Chereads / The last prince of Darth / Chapter 10 - Tartarus

Chapter 10 - Tartarus

We made a unanimous decision to make our way out of the giant wormhole as subtly as possible. Escaping from a thirty foot deep hole, it felt more like a magic trick than a possibility. Of course there was always the option of waiting for help which I had fortunately called prior to the incident, thank protocols. Noone was a fan of this plan so escape plan it was.

We wandered into a lighter tunnel that seemed to be going upwards to the surface. Hope filled our hearts as our altitude rose with every step, but every silver lining has a dark cloud and ours had caught our scent. The mother Indus woke up from her peaceful slumber and gosh how she loved to make an entrance.

Something wasn't right, by now the senior adventures should have come to our aid, these thoughts ran circles in my already overloaded mind. The great worm towered over us uprooting the trees as it rose, from its huge eyes it was hard to tell if the thing could even see us. One near miss of her venom and I was convinced we were her target, the thing clearly had a grudge and negotiations were not on the table. In the blink of an eye the Indus worm's jaws were biting into the ground we had previously been standing on thankfully we had dodged just in time. The old hag was awful fast for it's size. At the rate things were progressing we didn't have much time or ground left.

"Crap, " I sighed, "I guess it's time. "

My trump card, I hadn't mastered it yet but now seemed to be the perfect opportunity for a test run, the power-up I got from the first seal breaking may as well have been our only hope.

Focusing deeply I breathed, "First seal, way of the sandstorm. "

*Rekab pov*

I knew clear and well that none of my attacks were going to do anything significant to the worm. Hope slowly slipped from within me as despair swiftly filled it's place. This peculiar boy though, this Darther still had the same look I saw when I first met him, the look of a predator, no worse, the look of an ambitious man. Like magic hope and inspiration began to bubble once more within me and soon I found myself clasping my bow with an arrow aimed at the giant worm. They didn't do much harm, my arrows, but they would definitely buy him time to load his spell. As I shot the creature in the eye it grew mad and dove at Gene, "No, " I screamed as more and more of his body disappeared into the huge mouth of the Indus worm. My heavy eyes slowly began to shut as gloomy despair encompassed me.

In a blurry a huge chunk of the worm's jaw was blown away and out came a different person from the character we had gotten used to. His body was the same but his hair had changed from black to a dark brown color, not saying it didn't fit him, it was just the worst situation for a hair -do. The biggest detail was the sand swirling around him in a calm but fast pattern, it was almost as if a beast inside him had been revived.

The fight didn't even take that long and by the time that help came, it was the worm that needed rescuing.

*Gene pov*

Had it not been for Rekab's shouting I would have pulverised the worm which was now mauled beyond recognition.

"Stop Gene, someone is here to help, you don't have to keep fighting." Rekab motioned to the shadowy figure which appeared at the entrance. Her hands wrapped around mine and I found my inner storm subsiding, all the anger returning back inside and the sand storm calmly dying down. The fatigue hit me and I could barely walk as she led me by hand to the entrance.

"Hey I'm here to help, "came a familiar voice. I suddenly felt uneasy as my guard rose, a feeling that only true nightmares on earth could instill within me.

"Why is it just you, " I raised my gaze as I tried to figure out his face.

"Oops, busted so soon. Hi I'm Dennis but since we're from the same home call me Roushin. Oh and it's just me because I killed everyone else."

Then it hit me, this guy was the one who passed the entrance test by default because the supervisor's skill didn't work on him. Crap, a guy from Darth, I was screwed.

"What do you want, " I demanded.

"Let's just say your baby brother missed you, I mean literally he tried to kill you and missed so I'm here to fix that. "

"My baby brother?" I asked confusion written all over my face.

"Why yes, your baby brother, his majesty king Tartarus."
