Chapter 3 - Chapter 2: Encounter

--The next day--

In my bedroom, I was busy braiding my hair while I sat there, pondering what my dream meant last night. No matter, how much I thought about it, I still couldn't see the connection between me and the two people in my dream. I was a mere commoner living my days off in a secluded village near the forest of Windsor, a forest inhabited by treacherous beings I dare not think of. Because of this the village was often visited by young adventurers and heroes who wish level up. There are also alchemists that collect the carcasses of the slain creatures for experimenting and merchants who trades goods in exchange of the said carcasses for their products. The Village Chief never stopped them because it was good for the villagers and the village's welfare, seeing that we live in the outskirts of the kingdom.

The kingdom that the village resides in is one of the human kingdoms, Goldenrod Empire in the west, and is known for its abundance of mythical creatures, as well as it is where several hunters and adventurers are produced, like the {Dragon Hunter} which is why it is known as the {Hunting Ground}. The other kingdoms are the Eagle Owl Empire in the north; known for having bountiful knowledge earning it the name {Haven of Knowledge}, the White Feather Empire in the south; recognized for the their love and expertise in the field of arts obtaining the title {Sanctuary of the Fine Arts}, and lastly the Armonia Empire in the east; distinguished for its open-minded culture having different traditions and beliefs and are less discriminating compared to the three other human kingdoms. There are other kingdoms of other races, however they are looked down upon by the human race, garnering hostility towards the other races, especially the {Lunaria Empire} the largest dragon empire in the continent of Mystiriodis.

As I was thinking deeply about last night, mother nudged me and said "Hestia, breakfast is ready. What are you thinking so intently that you couldn't hear me earlier?"

"Ah! Really? Um sorry, its just that...the moon! was really beautiful last night...." I awkwardly said. In truth, I didn't even notice my mother entering. I didn't tell my mother because I didn't want to worry her.

"If that's the case then alright, just come down already and eat breakfast. I want you to go to the field and give your father his meal." mother said as she walked over the door. I smiled and followed suit, greeting my dear sister, Chiyo, once we entered the dining room.

Once we finished eating, I wore my boots and took the basket carrying my father's meal. As I was going out the door, Chiyo suddenly grabbed me behind and shouted, "I wanna go with Sister Hestia!!!"

"E-eh..Chiyo you now that mom wouldn't let you right?" I said trying to appease her, "Mom and dad are just making sure that you're safe remember?" I then recalled the incident when people found out that Chiyo had a high affinity of Nature Magic. People started to look at her differently as if she was some jackpot that would give them lots of gold. Since then our parents isolated Chiyo from the villagers. And because of this our family garnered the disapproval of the villagers but my parents didn't care. As long as we're safe they're fine with it.

"But! What about you! Why do you get to go out?" Chiyo asked frowning her little forehead a little.

I smiled weakly at that. "That's because I am strong! One look at me and they won't even dare talk back!" I said as I flexed my arms, in which she giggled at that.

"Alright, I thinks that enough chit-chat. Your father is probably starving right now." our mom interrupted as she pointed on the basket I'm holding.

"Whoops! Almost forgot about that, gotta go Chiyo. We'll hang out later. Bye Mom!" I said as I exit the door.

--In the streets--

As I went my way to the field where my father works, I felt a pair of eyes watching me, not the type that people use as they glance by, but the type where they are intently gazing upon you with malice. I whipped my head around only to see people passing by.

"Hm...Strange." I muttered to myself. I then continued my walk towards the field.

"Hestia!!!" my father beamed as he ran up to me. I then found myself in my father's tight embrace. Urgh..so sweaty.

"Haha, Fabian are you planning to squeeze your daughter to death." a colleague of father's laughed.

Dad's beaming face then turned into a horrified look and hastily let go of me. He then apologized to me, "I'm sorry, I'm sorry, daddy didn't mean to hurt you, don't be mad at me".

Seeing my chance, I then demanded in a teasing tone, "Fine~,but you better spend time with me and Chiyo. You always go out to work that you barely bond with your adorable daughters. This is one of the rare moments I get to see you".

"Heheh, really? I'm sorry, I'll definitely make it up to you." dad replied guiltyly.

I beamed and hugged my dad. We then sat underneath a tree nearby and talked a tad bit. Unfortunately dad had to resume his work once he finished eating his meal. Really dad? Regardless, I said my goodbyes to my dad as I reluctantly headed back to our home.

On my way back, I used the path near the forest, taking in the nature's beauty before my eyes. Well yeah it's dangerous, but it's a longer path and I wanted to stay out a little longer. Reckless, I know, but what could get wrong? However moments later, I realized how stupid I was to walk this path. Because I encountered something very unprecedented. It was a vampire.

*Gulp, is this the end for me? NO! Noo!! I'm to young to die yet~~!!!
