian and Isabella," she heard one of the werewolves that went with them say.. "They escaped, but we need to be prepared for their next move."

Luna sat on her bed, replaying the encounter with Damian in her mind. She remembered his arrogance and the way he had talked to her.

But she also remembered how he had looked at her with intense, green eyes and how his presence had sent shivers down her spine.

She could picture those eyes clearly in her mind, like pools of emerald set in his angular, chiseled face.

His features were sharp and defined, with high cheekbones and a strong jawline that spoke of dominance and power.

His hair was jet black and fell in tousled waves around his face, giving him a slightly dangerous and mysterious air.

Luna couldn't help but notice his broad shoulders and muscular physique, which were clearly visible with him shirtless. He moved with a fluid grace that spoke of confidence and experience, and she couldn't help but feel drawn to him, despite her reservations.

But there was something else about him, something that Luna couldn't quite put her finger on it, but she knew that there was more to him than met the eye.

Luna shook her head, trying to dispel the confusing thoughts. She needed to focus on her duties, on her mission. She had to put down Damian before he causes any more harm.

But her mind kept drifting back to Damian. She had never felt so alive and vulnerable at the same time. She couldn't shake off the feeling.

'Was Damian her mate?' She suddenly found herself asking.

She had learnt from her mom and friends how they met their mate for the first time and how they could tell that was their mate almost immediately.

'And what was that blood bond Damian mentioned all about?' She asked no one in particular.

She couldn't ignore the intense connection she felt with him, something she had never experienced before. Was it really possible that he was her mate?

But how could that be possible? He was a vampire, a creature that her kind had been taught to fear and avoid at all costs.

She stood up and walked to her window, looking out at the night sky. The moon was high, casting a silvery glow over the trees and the pack house.

The familiar smells of the forest, the sound of the night creatures, and the cool breeze on her skin all helped to calm her mind.

Luna took a deep breath and closed her eyes. She needed to think about what she wanted and what was best for her pack. She couldn't let her emotions cloud her judgment.

She opened her eyes and let out a groan. She couldn't deny the fact that she felt a strong pull towards Damian, but she wasn't sure if she was ready to accept him as her mate.

Suddenly, she felt a sharp pain in her chest, as if something was trying to claw its way out. She clutched her chest and closed her eyes, trying to fight off the pain. When she opened her eyes, she saw a vision of Damian standing in front of her, his eyes blazing with intensity.

Luna gasped and opened her eyes, feeling disoriented. She knew that she had to come to terms with her feelings, but she wasn't sure if she was ready for what lay ahead. One thing was certain, however. Her life would never be the same again.

Unable to get a hold on her scattered feelings, she decided to go for a run in the forest to clear her mind. The cool breeze hit her face as she ran, and she felt a sense of freedom and release that she had not experienced in a long time.

As she ran, Luna's thoughts drifted back to Damian. She couldn't help but feel drawn to him, despite the fact that he was a vampire and their kind had been sworn enemies for centuries.

The thought of being attracted to a vampire made her feel conflicted, but at the same time, there was something about Damian that she found irresistible.

Lost in thought, Luna didn't even realize that she had gone deeper into the forest than she intended. Suddenly, she heard the sound of twigs snapping underfoot and she turned around to see Jacob standing behind her.

"Hey, Luna. You okay?" Jacob asked, concern etched on his face.

Luna nodded, taking a deep breath. "Yeah, I just needed to clear my head. What about you? What are you doing out here?"

Jacob gave her a small smile. "Nothing, enjoying the night."

"That's new," Luna chuckled. "Lone wolf and vampire hunter Jacob enjoying the night."

And then Jacob instead of replying asked the question Luna was hoping he wouldn't ask, about her encounter with Damian.

"What happened back then? I mean with Damian. You aren't one to be easily defeated."

"I wasn't defeated," She answered almost immediately. "Only lost my focus for a while and was caught unaware. That's all."

Jacob knew better than to press the matter forward so he stopped in his tracks and held Luna by her shoulders.

"Just remember, you're not alone. We're all here for you."

He said and pulled her in for a hug.

Luna felt a pang of guilt for not telling Jacob everything about her encounter with Damian, but she knew that she couldn't share that information with anyone, at least not yet.

"Thanks, Jacob. I appreciate it," Luna said, giving him a small smile as she hugged him back.

As they walked back to the pack house together, Luna was able to forget about Damian. At least for that moment. Jacob and his stories about their childhood was the distraction she needed to keep her mind straight.
