Chapter 3 - The system!

Bang!

The barrier shuddered fiercely as it defended against the sea of flames! Soon, the crimson flames subsided and dispersed as the pink barrier gradually faded away. Seeing the barrier that suddenly appeared Caden clicked his tongue.

"Tch, why are you getting in the way?" Caden turned and asked.

Standing a few meters away was a young girl with long black hair with strands of pink mixed in. She had beautiful almond shaped eyes, her pupils were a deep golden colour, her lips were rosy, red. It shone with a faint lustre of her lip-gloss. And she had small, chiselled nose. She wore a dark blue blazer and short black skirt of the academy.

Her skin was as white as snow, and her body was well proportionate.

Eliana Collins, 17 Years old and currently the school president. She is the heir to one of the five great families that was responsible for defending against the other races that threatened humanity.

Her entire family specialized in the manipulation of energy. As they had considerable control over the natural energies of the world.

"Hmph, stop interfering, you say? Don't you think you are taking your bad jokes too far?" She asked with a derisive sneer. "Th-This has nothing to do with you!"

"Maybe so, but... I can't turn a blind eye to someone who is being bullied while I'm around. Caden you are also from one of the five great families, instead of using your powers to pick on the weak shouldn't you be guiding them instead?" Eliana narrowed her golden eyes as she asked.

Caden frowned as he was unable to come up with a reasonable excuse. While the egoist side of him wanted nothing more than to vent and curse, he knew it was foolish to start conflict with any of the major families, as that could potentially start a war between their respective families.

"You should relax, I was only training him." Caden said with a small shrug of his shoulder. "... Training him." Eliana glanced at Carson whose hand had bruises as she narrowed her eyes slightly.

"You were training someone who can't even fight back?" A look of disgust appeared on Eliana's face as she said that. "I don't get why your overreacting, he chose to attend this school, didn't he? Which means as a student, he is also obligated to participate in training like everyone else, no?"

"Well then, shall you train with me instead?" Her deep golden eyes took on a pink hue as energy started to radiate from her body. Caden furrowed his brow at that. He wasn't willing to fight someone as strong as Eliana so, he instantly backed away.

"... Okay, I agree I went too far. Are you satisfied now?" Caden sneered as he left dissatisfied. The other two boys behind him also followed along while glaring at Carson scornfully. After they left Eliana went towards Carson and extended her hand to him. "Are you okay?" She inquired.

Carson's eyes widen as he saw her face close to him. His cheeks couldn't help but heat up as he smelled the fragrance of her body.

"Oh, uhm... Yes, I am fine." He said as he took her hand. "Ugh." His face grimaced as he got to his feet. Seeing him in that condition Eliana couldn't help but frown. "... Carson." She called out. "Y-Yes?"

"Maybe it would be better for you to drop out of this school. The bullying here is just going to keep getting worst, and I may not always be able to help you." Eliana said, a bit bitterly. "..." Carson remains silent after hearing that.

Indeed, what she said was true, at this point it would be a miracle if Caden and his lackeys doesn't end up seriously injuring him. But still...

"No! I'll stay here and graduate. I appreciate your concern, but I can't leave now, not when I had to endure all of that already. Even if I end up going to the hospital I'll persevere until the end." Carson said in a serious tone.

Besides even if he were to attend another school who could guarantee that he wouldn't be treated the same way? He was of course, he was the only unevolved human that currently exists. At least so far there hasn't been anyone in the same condition as him.

Seeing the determination in his light blue eyes Eliana could only heaved a sigh, "I see... I deeply admire your tenacity. Well then, will you accompany me towards the nurse office? We should get you healed up; don't you think?"

"Ah, right!" Carson said as he took her hand. The two walked through the narrowed corridor still brimming with the liveliness of the students.

The two arrived at the nurse's office mere minutes.

Eliana knocked twice onto the door connecting to the nurse's office and waited. The door then opened up with a small creak as a beautiful young black-haired women dressed in a white coat appeared.

"Oh, if it isn't lady Eliana, what brings you here?" She inquired with a faint smile. "Good day, miss Amy. I'm not the one who needs medical." Eliana smiled faintly and stepped to the side revealing Carson who was behind her.

"Eh, Carson you are here too?" The woman who goes by the name Amy widens her eyes in a show of surprise at that, but when she saw the condition Carson was in her expression became stern as she said, "Bring him inside." And turned her back as she went inside the room.

Carson sat on one of the empty beds inside the room and held Amy's hand. Her expression became serious as she concentrated on the magical energy flowing through her body. Soon, Carson felt a strange sensation throughout his body as a faint green glow envelop his hand healing his injuries.

In less than a minute. His hand which was covered with light scratches healed completely. Seeing that Amy sighed as she wipes the sweats from her brow using a towel.

Using mana to heal injuries took up a great deal of energy, even if it's just some light wounds. Eliana had already left some time ago leaving only Carson and Amy inside the medical room. "... That should do it. Your hands are completely healed, but I suggest that you don't do anything too strenuous with it for a while." She said, her beautiful face contorting into a stern frown.

"... I see." Carson furrowed his brow a bit displeased by that. 'How am I supposed to do training if I can't use my hand?' He still had three more classes today, if he missed one then his report wasn't going to be good.

'I already promised my parents I would graduate here on my own, if I can't keep my word then...' A look of disappointment shone in his light blue eyes. Although Amy wasn't able to see his expression due to his black hair that partially covered his face, she naturally notices the gloomy air around him.

"Carson, you shouldn't feel bad. Honestly, I can't help but admire you." She suddenly said.

"You don't have to console me; I know I'm pathetic." Carson said, lowering his head. Despite how strong his parents were he was the only one who haven't been able to evolve since the world underwent its evolution.

Doesn't that mean he wasn't special unlike everyone else, he was destined to only watch as those around him grew more powerful as they evolved further while he could only admire them from the side for the rest of his meagre life.

Amy was trying to cheer him up but all she did was make him more depressed. Seeing that a look of panic appeared on her face as she tried to say something.

Buzzz~

The sound of her mobile cell phone began to ring. "Ah?" She let out a surprise sound from the sudden vibration. "... Please give me a moment I need to take this." She said before she stepped out of the room, closing the door behind her.

Carson laid on his back and stared at the ceiling with a blank look on his face, his expression was unreadable. At this moment multiple thoughts were running through his head.

However, unbeknownst to him from a small crack in the room wall a small spider slowly crawled out and was currently making its way towards his leg. "Ugh." Carson groan as he opens and close his hand. Although his wounds had all healed up his hand still felt a bit numb.

"As expected, I really can't continue training today, or even tomorrow." Carson sighed. His hatred towards Caden was gradually seeping as he thought back to what happened before.

Soon, the spider had already arrived on top of the bed sheets and was only inches away from making contact with Carson's hand which was the only area where his skin was exposed.

Carson then took out his mobile phone and notice he had two missed calls from his mother. Since he always kept his phone on silent to ignore all annoying notifications he didn't realize when she had called him.

"Four hours ago, I'm sure she must be fuming." A bitter smile appeared on his face but, before he could press call something unexpected happened!

"Argh!" Carson groan in pain as the mutated spider bit his hand.

Without thinking Carson used his hand and squash the spider killing it in an instant.

However, his breathing quickens and sweat slid from his brow as his skin began to heat up, as though he was having a bad fever.

"Argh, th-that spider was a poisonous black spider? Shit!" Carson writhed as the poison gradually spread throughout his body.

Not all insects grew in size after coming in contact with mana, some kept their regular size, but their poison became more lethal and deadly.

While the body of an "Evolved human" Maybe able to endure the poison to some extent that naturally isn't the case to Carson who had the body of an unevolved human. The first thing that came to his mind was to call Amy, who was currently standing outside on the phone.

However, no matter how many times he tried his voice didn't get through.

The door seems to be built soundproof as even with his irregular breathing and yelling she didn't notice what was happening.

"I... Am I going to d-die?" His vision became blurry, and his gaze became unfocused.

[Warning: Host consciousness is fading!]

'Wh-What was that?' He wondered through his cloudy mind.

[Notice: Decrease in heart rate!]

The mysterious voice spoke again.

[Notice: Blood pressure rising to dangerous degrees!]

"Wh-who... Are you?" He asked with difficulty.

[Notice: Poisonous substance found in bloodstream!]

[Calculating probability of death!]

[Calculations completed.]

The voice spoke in a monotonous tone.

[Chances of death 99%]

Carson's pupils dilated as his vision became filled with darkness.

[Notice: Host has met the needed requirements!]

[Notice: System will start the process of body reconstruction!]

[1... 10... 30... 80... 99.]

[Process completed!]

[Ding!]

[Congratulations! You have been chosen as the next inheritor of the previous master's legacy!]

[Will you accept? (Yes/No)]

'Who are you?' Is all he could say, it was strange even though he was unconscious he could still feel everything although he couldn't see his surroundings.

[Warning: State your answer, the Host body could die at any moment.]

'I... I don't know who you are or, what Is happening to me but... will I live if I accept?' He inquired.

[The probability is 100%]

'In that case... I choose yes, I accept!'

[Good answer. From this day, you are my chosen master. As the incarnation of the God of chaos vessel... Please treat me well from now on, master!]
